- This short film documented the magical transformation (metamorphosis) of a dragonfly from its nymph to an adult. All footages were captured with an iPhone 6s from May 25th 11pm to May 26th 7am. Metamorphosis is truly a wonder of nature.

Incomplete Metamorphosis - Type of metamorphosis found in insects. The insect goes through 3 stages of growth: Egg-Nymph-Adult. Insects that undergo incomplete metamorphosis include grasshoppers, cicadas, cockroaches, and lice.

I wonder what this feels like on a human level…a long panic attack that subsided when you realize you’ve transformed and fly away? Dying and being reborn? A sexual feeling? Asexual feeling? I often wonder what humans can learn from this.
Many metamorphosing insects basically turn into liquid in the cocoon or pupa, then reform into their new body. I can't imagine human consciousness surviving that, so I imagine it feels like dying.
@chucklefuck, there is some science pointing to butterflies being able to remember at least part of their life as a caterpillar, so maybe it's closer to some sort of coma?
i imagine the sensation maybe being similar to when you eat too fast and it gets lodged in your throat, slowly making its way through your body as your completely helpless to it. just sitting there in agony as the pressure tightens inside your body, but then the food slowly crawls past that threshold and the release of pressure feels like a gift you never realized you took for granted.

Damselflies can do it, but dragon fly can't...
Dragonflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis; unlike other winged insects, such as butterflies, dragonflies do not have a pupal stage and transition straight from a larva to an adult. This transition, the final larval molt, takes place out of water.

I looked this up because I'm looking at jewelry with dragonfly symbology inferring transformation such as a 🦋 but I didn't realize they cocoon and get reborn like butterflies!
