I love this guy doing everything step by step. Really makes newbies want to watch his video especially people like me who known less about mechanical and technical facts about racebikes. I hope you continue to make videos like this. I’ll share this video to help out 🤜🏻🤛🏼
These videos are the best and why i stay loyal ensuring purchases from your well designed website. Reliable products, great install videos, and did i mention the competitive prices, once you add the STG dollars earned for most purchases, every purchase is a nice discount towards my next purchase. Mod parts sold by someone who races, installs and sells is much better than what you get with other vendors. Stay safe and thank you for always processing my orders in a timely manner.
Mark, thank you for your support and the kind words! We work hard at STG to help the riders who choose to work with us get the best results from their projects and the most value for every dollar they spend here. Reading your comment made my day! - Brian Van
Hey Brian, i was at Barber Motorsports Park on October 13th and got the awesome chance to ride with your son on his Yamaha R3. I was the young guy on the KTM rc390 and may i say for your son’s age he’s got some serious skill! I had to ride my ass off to stay infront of him but he made me work! Tell him to keep it up! I too one day hope to race as well! Sorry I didn’t stop by i can be a bit shy and I wasn’t quite sure if it was you guys or not. Hopefully ill see yall again sometime on the track then ill have to stop by and say hello. Anyways keep it up Brian, love the vids
Max talked about riding with a 390 on Saturday, had to be you my man. He was working with Grandpa Johnny Laconte that day, Grandpa was on an MV Agusta. Mini Van did a personal best of 1:48.7 on Sunday riding with Isiah and Shawn (STT Coach), man was he pumped. Max has not raced yet, just track days so far with an STT Race School in June where he earn his license. The plan is for the 2 of us to race Wera in 2019 at Grattan here in Michigan and Barber in Alabama. Get you license and do the Barber races next year too, you looked plenty fast out there. Next time come on over and say hi man, would love to meet you. - Brian Van
Sportbike Track Gear heck ya man a 1:48?! Better fastest time than me, i had a friend timing me and i think the fastest i got was a 1:53 but i was only there for Saturday but either way 1:48 is seriously fast! And thanks for the kind words Brian, I’ve been wanting to race for a couple years now and i just bought what is going to be my race/track only bike, got a cbr600 2013. My lack of funds is getting in the way lol but in due time i hope to be racing hopefully by later next year in wera superstock 600. Still need to take a race/ride school so i can get my license though, hopefully early next year ill be getting it. And ya man im a huge fan of your vids, me and my Dad both, he just got a new gsxr1000r so when we get around to modding it i know your vids are gonna be a great help! Next time i see yall ill for sure say what’s up man, thanks again!
Really appreciate the kind words my man. I am sure your Dad will love that new GSXR 1000R, I am having a ton of fun riding mine for sure. 1:53 on a 390 is a great time at Barber IMO, Max said you looked awesome out there and told me to tell you he enjoyed riding with you! - Van
You are 100% correct my friend! I never intended for the R3 to be ridden on the track as much as Max has ridden it. He will be racing the R3 in 2019, it will have a radiator guard on it then. I may even throw a new radiator in the bike and keep this one as a spare. - Van
anyone here familiar with the cable clutch lever/perch combination. tried searching the writing on the perch but nothing similar comes up. Thanks in advance!
I've got the rev 3 on a zx10r and the throttle tube doesn't fit in the housing??? When the housing is closed the tube sticks. It's soooo hard to turn like it's just not the right size
Sorry to hear you are having an issue. Over the years I have installed several Motion Pro Throttle Kits (REV, REV2 and REV3) and never had an issue. I would start with double checking your work. If you don't find anything reach out to Motion Pro and they will help get you sorted. - Van
have they fixed their rubber covers yet? everyone's is dry rotting in just a few months. reason so many guys I see going with domino. also don't use normal grease on plastic. it will break it down and in my experience makes the throttle sticky. I always do it dry and it is silky smooth for years. if you insist on using grease use silicone or wax on plastics. crazy as it sounds pledge furniture polish on plastics like vinyl works great as a lubricant. squirt compressed air under the grip and it will slip on like butter.
I have used both the REV2 and it's predecessor on shop bikes and not had any issues. We have sold a ton of these over the years so I asked the staff if they have heard this from customers, no one said they had. Motion Pro is a solid company, if you have an issue with one of their products they are there to support it. As for the grease I have been doing the same thing for years on more bikes than I can remember now and will continue doing so. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear maybe they got a new manu for the rubber cover. But a few years ago many guys on the R1 forum had them cracking and so did my buddy. But i had the original rev kit on a previous bike with no dry rot. No one gives a crap on a race bike but they will on a street bike.
i tried to adjust my 09 r6's throttle at the tb, and i unbolted the throttle tube housing, but now i cant seem to get any slack, atleast not what your getting, anyone know where i screwed up? or is my cable not correct for the bike? bought it abused and used, no idea
You should have been able to adjust the slack in the throttle cable by using the adjuster in the cable by the throttle housing. To offer more help I would have to see the bike which is hard to do over TH-cam comments. - Van
Hello sir, i want to change new r3 front to old r3 because i like the big lights of front. Is it possible to do , if yes so plz give me tutorial or some way to change. Thanx fir this information.
Is the start/stop switch necessary to use this? I don't "need" to replace the stock one so if I can avoid buying as much as possible i'll be able to get on the track faster.
I Could’ve used this video last week before I installed mine. Searched and didn’t see it yet. Got to ride with max at barber last Saturday. Kid is fast. What tires is he running? 110 front or 120? Asking because of how the forks are set up.
Max was running Michelin Power RS Tires on the R3, 120/70 front with a 150 rear. Not sure what we will put on the bike next year at this point for tires. It sounds like there will be purpose built race tires for the 300's from Dunlop and Michelin available next season. The kid did pretty good last weekend with a best time of 1:48.7. How did you like the throttle? Max felt it was a real improvement over the OEM unit. - Van
Sportbike Track Gear yeah it’s certainly an improvement. The stock tube was so long you had to re-grip It. Max hasn’t been track riding that long has he? He was definitely moving. Everytime we got together on track he’s leave me before I could watch his lines lol.
Max started on the track last August, he did 2 days in 2017. This year we rode a lot more, around 13 days I think in total. He has had some great coaching from the STT Staff, Chris Ulrich and Johnny Laconte which has helped him improve quite a bit each time we go out. - Van
Would you guys recommend this for casual hooning around on public roads or do you find it too aggressive in traffic and stuff like that? My bike has a pretty long throw and it would be nice to sharpen it up a bit.
It comes with multiple cams that allow you to tune the ratio pretty easily. I do not see any reason not to use this on the street, great part and it will help you get your throttle where you want it. - Van
That seems like a big pain in the ass. I recently discovered my killswitch got broke off in my parents garage. I was considering this 300 dollar route but now that I see you doing all this I kinda rather just buy the oem switch setup
Do not ride the bike until you have this sorted. Check your cable routing, cable adjustment and make sure the grip is not dragging on the clip on tube or the bar end. - Van
I would use the biggest cam to get the throttle to open as fast as possible. For roll racing you would not need the progressive cam we use for road racing. - Van
Do you oil your cable every once in awhile or just. When doing change overs. In part ive never thought of that. But never have problem. Just curious if it something I should worry about doing once a year or something

Be careful pulling wires if you are going to race WERA. Many of their class require that the wiring harness is not modified.

@@ramneet1155Hey Anurag contact Radith Modifikasi on facebook. I love the old look too. The new one looks like a baby dolphin.
Hi Brian,
which windshield you are using in this video?
Zero Gravity Yamaha YZF-R3 15-18 Double Bubble Windscreen

Do you have to put safety wire on the grip?

If your bike has a stop/start switch that is not part of the throttle you can 100% reuse that one. - Van
Is this MP set up better than changing to Graves throttle tube? Trying to get away from annoying double grab.
IMO it is, we are running this on all of our bikes now. I like the quality, performance and the adjust-ability it offers. - Van

No, you need to install the complete kit my friend. - Van
What is the black thing installed on the tank? Can some one post me a link of what product it is please.
The gas cap or the tank pads on the sides? Gas cap is a Driven Halo and the tank pads are Tech Spec. - Van
