Unfamiliar with Duck Hunt? What?! No, just no, I'm not even going to bother asking why.
Using a Python script, Brad takes your favorite 8-bit NES games and scrambles the bytes. These are the results.
Ah yes, the infamous zapper game Duck Hunt. The one game that could make anybody hate man's best friend. Sure, you can't shoot the dog (you can in the arcade version though!) but you sure as fuck can corrupt the living piss out of him, as well as the rest of the game. Enjoy!
Next game to get corrupted: Duck Tales
Want to make you own corruptions? Visit zophar.net for emulators, tools, and more!
So, I can morph into a Duck and fly across the screen? Huh, neat...
You even turn mountain size!
And I can float upwards while holding a duck or laughing
Also at 2:54 You barked 4 times instead of 3.
4:14 A short epic remix of the dog's laughter.
Someone should sample that an make some sort of electronic remix out of it.
3:30 that must be a giant dog!!!
HUEG PUPPER
@@BradCorrupts Clifford but he's not red.
With the right palette hacks he could be, lol.
*Dog:* i have to Go, My planet needs me.
4:02
Dat dog!
...at 2:44, 2:54 and 3:32.
You should try corrupting Star Fox for the SNES.
I did try disassembling the game a few months back, didn't get super far but the following should be accurate. In case you need info regarding where certain data is:
Bank $00 contains important data, such as the model pointer table, in the first 3/4 or so.
Bank $01 is where the main SuperFX code is located (all the object models get rendered here).
Bank $02, $03, and $1F are important as they contain the game engine code.
Bank $04 contains code to run behavior command lists (used for basic objects which don't need much AI).
Banks $05 and $0D contain level data (don't corrupt this or the game will probably crash when that level is loaded).
Bank $06-$0B contain player/enemy/object behavior code (there's a small bit of SuperFX code at the end of bank $06).
Banks $0C and $0E-$11 contain the model data.
Banks $12-$13 contain the main textures used by models.
Banks $14-$17 contain the compressed 2D background graphics.
Banks $18-$1E contain music data (there's some at the beginning of bank $1F as well).
That is some great information, but someone would have to bid/donate on the game in order for it to get on the playlist. I think it would be a pretty interesting game to corrupt though.
@@BradCorrupts Oh okay. You did a good job on this one though.
Thanks! I liked how this one turned out. :)
Changes:
Iteration 1:
"F" is apparently a number (Plus, 2nd 0 was replaced with a 1)
The dog and duck are looking nice today...
Iteration 2:
The musician is drunk.
The dog's molecular-shifting body eventually transforms him into a duck
Iteration 3:
The musician is drunk... again
Clay Shooting lacks I-frames and is completely fucked
Iteration 4:
The grass is feeling a _little_ blue
The ducks don't like getting shot, so they crash the game.
Iteration 5:
The dog believes he can fly, so he flies across the screen and resets the game
The dog interrupts Clay Shooting to ruin your experience (and changes the palette)
Iteration 6:
Why can't Nintendo stop hiring drunk musicians?
The dog jumps in the ground for whatever reason other than he can.
The dog jumps really high when taking the ducks and sometimes takes them to heaven, which he comes back from hell to return.
The dog can apparently sing
Iteration 7:
The game has becomes REALLY unstable at this point with the screen moving all over the place with defective pixels everywhere.
The dog is taking its sweet time popping out of the ground... or maybe he's too scared to face the disaster happening?
Upon getting a game over, the dog faces his fears and inevitably becomes a glitch.
Iteration 8:
You may not see it, but there's a defective pixel on the top left.
The point notification takes its sweetass time to show up
Iteration 9:
Duck Hunt, but nothing is there and every shot makes the game a little more fucked up
Iteration 10:
Part of the high score take up the arrow options
YOU'RE WINNER
4:46
Duck hunt against a earthquake.
3:30 Superdog to the rescue!!!!
I love your corruption videos :D
The dog is so happy that you caught two ducks that he jumps high into the air LOL!
"During bonus stages in Vs. Duck Hunt, the dog jumps out from the grass as a distraction to players as they try to shoot ducks, thus putting himself in the line of fire and enabling a player to inadvertently shoot him. If he is shot, the bonus round ends."
Just played it now (using nestopia), you can totally shoot the dog (in the bonus round).

5 - DOG BECOMES A FUCKING DUCK AND TAKES OFF. WHAT
3:52 You are VERY lucky; YOU'VE ENCOUNTERED A SHINY DUCK!
Iteration 1: ClusterDuck And ClusterDog
Iteration 2: Wtf
Iteration 3: Looks like the game gremlin shat too hard.
Iteration 4: Ehh Nothing Wro- OH CRAP!
Iteration 5: The dog just wants some privacy to mark his territory in the air.
Iteration 6: Ehh. Its a bit corrupted.
Iteration 7: OH GOD! WE ARE AT MACH 17! 0s AND 0s! I believe this is Round -1. And it gets worse.
Iteration 8: Nothing.
Iteration 9: Don't shoot! The seizure will get worse!
Iteration 10: You're winning! Round 25 and more?
then flies away when you get one. WTF?!
2:43 SAY WHAT!? XD This is hilarious! XD
Viper00799 m
duck hunt is such an awesome game
I'll be seeing that dog in my nightmares now, thanks.
Look a bit more closely at the explosion animation. Subtle, but amusing.
2:02 Game Over Hunt Lol
4:02 Ok that was a little creepy
DAT. was too funny
definately 5 or 9! great job here brad!
That numbers thing doesn't work anymore
fuckkkk man number 6 was creepy
Woulkd t be possible to send me the python script and the tools i need to use it?
Corrupters aren't "platform specific." All it does is change bytes in a binary file. If anything, my scripts are rom specific, as each rom store data differently.
I probably won't be doing SNES games for a while. Earthbound is even more unlikely, as I'd probably have to reverse engineer that rom if there's a lot of unknown compressed graphical data, and I don't know SNES assembly.
"Sure, you can't shoot the dog (you can in the arcade version though!)"
SAY WHAT?
@bmecoli Yes, I can handle it!
6:52 duck 10.30000 hun. whats up wit dat?
just some 5th world duck hunting.
3:55 Lost Silver. A.K.A dog with no back legs!
3:55
LOL No. 4 duck shot to bits and pieces
No.6: Dog @ helium
No.7: Now that's corrupt!
No.9 : Grey screen of death
No. 10: Epic loss :D
Very funny glitches :D. You have very good corruption vids! I made some of my own, including Duckhunt, if you like you can watch them, just search my video's.
0:25 Those are some really easy to hit ducks! By the way, if your using an emulator, why aren't I seeing a cursor?
3:30
Dog: Nope!
*transform into a duck and disappears*
*game resets
3:30
2:40
The dog was weird at the first corruption
Fucking lost it at 6.
@gmodfan11 Sorry for forgetting to reply, but just as a heads up, my script is not for the faint of heart at all. You sure you still want it?
2:44 WHAT THE HECK
7 - BLARG I AM CTHULU
#10 skip all levels :3 Very funny
Can you use the controller to shoot the ducks instead of using the NES Zapper?
No, not really.
I'm guessing it could be hacked in somehow. Would take some pretty extensive ASM coding, though.
#2 - Hit me. I dare you.
Now we can laugh at the disabled dog >:D
5:01, Did that says Round 01?
At 1:47 on the top, does that say sh•t?
1:47

Thumbs up of at 2:44-2:46 you lol'd
You have something to Me because iam using Apple computer? Iam must get the fuck out because iam an Apple user. Common :(
It's mainly a "Fuck you" to the hipster youtubers out there that think that in order to do any sort of serious video production that you NEED a mac, which is absolute rubbish. That and apple sucks in general.
I dont have anything to you and iam noot wanna be that hipsters youtubers. So yea iam neutral to Microsoft and Apple
You never need a Mac to edit videos. You just need a video editing PC build or even a 2008 prebuilt computer.
