E99 - Roz’s Moto Adventure Ride Australia - NSW Hunter Rd 23 river crossings, Ellerston, Moonan Flat

- This episode takes me up to day 208 of my year long adventure ride around Australia and OMG what an EPIC day it was! Mark & I left Nundle to ride a trail recommended by Jock at Armidale Outdoors. It starts on Barry Road just outside of Nundle and at a fork in the road, it changes name to Hunter Road! With rain, 2 concrete causeways, 21 rocky river crossings (all flowing with recent rains), an adventure bike rescue and one final moss covered crossing at the finish line...all made for an EPIC days ride! Both Mark and I had 2 drops each and Mark finished off with the most elegant slide & pirouette on the most crossing before we legged it through Ellerston into Moonan Flat just before 8PM! Unbelievable awesome day! It’s always an adventure...carry on! 😂👍🏁🏍🏍💨

What a epic ride in Barry's Road and the 23 crossings.
Ive ridden it many many times with the Ulysses and Off Raod Adventures, it dosent matter how many times you ride it ... it's a matter of time when you are going to come off.
Yes totally agree that the Moonan Flat pub and camping grounds are something special.

Nundle looks so picturesque (I'll ignore the snake on the road sighting, was probably a rubber one to keep tourists away lol). Onward sweet adventurers! 💕Simply cannot believed how you soldiered on through all those river crossings too, just gunning it and hoping for the best. Epic day!!

Its a great bit of road and a beautiful part of the country. I rode it on my DR 650 from Gloucester to Nundle and dropped it on the second crossing but killed it all the way through. A couple of guys hit the slippery causeway see you tube clip "701 slip and slide crash". all apart of the adventure. Stay safe and enjoy.

This is one of the several videos that's got me wondering if I've been doing adventure riding wrong for the last few years, using that big heavy Versys which I've never been able to pick up and which is at best difficult for off-roading. Oh well, that bike is kaput just now, so this summer it's the Honda 250 or stay home. But at least I can pick it up by myself! :) it just won't be the 130kph+ kind of bike that my usual riding mates use - especially not fully loaded. Glad to see you doing it all on a 250 Roz! 👍👍
Refreshing to hear someone call a blackboy a blackboy. Awesome footage, definitely had me chuckling a number of times at the on-board commentary during the water crossings.
What a difference two years makes. Rode Moonah Flats to Nundle during the drought. Only 2 or 3 crossings had any water. We did the trip in less than 4 hours.
What an awesome ride. Great to watch. So envious. Just as well you don't have helmet intercom or Mark would be falling off his bike laughin I reckon.

@13:37 you can tell when it’s gone really wrong when there is actually 5 secs “before” the swearing starts :) - nice riding both - @4:13 agreed on the big bike - remind me again why did you go bigger rather than smaller “it’s only a 650” - until you have to pick it up the it feels like 650KG !! ... ;) “Toby moment” ... never heard that one before this week

From Nundle to Hunter Valley took us about 4 hours all up. Awesome scenic ride and would be awesome in a 4X4! Not sure how long it was in km’s!

That’s not my intention! 😂🙏 It’s because of a big bunch of super awesome blokes that supported & encouraged me at the start of my adventure riding journey beginning of 2019, that I’m able to embark on this journey of a lifetime! Adventure riding is hands down the most freakin exciting thing EVER! 😂🙏🏁💋

What month did you do Hunter Road? Looking at doing this in early July. But concerned with the water levels at that time of year.
Mid January buddy BUT it was a wet summer this year! I’d say do it after a couple of weeks of no rain! 🤞😂🍀

I know I can export GPX files from my Earthmate app but need a laptop to do it and don’t carry one with me (and haven’t actually tried it yet 😂). I usually just look for trails, tracks or backroads on my map in the morning and just head in that general direction. If I see an interesting track along the way, I just take it! 🤞😂 Another great resource is locals along the way! They’re probably my best source of info more than anything! Enjoy the journey to the Cape mate! I loved that trip but more so, I loved the journey up there from the Karumba/Normanton end and then coming back, the Southern OTT was awesome plus the road from Port Stewart down into Lakefield NP. They were the highlights of my trip to the Cape! When I get home, I’ll try to work out a full export of GPX files from this journey! 🤞😁 Carry on...
