I will tell you a story I bought the z530r online. I went to the John Deere dealership to pick up a part for my x360 . I ask the part guy if a certain person worked here . He said no and asked why. I told him I bought it onLine. He told me salesman don’t like it when you buy online. I told him I could do as I want . It’s my money. He said well they like to meet you in person . I had already met the sales manager . It’s not what he said it’s how he said it. It was pretty smart ass . I just tell y’all . some people like to buy online instead of dealing with high pressure sales . Or someone trying to sell you something in stock that you do not want . I hope other John Deere dealerships treat there customers with respect. I never said anything to the manager about it . All your videos are excellent thank you
Well I am sorry to hear of your bad experience but I can assure this is not how all dealers treat their customers. Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching!
I am sorry to hear that! That always surprises me, but I hear it more often than I would like to. I’m glad I could help you out and thanks for watching!
I just picked up a 21 Z530R with the Kawasaki carb motor. Tested it out yesterday and love it. My property has a lot of rough terrain and it’s so smooth compared to my X570 garden tractor. The suspension seat makes a bigger difference than I thought. I’ll never go back!
Great video Brent! WOW, John Deere is making some great upgrades! Can't wait to see the upgrades that they have done to the Z900 diesel. Thanks for sharing! Have a great and awesome day!
I’m torn between the z530r and the x390. I love zero turns but my back yard is pretty sloped. Would the z530r be adequate? Or would I be better off/benefit from the x390 instead?
This is a situation where a lot of variables come into play. I would honestly ask your dealer if you could test drive them on your lawn to see which one performs how you want it to.
@@WesternEquipment thank you for your reply. I know it’s kind of apples to oranges, but out of those 2 machines is there one that you think is possibly better than the other? One that you would prefer if having to to choose out of one of those two for yourself?
@@davidchantler5117 If you have steep slopes you may want to consider the tractor over the zero turn. The zero turns should only be used on a slope grade of somewhere around 10-15%. Consider as well there is very little weight on the front of a zero turn. You don't want to be going up hills that are too steep. They do have weights you can add to the front, primarily for if you have a bagger mounted to the rear to act as counterweight. Zero turns do turn fairly easy, but consider the tractor does have power steering and also hydraulic lift which are added bonuses. Like he mentions though, see if your dealer will let you try it out on your lawn to see.
Yes it is. Brent I love the 545 R but I also have issues with Briggs engines. How do you feel about the Briggs engines today. Do you think they are making a quality motor these days
From what I have seen over the last 10 years they make a good quality engine. Not sure that I have seen any more issues from them as I do the Kawasaki’s.
I see they changed the lift lever for the deck and I know why. We have a Z540R and lift rod is getting a groove worn in it because I use the foot pedal a lot over uneven ground. There is an extended metal edge and at the very top is where the handle locks into the transport position. The handle rod rubs against that and I can see eventually it wearing completely through and breaking. Too bad Deere does not offer to put this newer design on the older models. One other aspect is the engine is cold blooded. In cooler temps say around 60-65ish, you have to let it warm up quite a bit before engaging the blades. Otherwise, it wants to stall the engine. The carb mixture can't be adjusted because the carb is not adjustable. I can see why they went to EFI on this model. It's nice to see with these newer models and the improvements made to them that price is still pretty close to the older models.
In bought my Z540M last year when I could no longer tolerate my old Deere riding tractor that was 15 years old but still hanging on. I felt like I got a steal from the dealer at the time as it & one other Z540M was all he had left of the zero turn models. We also had the economy shut down with a “pandemic” limiting production of new machines at the factory & people stuck at home with lots of time on their hands so why not focus on their yards & landscaping right? I’m seriously considering doing a trade-in now to get one of these with all those new & improved upgrades. I wish I would have waited.
Does the 60” deck scalp more than the 54” deck? What is a bigger seller in your opinion and what are the disadvantages of a 60” compared to the 54”? Thanks!
I wouldn't say that it scalps more, but there are situations like in ditches or sloped areas that a 54" would have the advantage. In our area of the world we see it pretty even in sales between 54" and 60". I wouldn't say there are many disadvantages to the 60" deck unless weight is an issue for your yard or if you happen to have ditches by your roads on your property. Good questions and thanks for watching!
I’m only cutting a half acre and currently have a D105 that takes forever to cut. I want to upgrade to a ZT and I’m drawn to the Z530R. I’m thinking longevity. Is that too much mower for a half acre? Should I look at Z300’s instead?
I believe it is always to go bigger and be happy than buying something too small and being disappointed. My suggestion would be to go and test drive both and see what feels right to you. I hope this helped and thanks for watching!
Good Job on the Video Brent. You went over the features nicely. Question? What is the recommended maximum deck height for these mowers. The 4 inch factory set height is just not high enough for the yard?

Great informable video! I had a quick question, me and my wife just bought a Z515E and was wondering where we could get the hood canopy roof for it? What do you recommend?
Unfortunately John Deere has not produced one yet to fit this exact model but most aftermarket options will work well as long as the clamps it come with will fit the tubing of the roll bar. I hope this helped and thanks for watching!
Yes, they are wheel motors but we still call them a transaxle since the axle is directly connected to the transmission or wheel motor. Are you asking the gauge of the mower deck or of the transaxle housing?
The tweels are not an option on the Z500's as of right now, but I could see this changing in the future. As of right now you can get a 48", 54", or 60" on the Z545R. the 48" and 54" have a bagging option and the 60" has two mulching options. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Very nice mower line up and review for the Z500 series, but unfortunately the hydro trans units are sealed with no service capability to change any filters or fluid that I can find on the tuff torq TZ-7.
This is true but I would say that this should not be a concerning factor as John Deere has been using these transaxles for quite some time and they have proven to be very reliable.

Brent great video as always! I may have missed it but did you go over deck sizes. Can you get these in a 60in? Also is a powerflo bagger offered? I've always had good luck with briggs motors but lean towards kawasaki. I love the idea that every model has a fuel gauge. Also do you guys offer free shipping on small items like heaters?
Yes, I really think so! Briggs has really stepped up their game in the past few years. John Deere continues to use them and if they were a problem child I believe John Deere would drop their engines and go with someone else. I'm impressed by this EFI engine and really think it will prove to be an awesome choice!
I bought one a month ago the only objection I got is, when I'm going down the road my front wheels at top speed just flop real bad, what causes that, and another thing I wish that it had with the seat, if it had a lumbar , and a reclining back it would be great for the price I paid someone give me a answer please
@@WesternEquipment thanks please try too figure this out for me, this shouldn't be, it should roll smooth fast, just like it does slow, considering the price I paid for a 2021 new mower
Why doesn’t John Deere make the Z530R with a 48 inch deck? I want to run the collection system but also want all the goodies without injection. We have wet grass out here in the NW and 54 inch may produce too much for the collection system to handle. . Great videos brother. I wish you were closer I’d buy it from you. I may have to go with the M series and add the options I want.

Well this is why just like a seatbelt, it is your choice to use it or not. Companies are just trying to look out for their customers. Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment It must be nice to be so naive, the world must be a very friendly place. The ROPS is the product of corporate risk metrics based on their percieved vulnerability to lawsuits arising from improper use and the consequent injury likely to their customer set. If the number of roll overs exceed a certain number and the percentage of those exceeds another - then they take progressive steps to limit their own liability by imposing ever increasing measures that do little to produce a higher standard of operator. Looking out for their customers is the least relevant aspect of the implementation and no, you cannot simply 'opt-out' of the ROPS without effort and consequence.
@@pyroman49wedd86 I keep myself from injury. Proper training and operational practices keep people safe from injury. The ROPS keeps John Deere safe from liability. Maternalism is never a static state of being, it is a slippery slope progression.

Thank you and yes the 60" Deck is available on the Z5's but unfortunately bagger kits are not compatible with the 60" decks.
@@WesternEquipment is there an aftermarket bagging system in the works?
Like to see the new Z Track 950 M
We will se what we can do. Thanks for watching!
how much gas dose it hold up to
They are all 4.5 gallon tanks on the Z500 series. Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment ok wow that seems alot of fuel
@@WesternEquipment can you put an utility cart behind it
@@WesternEquipment nice
Great video, thinking about getting this one
Thanks and that’s awesome! If you do then let me know how well you like it. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos and John Deere but I always wanted a Kawasaki engine over the Briggs and Stratton so is the Briggs EFI going to be a good choice
Yes, I really think so! Briggs has really stepped up their game in the past few years. John Deere continues to use them and if they were a problem child I believe John Deere would drop their engines and go with someone else. I'm impressed by this EFI engine and really think it will prove to be an awesome choice!
I think I would stick with the Kawasaki
Kawasaki engine is the only one I would go with...bulletproof
I bought one a month ago the only objection I got is, when I'm going down the road my front wheels at top speed just flop real bad, what causes that, and another thing I wish that it had with the seat, if it had a lumbar , and a reclining back it would be great for the price I paid someone give me a answer please
I'm still not sure why your front wheels are flopping like that. I will see if I can get any answers to this. Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment thanks please try too figure this out for me, this shouldn't be, it should roll smooth fast, just like it does slow, considering the price I paid for a 2021 new mower
@@WesternEquipment well have you got a answer too my question yet I really need too know thanks
Well done video.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Thank you for the comment and this is a good question that I wish I could answer, but I do not know on this one. I wish I could sell you one too. Love to help out my TH-cam people! Thanks for watching!
Where i live we call them prime movers which what you call engines.
Interesting. Thanks for watching!
First gang were you at ohh wait it's me🥇💪
Got it!
nice :)
I agree! Thanks for watching!
@@WesternEquipment ur welcome :)
so-so review. If you are spending the time to review a product then do a complete review! Fold down the ROPS bar and more.
Well this way mainly to show what was new in this series, but I will try to do better next time. Thanks for watching!
The ROPS is stupid. I'm tired of being imposed upon "for my own good".
If it keeps you from injury it’s not . Plus they fold down easily . Having the rops even helps with a canopy .
@@pyroman49wedd86 I keep myself from injury. Proper training and operational practices keep people safe from injury. The ROPS keeps John Deere safe from liability. Maternalism is never a static state of being, it is a slippery slope progression.
Jd biggest enemy of farmers.
Interesting, why so?
Why does this soy continue to say min when he should know that min is an abbreviation for minimum🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻🤦🏻♂️ ffs wake up jr.
Not sure what you are referring to here but thanks for watching!
