In India, the government doesn't tax the unorganised sector. Among the rest, business class gets the opportunity to pay minimum or low tax whereas the salaried class has to pay the maximum tax without any other alternatives. On top of that, low or no salary hike from the employers with no job security in case of private jobs.

sir - I am an engineer from late 70s from OU. I have consciously taken a decision in not pushing my son into engineering and i let him pursue his own career path. no heavens will fall on earth if one does not do engineering from IITs or an MBA from IIMs etc. The entire percentage of students who are out of IITs and IIMs is so minuscule or rather the other way - the non IITs and IIMs are in large numbers and are still able to make a living. yes dream cars, houses may not be in reach, but if all aspire for such a life style where does one end his "dreams". everyone [parents included] are running after excessive money or monetary goals and in the process the children are not able to live a normal life. maybe i am wrong, but money is important but not end all. regards

One should only go into engineering if you WANT to be an engineer.
There are much better paths to make a lot of money unless you start you own engineering company or invent a product or service.
I’ll never understand why anyone would go into engineering if they don’t enjoy the subject. I know some of these “engineers” and they don’t even think like engineers… most of them don’t “engineer” anything and can’t even change their own cars oil.

@@princeofheaven19 I’m just saying these are mechanical engineers with literally no engineering inclinations. Real engineers are curious and and grew up taking things apart and building things. But some just go to engineering school because they are told that an engineering degree or medical degree are signs of success and wealth, and then complain that they’re not making money so they just take on middle management jobs.
My point is, a parent should only encourage engineering or medical school if the kid has natural interest or inclinations, not just to get a job and appear “successful”.
If you just want a good income and dont care how you get it, there are MUCH easier ways than by getting an engineering degree.

The one good (but indirect) takeaway from this video is to take control of your career. Never depend on any job or company more than a limit, how much ever sweet promises they might give you. That's by focusing on improving your own skillset and marketability, and viewing the job as just a tool to do this (so, any time, you have other competing employers wanting to hire you). Also, it's very important to create a second or third income stream so that you can reduce your own financial dependency on the job as much as possible.

Degrading jobs have become normal nowadays.. I am from a very poor family and working in IT for past 7+ years.. It helped me set tha base for my family.. I have built my home and living comfortably.. Upskilling and staying relevant is the key in IT.. If you are relevant and keep upskilling the in demand technologies, there are lot of companies who are willing to pay the compensation you want.. Moreover getting into business is something which not everyone can do right away.. All those middle class families in India, who don't even have a proper living cannot go to doing business right away.. They need some comfortable living first and then take calculated risk.. So if you have the right skills companies are willing to pay more than you expect.. I have personally experienced it myself..

Techies don't create wealth because of financial illiteracy and lack of temperament. They get a salary and decide to splurge. They don't develop investing habits. The only way to wealth is to invest in inflation beating assets. Even with a low salary, good wealth can be created but frugal living is necessary in the beginning and then increase the living standards as the invested wealth increases. Unfortunately, most techies follow expensive lifestyles as if they'll get a salary forever.
Fun fact: Investment in land, flat and chit funds are stupid ways to create wealth. Equity is the best medium for long term wealth generation.

When a company is unable to offer a 15% salary increment year after year, it is advisable to consider moving to another company. Similarly, it's important to acknowledge that if an employee's performance is lacking, the company may also decide to terminate their employment. It's crucial not to mislead individuals in the IT industry by overly emphasizing the value of switching companies. This industry, perhaps more than any other, highly values its workforce. However, frequent transitions between companies shouldn't be encouraged without careful consideration. Such behavior has significantly contributed to the decline of actual coding among developers in India. Many begin by switching jobs frequently, eventually moving into managerial positions, and ceasing to code. It is well-understood that only those with extensive experience and stability can develop high-quality applications.
I am also part of this industry and never advise people to switch companies solely for an increase in CTC (Cost to Company).

Appreciate your content. I have another perspective as well. Types of Pressure (Pressure that we put on ourselves and Societal pressure) can be changed very much easily as we work on ourselves which constitutes only a few percentage in the overall pressure. But, the majority of it is the pressure that leaders put on us by giving almost impossible deadlines and promising to clients about early completion of work (Most selfish Leaders). I think a good product based companies in India have better work life balance and much more happier work environment (Based on my Friends at Product based companies). As we bash the leaders on one hand, its important to note that as an employees everyone should do their work sincerely without wasting time on a longer breaks, unnecessary chit chats and not complaining about Monday Blues or Early winding up of work at Friday. I don't think so this work culture will heal anytime soon as even if there is a massive protest because there are lot of people who are ready to work more than 12 hours in a Service/Consulting based companies

Pavan in my past I had applied to more then 2000 companies by cold email and attracted them through my LinkedIn post. And believe me the results are amazing. And NOTE majority of my work is done by the use of AI. So if you want someone to work with you as a team I might be the one. NOTE this comment was personally written by me not the AI .

Salaried Indian work , life and tax balance ..!!
    Total working years 40
Tax paid (direct + indirect) 40%
Home loan tenure of 20 years with 50% salary as EMI
Number of years work for tax 16 years
Number of years for match box house in slum city like mumbai emi 10 years, for taking care of parents health and kids education it take 5 to 6 years CTC.
Daily spent 4 hours avg in travel so total number of years in travel 4 years ( assuming 5 days week )
actual life for self = 40-(16+10+4+5) = 05 years only!!
that to be with zero social security and infinite stress tension and anxiety ... !! my own view might be wrong !!

Start a side income idea..try small business in your home town.. remember jobs are just wage slavery there was no 9-5 job slavery 300 years back.. people were doing business through trade amongst themselves and people were doing only agriculture..banks give loans to big corporations..big corporations build something for the customers and sell it.. government make sure all the rules and regulations favouring the rich elites..now who are the customers? We are..if we stop promoting these foreign brands and start a self sustainable living..these greedy corporates will eventually fall and people will start realising they don't need to depend on 9-5 jobs for survival..

this settling in or building career in software industry is a myth. gone are those years wen IT jobs r on demand. ther r lakhs of engineers out ther competing u. thers literally rat race and no guarantee of job or no job security. and now the fears of AI ! traditional businessmen are doing well financialy as wel as mentally than an average software employee. and if u see any software MNCs 90% engineers are indians . people in US r running the businesses and indians r working under them. we are missing our culture tradition and everything in the course of this journey. as in day in day out we speak english and english only foegetting our mother tongue. now its time we need to turn over the tables. lets enter into either businesses and entrepreneurship if u hav good ideas. getting a job must b the last option and not the dream.
