What a great idea to make it possible for one to try old style living. The rooms inside have no windows and are quite dark without artificial lighting. I wonder whether that's why the shoji can be opened up anywhere so that the rooms can receive natural light from the inner courtyard.
Somehow I get the feeling that having a sharp sword (or other weapon) around for visitors to freely play with is something only Japanese service providers would dare to risk.
