Noticed it right away when you were putting it in the live center while talking about driving it! I haven't done THAT one but certainly have done plenty of bloopers myself!
Mike; Looks good. The proper term for the Urn is “cremation Urn” as the urn is used to hold cremated remains. James, a retired Embalmer/Funeral Director. I really enjoy your channel and get a lot of good tips from you
Thanks for your support Sometimes the correct term is not as important as the impact of other common alternative terms that are more important on search engine optimization. For this reason I use multiple commonly used terms.
Mike, I like this. Nice size, capacity should be correct. As a not retired funeral director, I would be proud to put this in my facility! It is rare to find a wood turned urn from any of the funeral suppliers that call on me. I have been asked to make urns for some of my client friends, but due to time limitations, the only urn I made was for my mom. Again, good job!
I appreciate your comment. My wife did not like the colors. It will sit in my home office in case she needs it until I get around to turning one she likes. My first one for me unfortunately was used for my son last year. You just never know.
Love this Mike. This looks to be a pretty limited market, but after paying almost $1000 for an urn a couple of years ago, I think there is a niche market here for these...
We have a local woodturner who left a good corporate job to turn urns, pet and human. He has half a dozen employees and goes to various trade shows in the funeral business. Fortunately for me, I don't have to produce woodturnings for a living. This one will be for me unless I turn a better one.
Mike: Great work. I enjoyed every cut. Thank you for sharing the project with us. You will most definitely make my Christmas card list if you would pass along where you got that plastic insert on the lid. I have been looking absolutely everywhere for it without any luck at all. Thanks in advance!
Answers to sizing were in the earlier video on urns. I just added the link to the description. I have dye which is designed for wood. For me it would not make sense to go out and buy printers ink to experiment with. If you have the printers ink on hand, I would say give it a try.
isn't that a live center you are putting on the drive side???? sure makes it hard to make it turn lol BobT
We have a winner! You are absolutely correct. The rest of that footage will wind up in a blooper video.
Ok Mike, the ONLY reason I know, just last week when I was trying to figure out how to turn something.........;.........
We learn the best from boo boos, don't we?
if we ARE SMART WE DO LOL
Liked the finished color. Great design change. I saw the error on the drive, nice cover up.
I like the color but the wife does not. She says it looks like an egg plant.

Something to be proud of. Good tribute Thanks
A beautiful urn Mike!
Ron
Thanks, Ron.

The proper term, is, what ever one calls it.

Good job Mike
Love the video, shape not crazy about the color. 👍🇺🇸
You and my wife both.

I threaded it. One option is using a PVC threaded connection. Will do a video on that in the future.
Excellent...
Cheers...
Thanks for sharing
Mike . . . what do you line or finish the inside walls of the urn with? Or do you leave it raw?
Raw
Those 3 bearings on the Nova Live Center System spin real good, don’t they?
Yes, they do.
Cool!
They are all "Deliberate" mistakes Mike👍👍👍👍
Well, I guess if I fix 'em I don't have top fess up to all of them.
Like what you did to the neck
Thanks, Ernest.
Mike, where did you get the white plastic insert that the threaded top fits into?
I cut the threads at 10tpi with my threading jig. The white collar was a piece of hard plastic I had.
@@MikePeaceWoodturning Thank you.
Where do you find the threaded collar insert?
I threaded some plastic floor tile with my threading jig, 10 tpi. Or make some from PVC fittings.
Oops, live center on the drive side😳
You got it!
How much does the urn have to hold after cremation? Have you tried using some of the printer ink that's sold in bottles for refilling printers?

Live center instead of a drive center
You are correct!
you will always have stuff ups on green wood.
And dry, LOL.
