LBP3's unused and alpha content just seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. Isn't there another version of this contraption challenge too? Could've sworn I saw Ben show it off a while ago on his channel. The entire race was just water with no obstacles and it had the Ziggurat background unlike here.
From what I remember of this level in the PSN Beta, it originally had you outrunning (or outswimming, I guess) a giant monster. Not sure if there's any footage of the PSN Beta's Boat Race online, but it looked reasonably polished from what I remember. If this level is to go off of though, it seems they scrapped that version and tried to remake it based on The Wheel Deal in the last few months of development. Not sure exactly what their motivation for rebooting the level was - I guess they didn't think original design was that good? Either way, it's yet another victim of LBP3's rushed development.
@@Chunkinator104 That sounds like the one. If I had to guess they probably rebooted it since they had a tough time thinking of ways to make the water interesting and not boring/infuriating, and instead just tried to adapt Wheel Deal since that already worked out alright. Would explain why the one that's on PS4 makes minimal use of water in comparison
laughing my ass off at 5am seeing you fall into despair trying to play the level was worth it i knew about this unused level because in the final game there was a bug where you were able to use create mode in the poppit and after you placed that door that transferred you to another level (no, not the lbp1 and 2 ones) all the quests just appeared in the quest log (still locked) and one of them was about boats and i was wondering "huh, why boats" seeing this level in action, i'm glad they scrapped it, thanks for the vid :P
