I think it should be relatively easy to add a magnetic tape here and there to make it snap into place. May require opening. I'll probably buy a magnetic tape and try it myself when the keyboard arrives, it should be a non-issue.

I swear I've seen a review for this a while back. RK has been using their own switches for several years now. I have a feeling that these didn't sell well and they still have stock. It's definitely an interesting design, but I almost think folding the other way would make more sense. I guess there isn't much of an audience for these types of keyboards, especially with the popularization of low-profile keyboards that can fit in laptop bags.

It's a bummer they didn't go with hot swap and didn't include a 2.4ghz dongle. I just ordered one for typing my patient reports on my work laptop which can't connect via BT, so using a cable is something I can live with, though I always just prefer a dongle, especially when it's stored in the case (annoying detail that nuphy doesn't include a dongle spot on the keyboard when cheap RK boards do). But I did just order a set of extra switches to heavily customize my nuphy air96 that would be insanely cool to swap into this. Depending on how this board feels, I might bust out my soldering iron since I have a bunch of INSANELY nice low profile switches with nothing to do with 'em.

I think this foldable keyboard thing has gotten popular ever since handheld PC's like the steam deck have gotten popular. Most foldable keyboards are membrane so this is pretty neat!

I think so too, I only wish they would have made it lockable so it stays in the intended position.

I have it (brown switches) and for me, it is too loud, doubt I would use it in public and the purpose of this keyboard is actually just taking it wherever you go.
In my opinion they could have made it quieter, or maybe could have made a quieter switches option.

I cannot disagree, it would be nice if it was hot swappable and modifiable as then one could make it much quieter, they could also offer an option with silent switches.

After the floppy disk and floppy bird, the floopy keeb! It's probably a good idea with bad execution. If the RK61 is an indication of anything, I'd expect RK to increment from there and make this keyboard better after a few iteration. The RK61 was pretty bad juste 3-4 years ago (I have one from late 2019, it's.... not a great keeb imho) but my understanding is that it's a pretty nice budget keeb nowaday!

This seems to be a niche product. Yes, it is meant to be portable, but not all people that use laptops use external keyboards. Most just use the laptop´s keyboard. I think this is meant for those that just don´t like using the laptop´s keyboard. So, I don´t know just how popular it will be.

I just want to add that you´re right. It seems rushed, not like a fully finished product.

You would be right about people who use laptop keybpards if it was 10 years ago. There a lot of people nowadays have a desk setup using their gaming laptops like how you would setup a desk PC. I am even using my Feker IK65 right now with my elevated gaming laptop that is connected to my monitor.

I fully agree with you @@yubinator7455, I also use an elevated gaming laptop that is connected to a 32 inch monitor and of course I use mechanical keyboards on it when I use it in my home office. But when I have to take my laptop to a clients office or even a coffee shop to work, I just use the laptop keyboard. And to be honest, that´s what I see. When people go to meetings or coffee shops, I almost never see someone use an external keyboard with their laptop. That is why I think this keyboard will find a very small niche market for itself.

Pro version with feet, latch and hot swap coming soon. 😂

Needs to fold the other way and for keycap/switch protection, maybe some posts in the top corners so that it wouldn't close against them. They could be metal posts with magnets in the bottom corners to hold it together. Hot-swap switches would bring a lot more interest from the enthusiast side and non-standard keycaps/swtiches is just a bad idea.

They could have used the low profile switches but I guess they wanted universal compatibility
