Overton radar devices can have difficulty pinpointing which specific vehicle was speeding in a group setting. So, under Wyoming law requires that the officer prove beyond a reasonable doubt that your vehicle, and not another, was speeding. If the officer simply estimates based on general observations without clear, individualized proof (WHICH HE DID NOT) especially in cases with 3 vehicles this easily results in tickets being dismissed. This is such an easy ticket to dismiss it’s not even funny

They don't need to appear themselves, they can have a lawyer from Wyoming appear for them. Did the same a couple years ago, the lawyer extended the trial out to the max, like 2 years after my ticket. Cop probably didn't even show up for court after 2 years, ticket was dismissed. Paid the lawyer $180, less then ticket would of been in California and certainly less then the 3 years it would have been on my DMV record and increased my insurance premiums. Speeding tickets are just ways for the state/counties to make money. If it was actually for "safety" we'd put in speed cameras. You get me doing 10-15 over, but what about 50 people that passed doing the same speed I was doing while you gave me a ticket? Get the guy weaving in and out of traffic, where you'll be giving them more then just a speeding ticket, but many other laws broken and certainly the more dangerous driver.

That cop knew he was busted when you told him you were running a radar detector, that's why he tried to make up that there is a delay. I have been running "Radar Detectors" for years and NEVER read or heard or even seen a delay in them. He saw expensive cars with out of state tags and thought to himself, there is some money, they aren't from here so they won't fight it.

I had to attend a driver's education course in VA a while back and the officer teaching the course said the same thing. 'No, we don't have official quotas. But just think, if your job is to produce "X product" and at the end of a year, you don't seem to be producing as much product as your coworkers, you may be frowned upon."

I was a victim of this several years ago as well. In my state, we have a "Move-Over Law" in which you must move over at least one lane away from any stopped officers on the side of the road, but there's a contingency clause to where if you can't safely move over, you substantially decrease your speed. I got written up and sent to a defensive driving class under the assumption I didn't follow that law. I followed it, but I couldn't safely move over so I resorted to slowing down to ~15mph (over 40 under the limit, which everyone else was slowing to as well). The only reason I could think of the officer ticketing me even after I explained was that it was later in the month and she hadn't made many tickets at the time.

Never had a quota for tickets given or cash received. That is against the law. They did have a quota for stopping. So at the beginning of the month maybe they’d let you go with 7 over. But towards the end, if they haven’t met the contact requirements, then they wouldn’t. It doesn’t mean that they are any more likely to give you a ticket. Just more likely to stop you.
