I am a super big fan of The lord of the rings so I wish there was a free roam game where I could go to places like mordor and it is as big as it was In the movies.
Oh yeah that would be something, a huge open world RPG with depth, something in style of Witcher 3, Elder Scrolls, Gothic or Dragon Age even could work well, but even Assassin's Creed formula can be great, just richer and more detailed, following example of such games AC Origins (imagine river Anduin like Nile, with boats and large ships sailing around in between Cair Andros, Osgiliath, Pelargir down to the Ethir Anduin, with small stretch you could even add an occassional orc boat ;) doing raiding or something, well it was said that: " The passage of Anduin was won by the Enemy.... 'It is now seen that in secret they have long been building floats and barges in great numbers in East Osgiliath.' :)) or more like AC Black Flag and AC Odyssey, with naval combat, imagine sailing in ship in free roam on waters of Great Sea of Belegaer, exploring islands and shores of Middle-earth all across Bay of Belfalas, diving for pearls or sunken treasures and shipwrecks or sunken ruins, and countless other activities, imagine having sea battles with ships of Corsairs of Umbar and Haradrim vessels, or even sailing in an elven ship having crew of Teleri mariners singing in elvish :) hehe Teleri sea shanties ;) and exploring western islands, the remnants of Beleriand, the lore itself is giving lots of possibilities, Thorongil was fighting pirates on the sea after all and the famous raid on Umbar ;) "For he went in many guises, and won renown under many names. He rode in the host of the Rohirrim, and fought for the Lord of Gondor by land and by sea… The Return of the King, LoTR Appendix A, Annals of the Kings and Rulers: Here Follows a Part of The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen "Ecthelion II […] encouraged all men of worth from near or far to enter his service, and to those who proved trustworthy he gave rank and reward. In much that he did he had the aid and advice of a great captain whom he loved above all. Thorongil men called him in Gondor, the Eagle of the Star, for he was swift and keen-eyed, and wore a silver star upon his cloak; but no one knew his true name nor in what land he was born. He came to Ecthelion from Rohan, where he had served the King Thengel, but he was not one of the Rohirrim. He was a great leader of men, by land or by sea, but he departed into the shadows whence he came, before the days of Ecthelion were ended. Thorongil often counselled Ecthelion that the strength of the rebels in Umbar was a great peril to Gondor, and a threat to the fiefs of the south that would prove deadly, if Sauron moved to open war. At last he got leave of the Steward and gathered a small fleet, and he came to Umbar unlooked-for by night, and there burned a great part of the ships of the Corsairs. He himself overthrew the Captain of the Haven in battle upon the quays, and then he withdrew his fleet with small loss. But when they came back to Pelargir, to men's grief and wonder, he would not return to Minas Tirith, where great honour awaited him." The naval combat itself would be like middle ground between Black Flag with huge ship designs but more like in Odyssey, the ships of Numenorean design could be really huge like in real world Age of Sail (but without cannons and sparingly using oars :)): "When Aldarion had been five years ashore he began to busy again with his Mastership of Forests [...] ere long he turned again from forestry to the building of ships, and a vision came to him of a mighty vessel like a castle with tall masts and great sails like clouds, bearing men and stores enough for a town. Then in the yards of Rómenna the saws and hammers were busy, while among many lesser craft a great ribbed hull took shape; at which men wondered. Turuphanto, the Wooden Whale, they called it, but that was not its name. " Unfinished Tales, Part 2, Ch 2, Aldarion and Erendis Beautiful graphis with realistic designs would serve well to portray the beauty of Middle-earth, imagine the great cities of Gondor, Minas Tirith, Osgiliath, Harlond, Pelargir, Linhir, Dol Amroth as detailed and vast with lots of buildings to explore interiors, shops, taverns, with loads of NPC's to talk to with dialogue trees, and quests to take from, cities that would look as grand and nice as say...Novigrad from W3 or Oxenfurt or Beauclair, a step above the portrayal of Minas Ithil in Shadow of War, you couldn't even do anything interesting there, :) quite besides it being lore breaking in this game hehe. Mordor itself is far more detailed vaster and has more interesting locations than both Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War gave us, they did not use all available information from books, the region of Nurn is probably one of the missed opportunities, four rivers, the great Lake/Sea of Nurnen, why Monolith did it so lazy, where are those great slave worke fields? "Neither he nor Frodo knew anything of the great slave-worked fields away south in this wide realm, beyond the fumes of the Mountain by the dark sad waters of Lake Nurnen; nor of the great roads that ran away east and south to tributary lands, from which the soldiers of the Tower brought long wagon-trains of goods and booty and fresh slaves." "As far as their eyes could reach, along the skirts of the Morgai and away southward, there were camps, some of tents, some ordered like small towns. One of the largest of these was right below them. Barely a mile out into the plain it clustered like some huge nest of insects, with straight dreary streets of huts and long low drab buildings. About it the ground was busy with folk going to and fro; a wide road ran from it south-east to join the Morgul-way, and along it many lines of small black shapes were hurrying." The regions felt way too small, and not detailed enough, there should have been far more underground tunnels, whole labyrinths of them, secret passages and entrances. The potential for video games of Lotr as a franchise overall is enormous, there could be so much to do, so many side activities: "going off into the Blue for mad adventures. Anything from climbing trees to visiting Elves - or sailing in ships, sailing to other shores!" as Bilbo himself said in The Hobbit book hehe. It's a shame that so far Lotr has such poor luck when it comes to games, we need a dev studio which would truly have passion and love for source material and use books to full capacity, kind of like CD Projekt RED was for witcher franchise, which is after all a successful book series adaptation into video game format, let's hope we will see such a game one day set in Middle-earth.
why do game developers think its cool to make your character super overpowered so there's no real challenge, sense of realism or consequence to anything?
I was going to get this game till I watched this. Man the water and shit looks fake as hell. It looks boring if that’s all you do is run through everything without stopping.
vegabonzo73 ever heard of a story mode? Side activities and base raiding also hunting and getting new members. Meh whatever ur just one of them people who bitch when a game doesn't have what they want in it
