You know, I really got attached to his oji-san silly model to the point that I was really saddened when he said he was going to change it. And the thought that we may never see arupapa again... kinda worried me.
But at the end of the day, he was not my oshi for 2 years only because of his model. He is still the same silly goofy aruran we love and appreciate. While it may take me some time to get used to his new model, he is my oshi so I will support him no matter what.

@@AsbestosEater1 he hasn't stated it. but it's possible that staff wanted to make him more marketable because an older man is just harder to sell as vtuber sadly. It's also possible that it was his own decision.

I really did cry once I realise that ahhh it really is a goodbye to Arupapa, I’m sure it would take time for some of us to adjust to this change (including me, even though he had been streaming with his new model way before). But of course our support will always be there on whatever decision he’ll make.

Great clip. Arurandeisu has been talking about his creative vision for a while now. I remember him talking about it at the end of his 24hour stream. A lot of people just see model changes plus a lore explanation, but it's more than that. Along with what Astel has been showing he's up to, it's clear that Holostars wants to be more than just idols who stream games and do variety acts. The Vtuber world has grown, but I feel in a sense it is also becoming stagnant/complacent... It needs talents who want to push boundaries and, whether we like it or not, the resources to be able to do so - I think all branches of Holostars are breaking new ground in their own ways and over the long term, with Yagoo's support, it will be transformative.

Theres a recent clip of Arupapa expressing how all the complaints about the recent changes should be directed to management instead of him so i got the impression that this whole thing is pretty much corpo's idea.
Though i cant really hate them seeing how they allow Aruran giving this kind of send off for the fans.
From Aruran's streams up until the change it really felt like this is something he wanted or at least negotiated about. There are so many time's he's mentioned looking forward to sharing something with fans leading up to that point and just look at how this design is more in line with the rap/dj/muscle-head direction he wants to go in. Him directing people to complain to management is because regardless of who made the decision, it's the agency's responsibility to protect their talents and part of that is to filter any negative comments or criticisms so the feedback can be passed on in a way that's less hurtful.

I thought he was just gonna be adding a new gimmick, but I guess he's just gonna be young Aruran forever huh? Kinda worried this makes him lose a pretty unique niche, but I guess they wouldn't have done this if they didn't think this was gonna help him grow as a content creator.
Still, I can't help but feel that cool Oji-san was a market that was pretty untapped. Guess that just means someone else can fill that void.
Of course, I still wish Aruran all the sucess in the world regardless of what his model looks like.

it's always feels weird everytime a Vtuber change model with a different model. it have different feels than changing outfit, because the basics still the same.
avatars we've known since the debut. the avatars that we learn to love since the debut... suddenly got replaced. need time for me,to learn loving the new avatar. but since the"inside"still the same,I think it won't take long before I can love the new look of Aruran.
at first time I also found it weird to see an"ojisan"Vtuber avatar. but as time passes, Aruran papa grows on me.
Then you have Matsuri new model. First time I saw it was like ehhhh. Then just figured whatever, it is still Matsuri. Haven't seen much of arupapa, but I get how weird it would be for people having the drastic change. Hope it isn't as off putting as it was with Akuma nihume for me. Really liked her old kinda gremlin model and have never really been able to take to her new 1. I was watching some of her stuff when she was still back at I think 9k subs then I dropped off vtubers for a while and saw the change when I got back and just couldn't really get reinvested again. Even tho she had delivered on requests for more yt content and a vid channel for her twitch stuff for those like myself that refuse to make a twitch acc.

While I was crying watching this live, I can't help but to be bothered by the height difference between Arupapa and Arunii. 🤔
I was super confused when Astel changed his design in 3D, because while I don't watch his zatsu I did follow karaoke and Apex and never heard him mention it. So I'm happy Aru made lore for it, despite the voice still matching his older body for me. It's hip and fresh for newcomers, but being the older papa was what made him stand out in HolostarsJP.
I think its simply a matter of Astel's original design being difficult to be converted into a 3D model.
Astel old design is still in used btw. His birthday merch has his old design on it. Astel's been building up his lore extensively since prob early 2021 and he's been hinting his old design might be him from a different dimension/universe/world. His upcoming 3D Live on his 3rd anni is titled "Twin crew star" is a massive hint for this.
But comparing to Aruran's model change, Astel new model doesn't look too different from his old design meanwhile Aruran new model changed the whole vibe of his character. One more thing to note is Astel used to get a lot of hate because his old model looks like Shinji from Fate and people were assuming Astel was also an a-hole just like Shinji. So Astel had a more reasonable reason to change his design.

⭕If Aruran likes it better and feels better in it, or didn't like the ojisan look but had to put up with it, then it's ultimately better.
➖Aruran is still the same guy, knows the same stuff, etc. and that should mean it's fine.
❌Arupapa is a way more unique look than Young, Pretty/Ikemen Holostar In Baggy Hoodie #4 (#5?), and I personally like Arupapa a lot more than Aru-chan, and not only because it's how he's looked all this time already. Second, if it's a big change and he/they're completely retiring Arupapa because he/they want to be more marketable, that feels like a really shallow/hollow reason to me.
What sucks is that ⭕ and ➖ are purely speculative, but ❌ is how I feel right now.
Ngl that's how I feel too as we don't have enough ojisan in Holostars (well we do have some but their models are still very young looking or just straight up menacing *cough* Oga *cough*)
