Lisa is arguably the happiest music teacher on the planet. We can’t prove it, but we’d be willing to bet on it. With a background in classical and contemporary vocal training and a love for popular music, Lisa Witt focuses on helping her students uncover their own, unique sound and develop their voice with simple routines and tips for faster results. Her personal singing journey started filled with intimidation and fear about “singing out loud”. Lisa’s desire to find confidence led her to discover HOW her voice works (physically) and gained newfound confidence and passion to perform in her discoveries that she now shares in her lessons. BTS have long outgrown kpop and are global artists, so if you like them, you like BTS first and foremost 😁 they have ~300 songs in their catalog across a variety of genres, they write and produce the absolute majority of their music, so they don't fit the typical boyband mold either 😉

Fun fact for you, Suga has previously stated in interviews that rather than view kpop as a genre, it's better to view it as integrated content. The term kpop lumps all Korean (as in made by Korean artists/in Korea) music into one thing, so there are multiple genres within the overarching term of Kpop.
If you would like song recommendations, I'll list a few withe the reason below:
Spring Day: This song has not left the charts in Korea since it was released 4 years ago.
Black Swan: a more recent release that highlights their thoughts on loosing their passion for their art.
Danger: simply one of my favorite songs from them!
Some people have suggested some live performances, and I cannot agree more with their recommendations!
I look forward to watching more from you! 💜

FYI, Butter has been at the Top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 6 consecutive weeks, a first for a Group.
BTS Army is almost 50% 30y/o and above. I’m 46. My 15 y/o daughter introduced me to BTS, she was 11 at that time. I started listening to their music just to make sure that they are safe for her to listen to. My daughter had to teach me how to watch their videos (with CC on of course) and found myself liking them and loving myself. “I’m the one I should love”, “you can’t stop me loving myself”, “you showed me, I have reasons, I should love myself”, playing everyday in my head, eventually found myself doing exactly that. The best part is, my daughter is with me in this journey.
I’m glad that you gave BTS a chance, thank you.
Next will be Dynamite as it is the only other all-English songs they have so far. Butter and Dynamite are both really happy and quite “simple” (for BTS at least), because they were made to make people feel good and heLp us get through the pandemic but they do not represent their Discography (actually, not one of their songs does). I listed a few more songs so you can see for yourself how different each song is from each other. 4 of them are vocalists, 3 are rappers and all of them dance. Their songs have great lyrics so please do turn your CC on to enjoy their music to the fullest. If you want you can just watch the video first because their MVs are like movies and then watch it again while reading the lyrics. If you have kids, you’d want them to listen to BTS’s music because they’re life-changing. They teach of self-love, hard-work and not giving up. I also have links for my favorite songs dedicated to ARMY below. If your curious about how they started and their story, I also have links below. Mary, thanks for posting all of these links. I’m 64, Butter Army and have been obsessively watching BTS since this video’s release. Immediately after watching Butter, I found Dynamite and went down the rabbit hole right then and there after seeing Jimin sing. He is totally my bias and the other guys are my wreckers, seems like every day is a different one as I watch all the videos. One of my favorite videos is Dope, their moves in this one have such precision and are so sharp. Love watching different reaction videos because everybody seems to be blown away by the guys and rightfully so. I’ve watched a few of the other K-pop groups and they don’t even compare to BTS. These men are unique, talented, humble, deserve all the accolades they’re receiving and more. As I write this, Butter has now been in the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 7 weeks. I’m glad that TH-cam suggested this video when it premiered because I never would have found BTS. Can’t imagine my life without their music now❣️💜

And the message of that song makes you really go out and do your best and then You actually listen to their other songs and cry because they all feel like they’re talking to you…
I was never a fan…of anyone except now. I never thought I would find time, energy and enthusiasm to go to a concert but in 2019, I went to my first ever concert at the Rosebowl with my daughter and approximately 60K screaming Armies….It was the best!!!

That's what I'm saying. When people ask if I like 'kpop'.. I get what they mean but it's like.. it feels to me like if I were to listen to a song on American radio and like it, and someone asking if I like "American music" lolll. So it would be like "I like 'kpop' as much as I like western music".. People wouldn't get it though 'cause they just can't get it like us unless they discover the whole BTS thing themselves.. I always just say that they're beyond 'kpop' and that I don't see it necessarily as a genre but more of the music industry over there especially when some Korean artists are so versatile that they could be releasing full-on hip-hop tracks and people just lump it as 'kpop'. So for me kpop = music industry and BTS is of course BEYOND both the genre AND that music industry that tried to shun them out anyway.

They've been asked twice by the United Nations to speak in front of their General Assembly (both speeches are on TH-cam). They donate to many causes around the world and have inspired their ARMY to begin their own charities/foundations. They write, compose, and produce much of their songs. They have collaborations with other artists, including Western artists. They have no equals (Kpop or otherwise), because they are not just a musical group. "Butter" and "Dynamite" are their only all-English tracks, so for their other music videos, you'll need to turn on your "CC" for the English subtitles. I hope you'll continue to give them a try. 💜💜💜

HI!!!! Welcome to BTS!!!! Love your giggle!!!! How many groups do you know that can sing, dance, rap, write, produce most of their own music and most all can play instruments? I don't think of BTS as Kpop at all. They are their own genre. They made 2 songs, Butter & Dynamite as HAPPY SONGS for their ARMY! ARMY is the name of their FANS! They wanted to help ARMY to get through the dark days of covid. Also, they are completely different than our American pop stars. They completely entertain us on social media. Where other celebrities make fun of their fans, BTS respects us and I think of them as team mates. They feed us sooo much content. Yes, we are well fed as fans. They have shows like Run BTS, In the Soop & Bon Voyage. I highly recommend In the Soop. They even took us on vacation with them last year. Just watching them cook & eat is worth the views. LOL so true but it was fun. They also talk to us on a platform called V Live. It's like Zoom except they can talk to us and we have to type comments & questions to them in real time. They really do all types of genres' of music. I am addicted to their lyrics and their writing styles. Their metaphors in their lyrics are genius! If you have any questions, need any help, just ask ARMY, they will be happy to help you

@@SingeoOfficial They are great artists.Best to forget the 'pop' label.I can seriously say,as someone who bought my first single in 72,(Starman),that these boys rank right at the top.
Their voices can touch your soul, lyrics are poetry, the rap line is as good,if not better, than any other rapper you could name and they dance.Watch a dance practise and their moves are as synchronised as any major ballet corp. There are two main dancers, one from a street dance background, the other a formally trained contemporary dancer.
Butter and Dynamite are honey traps for the unwary westerner, who will find themselves falling deeper every day.Neither song is typical of their vast discography.

I don’t understand what about this is kpop though? That’s the problem when the Western world decided to label Korean idol music, it doesn’t fit different categories.
Bc if this is kpop then all Koreans singing pop in English are kpop right?
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not angry at you. It’s a problem with how the Western world classifies music and music artists. It needs to be adjusted.
BTS need to have the ability to have fun songs just like every other artist and not be firmly pigeonholed in a certain category especially if their discography doesn’t reflect that category.

Cute reaction, thanks for listening to Butter. It’s a fun, summer bop, but probably not the best representation of BTS and their work. It’s great that you are willing to give them a chance - and if you are prepared to dive a little deeper, I’m here for it 😂🤷‍♂️
Try “Louder Than Bombs”, the four vocalists and the three rappers are well represented, it’s lyrically beautiful and very melodic - you will need to do the lyric video or turn on subs as it is mostly in Korean - there is no live version as it came out right before their last tour was cancelled, so they never performed it live.
Others have suggested Black Swan, and it’s a great song, also Spring Day, Butterfly, I Need You, Fake Love, Idol, Life Goes On, Blue and Grey - and if you are into rap, try Outro: Tear, First Love, and the Cyphers.
I am an Irish nurse, living and working in South Africa. I have never been to Korea, I don’t speak the language and have no ties to Korea. I was raised with all kinds of music, and was really into The Cure, David Bowie, Foo Fighters etc…yet I have been into BTS for five or six years now - I cannot tell you how amazing they are - as songwriters, producers, singers/rappers, dancers, performers - and (really importantly) as men, as human beings. They are superb live. And they are inspirational.
Anyhow, I hope you will give them a chance, thanks again 🙏💜💜

BTS has experienced producers and songwriters in the group with their own style and so they might have a different sound to do other kpop groups. They definitely have the most diverse discography in music right now.

Hi, some things about this boys.
*Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with the term "kpop".
Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop"
    1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers
    2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc
    3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung.
    4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble.
    5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc.
**Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.

Also the recent "Festa Room Live" is a medley that's a decent showcase for the range of their songs in 10 minutes and includes some old songs at the beginning. (Although it doesn't show a really wide range, just some)

You should react to their NPR Tiny Desk Concert or their cover of Fix You to get their live sound

Lisa, I 've heard of the song, but honestly, I hadn't listened to the whole song before. I just clicked on this vid since you were doing a reaction! I love you from Pianote so I wanted to see your reaction vid. Catchy tune I have to say. :) I hope you will do more reaction videos. Super fun to watch!!
