I appreciate the variety of music played during this battle. I think that R&B, Hip-Hop, etc are all considered REAL MUSIC. This was definitely a nice arrangement with dynamics, mood, movement, etc…. but I’m not going to label this one piece as “real music” simply b/c it’s a Harry Potter score, and not recognize the other songs as real music as well; cause they most certainly were.

This was fire…. NOW… GAMB gotta do Halo…. And actually have the members hum the opening of the song into the playing part..
Gamb just seemed to slightly outperform Noasb. Both groups had their little hiccups, but through it all, GAMB felt more musical, more tuned in.
As for NOASB, their trumpets seemed to get lost in the mix most of the time, which was a bit of a letdown. The saving grace was definitely their mellos - they really came through to back up the upper brass. And the trombones? Kinda gave me Talladega 2019 vibes - they were there, but not with the impact you'd expect.
So yeah, for me, this round went to GAMB.

The first note is B natural. So it sounds like it is wrong, but it is appropriate here.
This was executed well but to me, the arrangement was ok. I've watched all the Harry Potter movies 100 times, and I was missing something from this.

It’s not just whole notes and half notes, like listen to song bruh. Dynamics, phrasing, balance, execution, all on point. On top of it being just great song choice and a great arrangement. A song doesn’t need to be 3 minutes of runs to be good. Gamb has like 3 songs this year that are mostly whole notes and half notes and now if they not playing a technical etude every measure of every song niggas love saying “iTs jUst hoLe nOteS aNd hAlf nOteS”. Hating for the sake of hating gonna have you missing out on some good music.
