Chrome, you might have a few minutes of setting up your shower, but people living in sticks and bricks. Need to spend a lot longer cleaning their shower. I say you’re winning 👍

Trick an old blacksmith taught me for keeping propane tanks from freezing up - put it in a bucket of water! The water acts as a heat sink and keeps the tank from freezing as quickly, so the propane doesn't gel up.

Well thought - thank you for sharing! The water increases the mass the cold has to cool down, that makes the process slower, maybe get me through a particular cold night - and B. water takes up extra energie when going from fluid to solid, an extra goody only water provids for!

If you and Emi parked parallel and had an awning you could walk under it dry feeted. The outdoor shower would also be more comfy.

How nice to find a person you can share the shower with!
I am lucky like you, to find a lady who loves the outdoor shower, loves sleeping in a van rather than a hotel or AirBnB! Loves traveling, loves the lifestyle.

I think you hit a key word I have been looking for over several months: “process”.
Getting ready for a hot shot takes many steps (versus a sticks and bricks). Using and having fresh wash. Having LP. Emptying tread. Getting rid of “poop”.
Making sure there is enough gas.
I love the nomads life, but as you touched on, it has so many different challenges.
    Great video brother Chrome!

Little inconveniences are just that. Do them often enough, they become less of an inconvenience and more of a routine without thinking about it as an inconvenience. 😊 You two just took a shower without tapping into your own water supply in the vans with heat! That’s awesome!

We just installed ours. We went ahead and put it on the wall and cut a hole in the van for the shower head and hot and cold handles which locks up nice when not in use. Also, got that shower curtain you were talking about that fits at least 2, but I swear it's so huge you could fit 3 but that's just getting freaky! Haven't used it yet. Van is almost finished though!

Propane does not 'gel' the bottle is freezing due to the draw of the appliance. So it is due to the loss of vapor pressure that the appliance will stop working. So the 20 lb tank and even the water trick will help. We use tank heaters and vaporizers to heat the liquid propane to vapor in industrial situations during winter months.

Even in our 33 foot boat We clean & leave it ready for our next trip out, water tank (1000 litres), fuel tank 800 litres, & the list goes on, It’s not a modern boat ,built in 1989. But it is all we need to go fishing & crabbing out of.We are 77 &75 now, & semi retired,& love the freedom of sailing around the bay. Safe travels to you & Emile, from Elaine, Queensland, Australia.

Hi!!! Been enjoying your content for a while. Great work! Today I saw you raving about a French press. I think you will be amazed if you gave the Aeropress a try. It’s about $49 bucks and makes awesome coffee. Research it. Get one. CLeans up in a second. No fuss. No mess. No water needed to clean it. I promise. It’s my preferred brewing method over pour over or French press or drip etc. aero press. From the makers of the aerobie frisbee. ☺️👍💥

    They even individually heated. .

Want an even better cup of coffee, imo. Go to Coyote coffee (Parksville), get Bali Blue (as a suggestion), and use an AeroPress coffee maker, similar to a French press but the coffee is ground finer, therefore a better extraction. I got a travel AeroPress for my van, small and easy to store. Now that’s a cup of coffee!!😁💛

Chrome, wear those socks to bed when it's cold! A friend gifted me a bunch of warm fluffy socks a few years ago, the kind of socks that won't really fit into shoes, I suppose, but I didn't even try. If you keep them on overnight, they'll really help keep you warm! The van looks great, btw; all the upgrades have really improved things a lot. So does Cruzy (look great, I mean), and you too, you seem a lot happier than you were a few years ago when I first started watching your videos. (I have some catching up to do; maybe I'll binge-watch over the holidays if I can wait that long.) And I too swear by French presses.
But, heck, I live in an apartment and it takes me much longer than you to prepare a hot shower. Heating the water, depending on factors such as overnight temp - takes 15 to 45 minutes. Leaving the water heater on non-stop would ruin a person financially. Sometimes, I leave it on for a full day or so and then benefit from that for a few days, but that only works when the weather isn't cold, otherwise the water will just cool again. I also try to make use of any warm water that is still left after the shower for laundry and doing dishes as much as I can.

I've use a coffee press for years. 🔴YOU DON'T HAVE TO WASH IT WITH WATER!! 🔴 I have a rubber spatula that I use to scrape the grounds out. Then I just tap most of the grounds out of the lid. Because I use it every day, it doesn't matter if there are a few grounds still in it from the day before. I haven't washed it in years and I'm still alive. It's just coffee grounds and water. Now, if you were to not use it for a long time (like if you went away on a holiday or something), wash it and store it with the lid tilted so it doesn't get moldy inside. But day to day use ~ no washing required.

We might take longer to get back on the road, but I wouldn't trade that inconvenience for having to clean a house. Every weekend I spent the whole weekend doing laundry, cleaning the house, doing yard work, going grocery shopping, yadda yadda yadda. Yes I still have to do laundry but guess what? It only takes me a couple of hours to do five loads cause I’m doing them all simultaneously at the laundromat. Just cleaning a house and doing the yardwork would take entire weekends over and over again. so to be slightly inconvenienced every morning is a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. By the way I love the outdoor shower set up. I need to look into it. Stay safe and have the time of your life. 😎🚐🥾

Little French Press tip: They make them in double walled stainless steel. I broke 3 glass ones before I thought about looking for a stainless one. One more tip: if you rinse them out right after you pour the coffee, it's easier to rinse out. I think as it cools off, it becomes more like a brick.

I found one with a platform that sits at the bottom, that you pull out by an attached handle, dump the grinds, rinse, done. Of course, that's after you are done with coffee. 😉
