Thank you for this! It needs to be said by people that other people look up to, and you my friend are one of them. Critical thinking (& former drinking) American here... We've had it with the "celebrity" endorsements, and truth be told, we've had it with the celebrities as well. Particularly since the films have nearly ALL been SHITE since circa 2005. Hollywood has been infiltrated and it's not difficult to see anymore. The ship is SINKING FAST, and not soon enough for many of us. Looking to rebuild a motion picture system that prides itself on story, character, comedy, and plot rather than "woke" politics!! The Globalists really screwed the pooch thinking we would all continue following the pied piper!
and they've been cultivating the "audience" like that. Recently I've seen Margot Robbie being harassed by woke people on Twitter because she gave birth to baby boy. Apparently because she played Barbie she is somehow suppose to have only girls or some shit, I don't know, it's woke people on Twitter, any sense of normalcy and sane logic is out of the window with those people. They are literally telling her she should have aborted the child or leave it, and some are saying she should kill it because it's "future oppressor and r@pist"... and they still wonder why people voted for Trump.
I tried to do that, but they truly are insufferable now. They echo whatever the media says. Axl Rose, from GNR, Kirk Hamlet from Metallica, two of my favorite bands echoing the same thing, "Trump is a Nazi". All because a little Austrian guy said, make Germany great again. Reagan also said make America great again and no one called him a Nazi. When the democrats said they need to censor free speech, no one called them a Nazi.
I can’t do it anymore with some of them because they’ve gone too far. There are movies that I used to love that I can’t bring myself to watch again, such as OT Star Wars.
Kurt Russell had it right. From an interview with The New York Times: “I’ve always been someone who felt we are court jesters. That’s what we do,” Russell told the publication. “As far as I’m concerned, you should step away from saying anything so that you can still be seen by the audience in any character. There’s no reason entertainers can’t learn just as much as anybody else about a subject, whatever it is. But I think that what’s sad about it is that they lose their status as a court jester. And I’m a court jester. That’s what I was born to do.”
And he's right. All these artists are nothing more than entertainers, they're here only to amuse us in this mad stupid world. They're not qualified to tell us what to do (like a lot of actual politicians, unfortunately).
It's funny when you know that court jesters could afford to criticize the regent's politics because due to their role and style they could get away with it.
It’s taken away their “mystery”- celebrities used to seem so much more deep, layered, mysterious - turns out that was just us, the public, filling in the unknowns with wishful thinking. We mistook the aspects we didn’t know about them for another layer of their “coolness”. Turns out they’re just simple minded Karens who can act , that’s really it
And I have exponentially more contempt for their handlers that blackmailed certain celebs during that hole private island business that we still haven't seen a list for
Same here.. it sounded so juvenile. Hollywood, generally, doesn't seem to understand - I vote ISSUES.. my concerns. I also worry about the up and coming generations. I know what it is like to be 20 and poorer than poor. The economy can be bad a few months, even a few years, but for this generation to build up it's wealth, things must become normal and balanced, even if this generation doesn't understand why I say this.
Another from Ricky Gervais: "you are in no position to talking about politics or to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world".
@@dominikfrohlich6253 Trump served fries at McDonalds and worked as a garbage men. He evidently knows more about the real world than any of the Hollyweird clowns.
I remember one time Anthony Hopkins refused to answer a political question saying something like, actors are stupid and we shouldn't comment on politics.
Hopkins has to have worked with some of the most vapid and shallow minded individuals that people can come across. I am not surprised that he would come to this conclusion because I suspect he has seen most of these celebrities at their worst
It did. I’m 100% certain most celebrities have always had political thoughts like this. However in the old days anything they said came through the filter of agents, studios, and publicists. But now they have free rein to go direct to the public with their vapidity.
I think they COULD, but that would involve Hollywood dialing back on IP and trying to focus on Director/Actor-Driven films again. That's been one of the biggest shifts in filmmaking in the last quarter-century: emphasis on franchises instead of on the creatives.
Celebrities also had some mystery to them before social media. Only way you heard about celebrities was through TV or radio, and seeing one was like a once in a lifetime opportunity. And also you didn't aspire to be famous, you aspired to be an actor which made you famous. Now with social media, you see them everyday, and you realize the fame messed with their heads and they have nothing in common with an ordinary person. Ie, the value of fame and being a celebrity has diminished.
Good for you. You've obviously woken up and understood that the Hollyweird community only care about lining their pockets with YOUR money. They don't care about you, and as such your are on point by not caring about them.
They used to say "Don't talk about religion or politics at the dinner table" but, for some reason, if you broadcast that dinner to millions of people the opposite is true.
Jack Nicholson, who firmly believes in the old school sentiment that a true "movie star" has to maintain the mystery of not revealing all of who they are publicly because they lose their luster if they open their mouths. He is one of those that you can't help but respect that view and once said this when asked about his political persuasions..."You do not become militant if you wish to be a successful propagandist. Because all you will do is preach to the choir and further entrench your opposition.” “I’m always at odds with my own constituency. I support every president. Period.”
It goes beyond that. They actually believe they have been bestowed with some kind of higher knowledge and wisdom, as do many liberals. Of course, there is no tangible evidence of this higher knowledge, they've just told themselves this for so long that it has become " their truth ".
Given the opposite is espoused by the president elect who himself was a celebrity prior to entering politics that's a bit rich. Several of the politically aligned GOP candidates he has endorsed since are also celebrities. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
There is a little bit of irony here. A celebrity just won a primary and got elected President - again. And leading politicians become celebrities as in 1) they are on TV, 2) their names and faces are widely known, 3) they are far richer than average, and 4) they do not live ordinary lives.
When I was a kid I remember my friend's dad who is a Fireman saying to us that he didn't care what a bunch of people who get paid money to play pretend think. That always stuck with me.
Especially when they get paid more money to stand in front of a camera in a costume and read lines off of a piece of paper that the man who goes into burning buildings and save lives.
@ryananthony3104 Technology is the only reason they are rich. Otherwise they would still be largely confined to local theaters. Actors were considered to be on the level of prostitutes
I got taught a similer thing, elaborating on how acting, writing, and direction are all different things, and were done by different people. Think we got here from the introduction of "character played by x famous person" that started with Robin Williams, then escalated with the knowladge of "this guy improvised this good thing" giving the idea that the actor is basically responsible for so much.
And that’s why I love Keanu Reeves’s never once have I heard him talk politics, he’s just a good dude just having fun what he’s doing and loves his fans
Gonna bet a TON of them actually DO leave the country if the Diddy videos start getting leaked... fleeing to countries without extradition treaties with the USA.

These celebrities are so out of touch that it's pathetic. If they are honorable, they should leave.
Celebrities still don’t get it. They play pretend and think we care about their politics. What fools!
Wow okay

Isn't that what Trump and Zelensky are though?
Nvm, I guess not since they actually ran for office making their politics actually matter.
You don't care about politics?
To be fair, seemed like people cared about Joe Rogans opinion.
Exactly. Celebrities are completely out of touch with everyday working people because they're not everyday working people anymore. I was in the service and after a while I didn't relate to everyday civilians anymore. Same thing when it comes to wealthy celebrities. They truly live in a bubble in our protected by studios. A civilians don't get that level of protection or attention.
