My family came from Toledo, Spain and settled in the mountain towns of Utuado and Jayuya. They were nominally Catholics celebrating baptisms and weddings in the Church and they ate pork but kept a few traditions like kissing the bread and not throwing it in the trash, good education, naming grandchildren after grandparents (never naming children after a parent), the name Esther was very common, pointing directly at stars was a taboo. I discovered that I was Jewish at age 13 when my grandparents told me that it was time for me to know that we were Jews from Jerusalem.

I'm in awe of your story. I have hundreds of matches on ancestry that are Puerto Rican with surnames like Vazquez, Colón, Ramos, Delgado, Leon, Flores, Sosa, Mendoza, etc. that says we are 5-8th cousins

@@David-re4ij Do you have the necessary documentation to make Aliyah? A ketubah, Jewish death certificate from a grandparent? I certainly didn't.
But my story gets better I went to Israel to the Sephardi town of Tzfat and there they gave me a ghiur bchumrah.
So there are two ways a person is Jewish: 1) matrilineally 2) by conversion.
Conversion to Judaism requires, among other things reciting a bracha (a blessing) before immersion in a mikvheh. But a Jew is forbidden to pronounce the name of G-d in vain.
So because I was in a "safek" (a halachic doubt) I couldn't participate in a minyan (just in case I wasn't born Jewish) but I also couldn't convert normally saying the full blessing (just in case I was born Jewish) before immersion in a mikveh.
The solution? A donor! I had to wait for a convert. The convert said one blessing both for himself and for me. I answered "amen" and then we both immersed in the mikveh.
That's how I got a proper ghiur by the Beit Din of Israel. I live now in Israel.
And if you're Jewish you have to come back home because the ingathering of the exiles is a real thing and you don't have to be a saint to partake in it. Just come as you are.

Who were promised their own land which is called Israel..through the bloodline of Abraham and Jacob..
      Checkit out
Israel is a Nation that was promise to the Hebrews and became a Nation of the 12 tribes and all tribes are considered Jews

Respectfully...history calls them jews but they’re converts, from Germany and of Eastern European descent, as stated. The actual Ju, from the lineage of Jacob, arrived on the island through the slave ships, from West Africa. Not to mention, the aboriginal people already occupying the island, before Spanish conquest...were their brothers, too. I love my people, although we’re truly a speckled bird.

Post diaspora of 70 a d. jews in Rome married southern Italian women who had converted to Judaism. ( read Halacha conversion to Judaism) they slowly more to Germany which they called Ashkenaz just as the Jews of Spain used Sefard for Spain. Wouldn't it be interesting if there were two brothers one moved to Spain Sefard and one to Germany Ashkenaz .The Jews of Ashkenaz spoke Yiddish which is Middle high German with loan words from Hebrew Aramaic and Slavic and Sefard jews spoke ladino many Ashkenazi Jews ended up in Poland and the Pale of Settlement the inquisition sent sephardic jews to the Ottoman empire, North Africa some children were sent to Sao tome many died there
One group of sephardic went Brazil but were forced to leave and some ended up in New Amsterdam when New Amsterdam became New York. My wife is sephardic her grandparents came from Kastoria,Greece and my grandparents came from the Pale of Settlement and spoke Yiddish and yes we were scattered to the four corners of the earth.

Is there Jewish influence among Puerto Ricans? The ignorance among both white and African-American citizens about who the so-called "Puerto Ricans" are should not be surprising, when even the islanders themselves DO NOT know who they are and what ethnic influences created them. The reality is that there are families of Jewish/Marrano or Sephardic origin, things that even my Rivera, Mattos, Rodrigues and Delgado Families ignore

You are correct re the name Castro as it does appear in sephardim website which features the complete roster of _Judios_ that were persecuted by the Inquisition.
However, the Bible does not restrict "Chosen" to just Jews. All 12 Israelite tribes were included among them. In the New Testament all who accept Jesus as Messiah are now included as well. Ephesians Ch 2,3 and Galatians 3.
Oh by the way, the shatkona (commonly known as the Star of David) is NOT Hebrew. It is pagan and was created by the same people who created the swastika. Please use the Menorah as that is Hebrew as shown in Exodus (25:31-40).
