Can I suggest you have a look at doing a video of Djenne, on the Niger River in Mali. It's one of the most amazing places I've ever been. It's a little way from Timbuktoo (Tombouktou), and way more impressive.
Djenne and couple of other sites in Mali are on my list, unfortunately Mali has been a very unsafe destination for some time, hopefully this will change soon
