My friends mother was working in Bloomingdales in NYC in the 1950s. MM came in to the store looking for sheets & pillowcases. When my friends Mom opened her mouth to say something, MM sweetly put her finger to her lips as if to ask her not to bring attention to her. My friends mother said it was hysterical, because people had already recognized her & were following the 2 of us around as she showed MM various items. She said that MM was so sweet & kind, but soft spoken & shy. She helped MM for about a half hour, & said that MM in no way acted like a movie star, & thanked her so much for her help, kindness & time.
I totally agree with you Kellie.Although it was a brief encounter,I could feel and sense her beauty and kindness. It was an experience that has lasted me a lifetime.
Hi Andrew! Thank you for sharing such an amazing story, I reckon it still feels surreal looking back at it even now after all these years! I believe you’re about the same age as my father and he used to tell me about how much of a beauty and how great of an actress and person she was when I was younger! Nevertheless, rest in peace to both MM and Joltin’ Joe! I’d like to believe they are at peace somewhere together in heaven!
Hello Felix, I am a 72 year old baby boomer yes it does feel surreal looking back at it. It is incredible to think how popular both of them were at the same time. Joltin’ Joe what is an American hero to so many… he even made it into a very famous song you may remember called “ mrs. Robinson”. Take care and happy new year to you and your family😄
@@andrewbycoffe1066 Hi again Andrew, I appreciate that you responded! Yes Joltin’ Joe was and still is a true superstar! I would’ve been as star struck to meet him as I would’ve been meeting Marilyn! And of course I remember mrs Robinson, it’s a classic! ;) Lastly, I would like to wish you and your family a happy new year as well! Take care!👍😃
@@flenif2247 I think he didn't know how to love her and let's be honest they met at unique times. He retired, her career was taking off and he also was too protective aka possessive of her. He just didn't quite know how to handle her...but when all was said and done...it was him who was there for her towards the end when everyone had betrayed her...he arranged her funeral and bought roses to her grave for 20 years. That's pretty powerful and admirable.
To be quite honest I was very young..but I definitely have a positive smiling image of her shining brightly at me...which has stayed with me for 68 years till this day!!!
For your guidance,Joe D or Joe Dimaggio was at that time was one of the greatest baseball players and a NY Yankee..I was a huge fan..So as hard as it may seem..it was just as special for me,meeting him as it was meeting MM.
I just realized I talked to someone who met Joe and Marilyn thanks for sharing Andrew and Im sure Joe was as great back then as people think of him today!

that’s awesome!
Joe LOVED that woman...his last words, according to his son, were "I finally get to be with Marilyn."...
From one Gemini to another..Yes,I could feel the love Joe had for Marilyn from across the room! Thanks for enjoying the video:)
He may have loved her but he was S-T-U-P-I-D.....to let her go, to not appreciate her, to not ADD to her happiness and growth.
