- You may know ‘227’ as one of the funniest sitcoms of all time. While it was based in Washington, DC, few know it all started in Englewood with Ms. Christine Houston at Kennedy King College. That's where a new exhibit celebrates her story. Brandon Pope caught up with her to discover how she took her vision from stage to screen.
Thank you, loved watching 227!
Wonderful story! Grew up watching 227, Good Memories!!
Thank you Mrs. Christine Houston for creating one of the greatest TV sitcoms of my childhood. ❤️
She is awesome. I love that she was able to keep the rights to the script. Thanks for sharing.
I absolutely love it. Thank you for this!!!❤ Also, the number 227 means to trust yourself and your abilities.
We should have been known about this lady! 😊 227 was a great comedy show.
I am amazed of how this very beautiful and talented woman could come up with her own idea and given sound advice, put it on paper, search and find the right person or people to help get it going, and it became a hit show lasting a few good seasons. Amazing!!!! Thank You
so much Ms. Christine Houston.

The fact I have been seeing the number “227” like crazy lately and learning about Ms. Houston’s story, is a major confirmation for me as a writer. The number 227 means to “trust yourself and your abilities especially when it comes to decisions involving your life purpose”. Everything is connected and I’m glad this showed up! 💫

Chicago has so many Gifted Pioneers that are unknown, or underrated -
Thank You, Ms. Houston; You created a Masterpiece Classic.
* The Woman who created the Matrix and The Terminator, is also from Chicago. ✨
Great story about the history of one of my beloved tv shows. And this demonstrates the need to lean into creativity, but also negotiate to save your connection to the output when other people see the value and want to discard your ownership.
Thank you so much Mrs. Christine Houston I loved 227. God Bless you. ❤❤❤❤ Great TV Show. Black Excellence. ❤❤❤❤

She use to be a ticket agent for CTA, in the 70's and 80's. I remember when she was doing the play at Kennedy King College.

What a great show very positive and real life situation that happens in a black community.
there is alot of good in the hood and in the country. majority of the world's greatest creations comes from blacks from the hood or small country towns. dont let em fool ya
That first seen with the women sitting out on roost and Sandra walking out gives "Women of Brewster Olace" vibes😦

Excellent coverage of Ms. Houston, but Eric Monte created The Jeffersons and Good Times, NOT Norman Lear.
