I have a deep interest in the original collector of most of these folk songs....Dr. George Gardiner...Between 1905 to 1909 he collected over 1,100 songs in Hampshire, England alone, I sing - in a Traditional manner, many of those songs....And also Skylark often perform here in my part of Massachusetts and my wife often attends their concerts...
THANKS! Holst is one of my favorite composers of all time. I am more familiar with his band and orchestra compositions. He used several of these songs as themes in his Suite in F for Military Band. Acapella choir has the greatest emotional impact.
