Hey Jazza! I wanted to just complement you on something seemingly little that I felt was so big. Thank you for asking her if you could draw in her book before doing so. I know it doesn't seem like such a big deal, but sketch books are SO personal as I'm sure you know, that it's super amazing that you asked first. I usually encourage kids in my life to go ahead and write in my sketchbook but I didn't think to let them know that it's a special situation and that they should always asks if in a situation where you may want to draw in someone else's sketch book. For me, it's the most important pages, ones other people drew on, but it doesn't mean everyone else is ok with that. I'm just kinda awed and inspired by your belly short but kind action.
Thank you both for making this video! I started my channel not to long ago and keep feeling the same as Sarah. I also do realism good but I suck at character creation. That has been something I really want to do. I think I know where I will start now. I will start by recording my learning process, mistakes and all. I think if I can make mistakes on camera I will be more comfortable doing the entire process. Thank you again!! You have no idea how much this inspired me to start again!!!
I love these "learning how to _____" video trends. Love watching people learn new things. Everyone has so much to learn from watching OTHERS learn, and "let's all learn and get outside of our comfort zone" is such a great "social media trend" compared to past ones. 😂❤
Sarah I've been watching your videos for a long time, and I just wanted to let you know that I really do think this is probably the most important video you've ever done. You're going to touch and inspire allot of people!
Sarah your not alone in drawing the hands behind the back cause you don't want to draw them. I did that every time I drew someone until I watched Jazza's how to draw hands
Jazza was so brotherly when he didn't let you chicken out so that you later could feel proud of yourself for succeeding something scary. 💜 I easily feel intimidated and I appreciated his gentle firm nudge to let you show yourself that you are more capable than you think you are. This video is crazy inspiring. I needed this, thank you for sharing
You and Jazza have inspired me (a 52 year old cartoonist) into revisiting my favorite oc's to bring them to a higher level of art thank you (and if I ever finish my book I will definitely dedicate it to you and him) 😊
Wow. This is like watching myself struggle with drawing and perfectionism. Like you, I’m good at copying things but draw a blank when it comes to using my imagination to recreate something on the page. My self-criticism stands in the way of me being free enough to create bad art and still have the confidence to carry on. Like you, I also get bored easily - especially when things are going ‘wrong’! I want to be good NOW. Pushing through that is hard. It was so useful and reassuring to hear the advice of the amazing artists you featured, especially getting comfortable with 100 rubbish drawings and ‘sifting for gold’ to find bits you like to create the final piece. We have that fear of ‘ruining’ a sketchbook- like we can’t just go and buy another one! Becoming looser and caring less is something I need to adopt, because my craving for perfectionism is hindering my progress, not helping. Thank you Sarah for representing the frustrated, terrified wannabe artists out there; I truly felt all those emotions with you! The horror of being told to draw an enthusiastic Greek philosopher from scratch 😱😂 You did so well. As someone who wants to be able to draw NOW, I don’t think I have the patience for conquering small parts at a time (eg. just noses or lips) before being able to create a full piece. Hopefully one day I’ll have that perseverance, and I know that watching this video has clicked certain things in my brain already.
Thank you so much for your thoughts on this! I think finding small projects and working on improving the skills for those specific projects is a great place to start
One of the reasons you felt so exhausted at the beginning was because your brain was involved in so many active processes of learning, studying, comprehending and memorizing. Drawing and especially learning to draw is a lot of mental work. Allow yourself to take breaks! You will find staying away from art for a few days before returning can suddenly unveil an improvement that seems to come out of nowhere. It's essential to take time away to process the things you learned and it's quite amazing when you pick up your pencil again after a while (or in my case a stylus) and you just FEEL the improvement. You feel smooth and skills suddenly apply to your work without even considering them. You're great! Keep going, keep doing what you enjoy! I'll keep watching now!
Jazza is such a well of information and advice and the way he can talk to people is so engaging, yet understandable and the way he explains things just makes sense.
I think the strides you made in just facial expressions were phenomenal. Perfectionism is so hard to let go of. It keeps you down, stuck in what you perceive as failure. You have a wonderful talent and I hope you continue to share your drawings - even the ones you don't like. It makes you brave!
34:22 i completely relate with you here. I've always wanted to be able to draw and sketch like Jazza and others but it just doesn't happen. But watching y'all work through this process is giving me ideas of what I'm not doing correctly to get to that point. I'm going to try to do this myself.
Hi Sarah! I've been watching your videos on TH-cam for quite some time now, and I must say, your talent for coloring and your insightful reviews of art supplies have always amazed me. Your dedication to your craft shines through in every video you create. Seeing you take this new step into learning how to draw fills me with excitement and admiration. It's wonderful to witness you expanding your skills and adding another dimension to your already impressive repertoire. Your courage and determination are truly inspiring, and I have no doubt that you'll excel in this new endeavor as well. Keep shining bright, Sarah! Your creativity knows no bounds! ✨🎨. Good luck.
Oh @sarahclark ! I loved watching you navigate through this 50 day 'Learning to Draw' video! It was so interesting I had to watch it on the television rather than my tablet or phone, I wanted to see everything!! Watching your journey through your ups and downs made me realize that this is why we call it a 'learning curve'. I think the big lesson of the day is working through and perfecting your mistakes rather than leaving them behind! Thank-you so much Sarah for sharing this courageous journey with us ... I can't wait to see more! (PS I loved those cowboy boots!) 😊❤xx
I’m amazed at the hard work you and Shane put in to doing these videos. I’m not interested in learning to draw (yet) but really appreciate the work that’s gone on behind not just this video but all of them on your channel. Always great content and the quality is superb.
I admire you for sharing your thoughts. So many get discouraged by the fear to have “neat sketchbooks with finished drawings” because that’s all we see on social media. It’s refreshing to watch someone start the process of learning to draw. The steps and hours and dedication. It’s realistic and puts it all in perspective. I hope it encourages those new to art and those like me who have been struggling to find their voice in art. I look for to seeing your progress 🥰
I loved watching your journey and you have inspired me to take the courses I have already purchased and have been afraid to start on learning to draw. Thank you
This was such an amazing video, everything you went through is exactly how I am to a ‘T’ with my art. Thank you so much for making this video and inspiring me to keep pushing through to improve my art and to not give up so quickly when my art isn’t coming out exactly how I have it pictured in my head
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You have no idea how much this means to me knowing even someone I look up to stugles means I can do this. I took a break from drawing for a few years and then took more time off for my mental health and I was worried if I'd ever be able to make art that I'm proud of this has been a beacon of Hope for me.
Wow this is so inspiring & I love the way it was edited! I love your channel so much & its lovely to see so many other artists I also admire in this video. Jazza is such an incredible teacher, it's great to see him on your channel as I found yours through the Thor drawing you did of him. He's also right when he says you're too hard on yourself, you're SO much better than you give yourself credit for & you should be so proud 🥰❤
This was such an inspirational video. I'm like you in that I get bored really quickly with a subject and after about 2 hours with something I declare myself finished. I also want to improve my figure and portrait drawing. I think I will take your lead. And the clips with Proko and Jazza provided a lot of good tips. Thank you for sharing. It was brave to show your struggles and anxieties even though you are an established TH-cam artist. Btw, random question. Were you following Proko's figure drawing class or his introduction to drawing class? The link is to his introduction to drawing, but you seemed to be, in general, more focused on figure and portrait drawing,
Sarah, I really want to thank you for this. I’ve just started teaching myself to draw and showing your experience has given me perspective into my own journey and that anyone can LEARN to draw, and it may be scary, but the more you practice and try new things, the easier it becomes.
I can relate so much to your feelings of creating lots of art, but struggling with the drawing part. This video was really inspiring for me, thank you!
Gosh, i identify with you so much. "The biggest challenge here for me will be letting go and stopping myself from analysing things..." GIRL. GIRL YOU'RE ANALYSING RIGHT NOW. You're analysing not being able to stop analysing and trying to explain and justify your failures even before you fail! JUST LET YOURSELF FAIL IT'S OK IT'S GOOD EVEN lol. I have so much understanding and love for you watching you struggle, and yet in the same situations i hate and distrust myself so much. And I'm not even analytical, I'm just an overthinker lol Thank you so much for this video, seriously. So helpful in every way.
Sarah, there have been times in your videos when I have thought “wow she’s so amazing!” And your reaction of being so hard on yourself has resonated with me so much. Stay with me past this next point … it’s also made me think “gosh if her art level isn’t good enough then why should I even try”. BUT this video where you struggled but kept pushing through the discomfort and insecurity… the vulnerability you show is ALSO ENCOURAGING to people like me. Seeing videos of someone improving is just as- or more - important than seeing perfection. THANK YOU! This has been one of the most important videos I’ve seen all year. Well done! 🎉
Thank you. I know we are all hard on ourselves and I still struggle with it! But showing my failures and insecurities is something I’m trying to do more, because I know it helps others to work through the same things. Thanks so much for your comment!
Sarah, I can’t thank you enough for the vulnerability present in this video. I struggle with many of the same things and have turned my art more toward abstract, (which I do really enjoy), because I get so stuck and frustrated when I try to draw. I appreciate all the resources you’ve shared but most importantly I appreciate you for being YOU! ❤
I’m glad you shared how you were close to giving up, I feel like we all feel that at times where it just makes you want to cry and give up I totally get that
When I was a kid, I wasn’t encouraged to draw or pursue art in any way, but it was always a passion for me. I found my way towards art in ways that didn’t require drawing, like crafts, but I always wanted to learn how to draw. The older I was getting, the more I kept telling myself I could never learn. But more than half of the content I consume on this platform is art (specifically drawing) related. And watching so many people I follow improve on their art as adults and encourage their communities to continue to improve has been such a HUGE inspiration to me. Ten Hundred recently did a video as well talking about how he didn’t start really drawing until he was in his late teens. And sure, starting at 40 might not turn me into a world reknown artist, but being inspired by you and others has given me the courage to stop letting fear and doubt get in the way of learning. My art may never become good, but I’m no longer afraid to learn. Peter’s video encouraged me so much and I thanked him, but still fear has kept me from acting. But today, I opened the sketch book and started to draw. Thank you, Sara, thank you so much!
I love your videos but for some reason kept skipping this one. Now finally watching this, this is exactly what I needed to watch right now. This is the place where I'm at right now. As a returning artist who had a 15 year hiatus I've had some real moments of frustration. Thank you for sharing your frustrations and reminding us we all go through this ❤
OMG, you did EXACTLY what I’ve been trying so hard to do. And what this brilliant video taught me, is I can buy all the how to books, watch everyone’s videos, enroll in 5 different drawing classes, get all the recommended supplies, everyone’s different, but if I don’t put in the time and get out of my comfort zone, I’m going to stay mediocre and frustrated… Sarah, I can’t thank you enough for this MOST important and valuable lesson!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a powerful video! As an ex-ballet dancer, I spent 20 years of my life looking for what was wrong and how do we improve it… it’s a fundamental thing on my entire approach to Life. This video made me realise I should be looking for what’s right amongst the “errors” and what I enjoy and encouraging my brain to reproduce it over over
I love this video, Sarah! I teach physics at the college level and there is so much overlap with the learning process you describe - emotionally, mentally - and I'm going to share it with my students because I truly think they can learn about learning physics from watching you learn how to draw. Thank you!
Sarah you did such an incredible job on this video! I loved every moment of it. Especially the inserts of other artists, it was so cool to know so many of the voices and feel at home with the drawing styles of artists that I admire. I am definitely in a similar boat as you were at the beginning of this video. With confidence in drawing nature and really wanting to learn how to draw people. I paint florals mainly but I want to learn how to draw and paint portraits. This has inspired me so much to carve some time out just for practicing. Thank you for all of your hard work and inspiration.
This shows if you try you can end up with learning something, finding a new hobby and improve your skills more! Also can you make a video explaining about the difference between wax and oil pencils and which is better??🤔🤔
Thank you for making this video. I see myself reflected in your feelings (anxiety, fear) and lately I've been slowly battling my way towards finding joy in making art rather than making perfect art. I deal with a lot of anxiety, and so I haven't been able to push myself very much in drawing characters (which is really what I WANT to draw), but this video gives me hope that I will one day be able to try further to improve and develop my skills. THANK YOU for your vulnerability
Sarah.. I just got my first set of prismacolors and tried them today and all I have to say is thank you! They work like a dream. That's my first good quality set and it makes a world of difference so thank you 🥰
Thanks for sharing your journey, including the awkward and painful and discouraging bits. My adult art journey restarted when I got Jazza's first art product and I participated in Inktober (2019), and I've been slowly working on it since then. And spending more time on the crafts side of things, as watching arts & crafts TH-camrs like Moriah Elizabeth inspired me to creep into acrylic painting on 3D objects and watercolor washes. But I'd like to get better at drawing, too--and I know that involves a ton of practice. Thank you for this video, and for making a whole playlist of the tutorials you used. =)
Wild! I just started strengthening my drawing skills too! I’m on class 5 of 8! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one branching out from coloring and adult coloring.
Great video, you really encapsulate what it feels like & what many of us are doing wrong. Self criticism, giving up when each pencil to paper isn't beautiful, rather than being free enough to let it be ugly. Even though your drawing is so much further along than you think. Maybe I'll try again in my mid 50s because of this video. ❤
I have been expecting this video ever since you first mentioned it! I gave up art as a teenager because I couldn't deal with the disappointment of not being good enough. I heartly regret this decision, and now I am trying to catch up, but it is difficult with a day job and a kid. Seeing that you, an experienced artist, is similarly frustrated, makes me realize that it is indeed simply that hard, but also that I can keep going. Thank you for sharing your journey!
I feel I needed exactly this video🥺 Something as simple as where to start, the questions you asked yourself and the way you progressed everyday. The struggles to the point where you're doubting your abilities and interests.. It was so relatable 🥺 Thank you for sharing this ❤ I feel so proud of you for this 👉🏽👈🏽🥹 I really learnt something wonderful today! Also seeing all my favourite creators come together. Omg this video is the universe's sign for me!
Hi! I love this video. So relatable. If you haven’t already read the book ‘Chatter’, I highly recommend it. Such a good read and so insightful. Learned so much from that book…about getting out of that negative self talk that we all do. I think you’d enjoy reading it 😊
I cannot express how encouraging and validating this was!! I am so similar to you and I heard so many golden nuggets to help me adjust my mindset that keeps me stuck! Thank you so so much!❤
Thank you for not finishing this video with a "grand piece". There's something a bit discouraging in seeing very talented people picking up new skills so easily ("this is my first time trying something and it turned out great!"), when you youself are not reaching that level even after extensive practice. The fact that you're emphasizing that this is a journey, an ever-developing skill, is really what put your new videos on a different level. All the advices you showd from the different artists you've talked to are really spot on, and the interesting this is, is that they can be applied to other areas in life as well, not just for art. The "bad sketches book" tip can be applied to any brainstorm sessions- say all your "bad" ideas out loud, something might spark the next good idea. Learn from your mistake not just by noticing them, but by applying their fix, it will train your brain to handle such scenarios better the next time you'll encounter them. I really appreciate the new direction you've taken with your channel 🙏. The honesty behind "I'm not perfect, but I'm better than how I was yesterday" is really refreshing, and is way more encouraging than seeing a perfect end result.
This video got me in the feels, in a good way. You and I have very similar ways of thinking and processing. I do. Better with clear instructions or drawing realistically. It has stopped me from being a better artist and completing projects that I have always wanted to do. This video has absolutely inspired me to get back at it and I am excited (knowing there will be days of frustration and disappointment). Thank you so much for putting yourself out here and sharing this, it has helped me already.
I’m a little shook how much I resonated with your struggles on this 😂 thank you for sharing your journey…I also have to say I can’t help put think a lot of this is the difference in women & men’s brains regarding creativity pursuits 😅
What a great video! So informative about the feelings and emotions involved in learning this process. Loved hearing the different artists' approaches and processes. Also, appreciate your honesty about your frustratio s. Than!s for a great lesson!
Wow the details at the end instead of at the start, will inhibit your progress. What a realisation! And making something just to make it, instead of making art per se. 💡🙏🏼
Sarah I really enjoyed this, I have done the same things many times. You have made me feel so much better as I also change what I want to draw, and sometimes I can do it, sometimes I cannot. How cool to work with Jazza! And the development of a character part was so important for me. Thank you so much.
Hi Sarah, I think this is the best video you've done. I was really pleased you talked about all the quite complicated feelings it comes with and I enjoyed you getting perspectives from other artists. My fave segment was your drawing with Jazza, I could tell you were super uncomfortable but Jazza was a wonderful teacher. He was kind but firm and really pushed you to keep going. Reminds me of some of my tutors in college. Anyway I resonated so much with when Jazza explains how constructive and analytical your mind is in regards to art, I've always found I could copy really easily but making stuff up I would have to use hacks (random word generators) to try and be more imaginative. So Jazza's lesson really gave me a great lesson too, shout out to Jazza too he's one of my other favourite youtube artists. As a final note I absolutely loved your piece you were happy with of the Greek Philosopher - excellent drawing.
Thanks so much for this video!! Didn’t realise how much I needed this until I watched it ❤ P.S. I love that your character on the last page has hands!!! WELL DONE 🤩🥳
I don't know why, but I got really emotional watching the end of this video. Maybe because I struggle with so many of the same feelings you expressed as you went through this journey. I want to persevere and get out of my head, and this video really inspired me to do so. The first video I watched by you was the creative one, and I'm so grateful that I found these videos to help me through my art journey. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and thank you to the artists who helped you (and me) with the process. ❤️
Thank you Sarah for inspiring me to keep trying and learn from my mistakes. And keep going. Ive started a sketch book and hopefully i will see improvement 🙂
i have literally been in this place for the past decade with my own drawing and have been feeling the pull the get back to it -- thank you for this Sarah; it's really helpful in helping me make a plan to get back on the horse and try to build better habits and improve.
This video is amazing. It’s very inspiring how you pushed through. I can’t wait too see what you come up with next, indeed pushing through it’s the hardest part, thank you for sharing your journey honestly!❤
I can relate to this so much. I have been a professional elementary art teacher for a decade but I still don't feel confident in my own drawing skills. I spend so much energy teaching kids that I have had little left to put into my own art. It's summer now so maybe it's time for me to rediscover my own drawing skills. I have learned drawing is like muscles and when you don't do it for a while you get weaker but you can always get stronger again!
Thanks for sharing. I find it really hard to 'sketch' multiple things on a page in my sketch books as I'm scared to ruin something I like with a rubbish drawing at its side. I really got a lot from yours and Jazza's sit down together. I also enjoyed listening to the other artist tips on how to improve.
This was great! I am in the same boat as you when it comes to drawing from imagination, so seeing some of the advice others gave is super helpful. I have been avoiding doing the 1 minute poses because "they won't be any good" but thinking of it as a way to loosen up and going in with the expectation that they won't be good is great. If only we all had easy access to professional artists as readily as you! Thanks for sharing.
This videi was so inspiring. I'm also more coloring than drawing person and I feel the same as you did. Now you and the other colorist helped me and encouraged me to try get ti drawing again. Big thank you Sarah for this video and sharing your experience and learning process.😊
I think Jazza immediately found a story behind his character and was able to run with it. Where as you/Sarah was just lost and confused, trying to figure out looks and such. I'm thrilled she kept going with it and figured out a guy.
I have re engaged with drawing. Even got my first commision due to what I have been producing. There is so much to consider but rewarding once you get the linework done.
Your drawing style is so beautiful before you even started!! ❤ I can really see how you improved!! 👏👏 Great job going through this journey!! 👍 We will enjoy seeing you continue your journey!! 🤗😍🥰
This was such a cool video! It was great to see how one can put together different art tutorials in order to improve one's art abilities, and to get reminders about how to improve the mental aspect of getting better at art as well as the physical! I'm definitely interested in looking at the Ugly Art channel -- I love the idea of deliberately claiming the title of Ugly Art to prevent perfectionism from getting in the way :D One piece of advice that really hit me hard (in a positive way) was from Jazza -- at 34:27, when he said "you've got to exercise the muscle of not being so self-critical" -- that's a whole new way of thinking about it that never occurred to me before. I struggle with being self-critical too, and I found that concept -- that being-not-self-critical is something that I can *exercise* -- that was really encouraging.
Thank you so much for inviting me to participate in your journey! Your progress is mind blowing, and you inspired me so much, thank you!
Your advice was invaluable!
Thank you for being a part of it and inspiring me too!
Hey Jazza! I wanted to just complement you on something seemingly little that I felt was so big. Thank you for asking her if you could draw in her book before doing so. You could tell the sketch book changed the way it looked after your advice, and the artwork was more loose and fun!
This is so absolutely wonderful, Sarah! LOVE THIS!
Thank you!!
No way! What's up Scott
Woooowwww Scott is like the GOAT of all
I feel honored that my flower sketching vid was part of your journey - loved seeing your delightful blooms! XO
That was such a helpful video! And super relaxing to draw with

I think learning to draw a face is the most satisfying thing in art. Once you've figured out what goes where, there's no stopping you 🥰
I am so glad to find someone else who has a hard time drawing from my imagination! I feel like I don't have an imagination most of the time.

Exactly this!!
Jazza is such a well of information and advice and the way he can talk to people is so engaging, yet understandable and the way he explains things just makes sense.
Thank you for sharing your struggles because some of them resonate. Can’t wait to learn more about the character you’ve created.

I hope it encourages those new to art and those like me who have been struggling to find their voice in art. I look for to seeing your progress 🥰
Great video! You filled your sketchbook with so many ver pretty and amazing things. Maybe next you need an “ugly” sketchbook😂
Aaron Blaise is one of my favorite animators! He shares alot of drawing tips (for free) on his Facebook page.
Nicely done Sarah. I really enjoyed this video.
I loved this so much! Thank you for taking me on this journey with you. Just wonderful!
The link is to his introduction to drawing, but you seemed to be, in general, more focused on figure and portrait drawing,
Thank you so much Sarah and Team. This gives me inspiration to start drawing again ❤❤❤
Sarah, I really want to thank you for this. I’ve just started teaching myself to draw and showing your experience has given me perspective into my own journey and that anyone can LEARN to draw, and it may be scary, but the more you practice and try new things, the easier it becomes.
Thank you for this comment!
And I'm not even analytical, I'm just an overthinker lol
Thank you so much for this video, seriously.
Loved this video! Now I want to get back to drawing as well. Could you please add a list of the books you used? That would be awesome!
This is the video I need…. It’s given me the inspiration trying to draw again, not trying to copy. Thank you
Could you please put a list of all the books you where using??
I can’t draw but I really really want to be able to. This video is amazing, thank you. I’m so inspired 💜
I’m so happy this has encouraged you! I hope to hear an update as you start this journey! ☺️
This video made me realise I should be looking for what’s right amongst the “errors” and what I enjoy and encouraging my brain to reproduce it over over
What a great video. Thanks for sharing your journey.❤
I love this video, Sarah! I teach physics at the college level and there is so much overlap with the learning process you describe - emotionally, mentally - and I'm going to share it with my students because I truly think they can learn about learning physics from watching you learn how to draw. Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear this!
Thank you for this comment!!
Thank you for showing the mess not just the final product
😂 you did the same thing as I did few Years ago.
I'm following your vidéos since long Time.
This is absolutely fantastic what you 're doing 😊
I love your journey, it's so inspiring! Thank you for sharing. 😍
jazza is a dream boat man i love him he's the best.
Fantastic and valuable video for all of us that are still learning! Thank you, Sarah!
Your video was an emotional rollercoaster and that sketchbook is a masterpiece!
Sarah.. I just got my first set of prismacolors and tried them today and all I have to say is thank you! They work like a dream. That's my first good quality set and it makes a world of difference so thank you 🥰
Absolutely LOVE this video. Thank you so much 🙏 I think your drawings are great, by the way 🤩
Thanks for sharing your journey, including the awkward and painful and discouraging bits. =)
I really love your drawings Sarah! Awesome job! This really inspired me to start drawing soon! Thanks for this!❤❤❤
Wild! I just started strengthening my drawing skills too! I’m on class 5 of 8! It’s nice to know I’m not the only one branching out from coloring and adult coloring.
Thank you for sharing your journey. The honesty you showed in your face said it all. You accepted "hard mode" and did it anyway.
I love that you showed the reality of your feelings! I feel this way and now I can’t wait to challenge myself. ❤❤❤❤❤
As an artist myself struggling with drawing ppl this was very informative and inspiring! Thank you for all your art work ❤❤ much love
Thank you so so much!❤
I'm so proud of you for sticking with this and finding your joy! Thank you for sharing your journey and all the wonderful advice 😁
Thank you all for this video.
It's some of the best i've ever seen.the feeling of "one for all,all for one-community"
Big Thanks to all of you❤
Thank you for this! It’s also just like therapy 😊
I relate so hard to all of the challenges you expressed in this video. I feel so seen!
This was such a helpful video, so great. When you look for what’s wrong and not what’s right it does demoralise, the advice in this video was so good.
Wow the details at the end instead of at the start, will inhibit your progress. What a realisation! And making something just to make it, instead of making art per se. 💡🙏🏼
I can’t believe that you thought your beginning sketches were bad. Those were amazing for doing very little learning beforehand.
Thank you!
Thanks so much for this video!! Didn’t realise how much I needed this until I watched it ❤
Thank you for this video Sarah!! Its so motivating ❤
This video is amazing. It’s very inspiring how you pushed through. I can’t wait too see what you come up with next, indeed pushing through it’s the hardest part, thank you for sharing your journey honestly!❤
Thank you for sharing! It always makes me feel better (=less insecure) to see that other people make mistakes, too.
This is really inspiring even though I'm not quite ready to begin this experiment (which is ridiculous).
Nice. Wow ❤😻😻😻
Thank you for sharing this.
I think a lot of people will benefit from this video.
Thank you for the video!
I'm definitely interested in looking at the Ugly Art channel -- I love the idea of deliberately claiming the title of Ugly Art to prevent perfectionism from getting in the way :D
One piece of advice that really hit me hard (in a positive way) was from Jazza -- at 34:27, when he said "you've got to exercise the muscle of not being so self-critical" -- that's a whole new way of thinking about it that never occurred to me before. I struggle with being self-critical too, and I found that concept -- that being-not-self-critical is something that I can *exercise* -- that was really encouraging.
