    Dennis Rodman is an example of when being a villain works. But the huge difference is he earned the grudging respect of his opponents because he could legitimately lock down on them when they had the ball and pull down 20 rebounds. Plus, he played a key role in 2 NBA championships even before he joined the Bulls.

    • @MisterKnowItAll3
      @MisterKnowItAll3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'd say he was the best player during at least one of his championship, flashy highlights and high scoring games are overrated, rodman did what every team needs in order to win, defense and rebounds are crucial to win a championship and nobody is better than rodman in those two aspects of the game.

    • @Mr.PR2000

      Rodman was a beast! The only players that kinda remind me more recently was Joakim Noah and Draymond(prime) tbh. They talked but they backed that shit up.

      He is an abnormal.
      He beat everyone on training drills and party hard after a game win and comeback like nothing.
      and when they lose, he apologize to team indirectly and kill himself in training.

    the problem with trash-talking every other team in the league is that you don't have a place to go when your team cuts you. He's a pretty good defender so maybe he's going to be on somebody's bench next year. But then again maybe not. I think it's funny as hell that even the grizzlies said they were tired of his shit.

I’d also like to add in the fact that most defenders like the ones mentioned above know their limitations offensively and don’t try to overdo it like Brooks does, 13 ppg on 36% from the field with (I think) 14 shots a game. I feel like nobody played the villain like Joakim Noah... If you could call him that. He was always getting in people's face, not backing down in the face of "greats" and antagonizing at times, and how could we forget letting everybody know that nobody's going to Cleveland on vacation. But he never took it too far and he didn't make his persona a thug or the bad guy. He was just a guy wasn't nice to people he didn't respect. I love Joakim and wouldn't consider him a villain myself but I know some Lebron fans that think differently. Lance Stevenson and Reggie Miller are good examples to me that toe the line but ultimately crossed it or at the very least didn't do it in the right way IMO. But I think that's the beauty of the "Villain" in basketball because everyone's line is different and from different perspectives the line for one player could be dramatically different from fan base to fan base and fan to fan.
    Nonetheless Dillion Brooks should be beyond everybody's tolerance for foolishness this season and honestly it's put him up there with Grayson Allen for guys I don't respect at all in the league. That's not to say he can't change. But being a Bulls fan I don't want him on my team. I Love the Villain in the NBA, but I don't like bad people in the NBA.

    As a Grizz fan. THANK GOD. Also, I think Ja had a bit of a wake up call. his post game he owned what he said about the west, and during the interviews after he initially hurt his hand he said some stuff about how everything went wrong this season. idk. It feels to me like Ja wants to actually be a leader and take steps to reflect. Brooks was just a trash talker with trash play to back it up.

    The team is so young and I think Memphis said, "We can't have these guys dictating our team." Dealing with Ja and then Brooks so I can understand going he's only hurting us more than helping. When he or Ja start to lose their chill it kills the soul of their team. Bane was trying his best to bring them back but most of the team already checked out. Missing Steven Adams also hurt them but Jackson Jr. was doing his utmost to handle that big position. I'm not a fan of the Grizzlies, but damn they have a fun roster to watch ball. They acted like they were the team to beat and were the champs. You can't be like that and have nothing to show for it. If you owned up to your words or comments people will respect you more. He avoided media after the games like a punk which I mean he is lol

    Based on the GIANT "DB" necklace and the loud, white-rimmed sunglasses that he wore in the locker room during his interview, it looks like he is a legend in his own mind. The emphatic statement by the Grizzlies front office should be a "grow-up" call for this young man, once he gets over the angry tantrum that he undoubtably throws when he hears it. Time will tell. I hate to see anyone lose a lucrative career so quickly, but Dillon makes it hard to pull for him. Still, I hope he re-thinks his attitude and gets another chance.

    Also I think the organization get rid of him because, due to his attitude, he was the perfect incarnation of what everyone blamed them for : cocky, arrogant without proving anything.
    They can't do that with Ja despite his attitude in or outside the court cause the guy is big money with mad talent : he is the face of the Grizzlies. Brooks is kinda scapegoat even though, in a way, he asked for it ( Karma). Also trash-talking 1 of the best player in the NBA history without being able to back it up properly? He definitively embarassed himself and the Memphis team/organisation.
    So since they said they want to be more humble in the future, to prove it, they just want nothing to do with Brooks anymore.
