The cages still work to get large animals if you breed them on site and then capture the babies. You'll have to wait for them to grow to be useful, but it's an easy way to get large animals from far away.
It looks like the steam pink town hall and steam punk tavern are all part of the same structure along with the steam punk supply camp thus why it said "break and place town hall here" on the supply camp floating ship.
Still trying to get “Colony Mc’Colonyface” as a colony name. Also Sjin, steampunk style seems like a lot of big buildings, I think your focus should be on resource gathering buildings like the mine, the quarry, and the forester. Reduces a lot of the repetitive tasks ☺️
I think it would be cool if you turned the mountain wall that despawned into a quarry or some type of steampunk industrial area. You could even build a crane off the starboard side of the airship to load ores and stone onto it from the quarried mountain face.
Nothing wrong with having both a forester and a create tree farm. The forester will be good to supply the colony, while your create farm will supply yourself for all the big builds that you'll inevitably end up building alongside the colony.
I see you found a bell pepper while breaking grass from the new cookery update on minecolonies. Going to be interesting to see that in action along with the changes to fields.
If you do want to use cages to move farm animals, here's what I did in a custom pack: Take some wheat and carrots with you, breed the "wild" animals, and use the cage to capture the baby animals instead! They fit the size requirement for the cage, so you can bring them back with you that way.

I've also used them for catching cats I wanted to tame but who were too far away from my base, unruly otters eating all the fish out of my koi pond (probably not an issue if your pack is running Alex's Mobs) and other little ones like those. If you can make a Supplementaries jar you can catch even smaller mobs like bees...but the bees DO NOT LIKE IT so only let them back out if you're throwing them into an enclosed greenhouse and then escaping the building haha 😅 And the great thing with Create is that you can add all sorts of steampunk-looking things to the sides of your buildings afterwards and they'll fit right in! ...Maybe that's why the steampunk colony builds seem to have so many big blank walls? 🤔

I will say, when you say the Town Hall has no functionality, that's not strictly speaking true. Things like the Dwarven and Dark Oak styles use them as 'entrances' to their building web, and most of those, such as the Mansion and Fortress style also make the Town Hall double as player housing, adding loads of furnaces, crafting tables, and bedding.

should absolutely swap the tree felling mod, for Panda's falling trees mod if its compatible. rather than simply breaking the whole tree, it turns the tree into an entity and makes it fall via an animation, then deposits the entire tree worth of drops at the point it was broken from.

I know Mine Colony people CAN make their own tools but is it viable to have it early? I always get caught up in keeping my people alive and rarely get to that portion. MY theory is, Wood cutter + courier + crafter = self sustaining tool production of wood or stone? Just a thought to keep them from needing babysitting every 20 minutes

you can either add the stylecolonies mod which has steampunk and some others, or you can download it directly from planetminecraft and place it in your blueprints folder
If your game crashing in launching the pack i think its problem with connector mod update it to last ver its fix my problem ( sinytra connector and connector extras)

Update: I fixed it by changing settings in curseforge for how much RAM is allotted to the modpack I set mine to 10 GB (which is the max for this modpack). Anything much higher or lower would cause it to crash
@@sjin its all fine when you place the airship but when you go to bed its gone. Whatever caused it is between placing it for the 1st time and going to bed 12minutes into the video.

If you're going with *steam* punk, why not utilise "combusjin" in the name? Or even "combusjin ensjin". Or "Infernal combusjin".
spruce saplings can be planted in a 2x2 square to grow a giant spruce tree, it also turns the surrounding grass into podzol

I believe you can just shift right-click animals to put them where you want them. No need for cages. I could be wrong tho?

Needs a blacksmith and research so it’s not really worth it when it’s so easy to just make 10 of each stone tool and toss them in the warehouse

the cliff was missing in the 1st episode, it was deleted when you placed the airship
I think what happened was when I moved the townhall I had to delete the colony and when that happened I think it deleted the area around the camp

Its cause the ship is part of the steampunk town Hall, and the area that “vanish” is where the town hall building goes.
