What a bunch of crap! Practically none of the vignettes shown in this video accurately depicts competent vehicular cycling. Almost every clip showed someone doing something incredibly stupid. Vehicular cycling hasn't increased ridership because this country is so car-centric that attitudes (and even laws) have been favoring the motorized vehicles for decades and so people have been terrorized onto the edges of the road (the most dangerous place to be) or completely off them all together. You can highlight the increased ridership that protected bike lanes have brought to New York City all you want but I have biked in New York City and have been stunned by the number of cyclists who (1) run red lights, (2) don't stop for pedestrians, (3) don't look around to judge their environment, (4) don't use hand signals, and (5) RIDE THE WRONG WAY IN THE BIKE LANE!!! I am a vehicular cyclist and I can tell you from long personal experience that it is not only a superior way to ride, it is a safer and easier way to ride. Just because it looks dangerous doesn't mean it is dangerous. The skills can be learned and it doesn't have to take three whole months.
@@thorstenerle3003 I've biked in Europe, France mostly, and I can tell you that when I hold a lane against cars in France they pay attention and get in line and wait patiently like they're supposed to do. They're actually way better about it than Americans. If you're proactive, you can control everything around you. If you're reactive, you've lost the battle without even firing a shot.
@@psycholist724 Sounds like you dont value your live your have to ride a rache bike and dont use it on a day to Day Basis and even if you do the nedet speed to do IT savliy can only be arcivet by like 2% of the Bikers
@@thorstenerle3003 I value my life enough to keep drivers from bumping me off the road by operating in the same place they do. Which I'm allowed to do. By law. Sorry you aren't capable of taking control. I am.

Why do you hate road cycling so much?
I don't! Not everything is a veiled criticism.
