Everlast must like you. Came with a torch sleeve. Trust me. I had the same tig box. They pre-packed that case before they sent it to you. Never got a torch sleeve. No one else ever did either. However its a good machine.

Haha! Did the same thing recently where I had to shave off a little from some washers. Made a mandrel from a screw and a nut, clamped the drill in the vise and made a "speed controller" with a c-clamp. Hit it with the file, Bob is now my aunt's brother! That little everlast looks really nice, seems to be the right thing for the average every day fun project. Interested to see, how it is keeping up with a whole day of welding railings!

@@whitey7388 except that he’s right. I’ve been doing this for over 55 years. It’s forbidden to wear gloves with any standing rotating machine. Doing that will quickly get you fired from any competent shop. Saying that he’s a keyboard fabricator is just stupid and insulting. You’re wrong. Period.

I worked with a lady that used Gloves on a drill press bad mistake, thumb of glove caught in drill and ripped her thumb off, would hate to see what a high speed lathe would do to you, Love your show by the way, A big thank You for your efforts from Australia
There is some Aerodynamics at play with your vane. As a 'general rule of thumb' a symmetrical airfoil (flat plate will be a little different) has a neutral pitching moment with around 23-25% of the area in front of the pivot point. If you run the pivot behind that the vane will be unstable. The point being way more area behind the pivot is needed.
I was going to say the same thing. And then use some weights to balance the arrow at the pivot as needed so it rotates smoothly. In the end, the back half has to be lighter or thinner or you add weight to the head to balance it out. A lot of times, the arrow head is not as tall/wide to reduce surface area but heavier gauge to even out the mass
Spacer.... deck of cards can be any size spacer you need. Google images shows MANY wind vanes. Tail end is ALWAYS a lot bigger, to grab the wind and turn it down wind. That action always turns the point into the wind.
That's almost it - you need the wind to exert more moment at the rear than at the front when it's pointing off the wind. You achieve that with the same surface area each side, but more of the area further away from the pole at the back. That means the wind applies a given force on a longer lever at the back, so that dominates. When you see a cockerel silhouette used as a wind vane, you'll see that they're usually sitting significantly back from their centre of mass. There is more area at the back, but the point is that there's more moment. You could have two identical vertical discs on a horizontal pole with the front one close to the mounting pole, and the rear held off away from the pole and it would work. front O-||------O rear
I would absolutely purchase a tall variant if I had a job and could afford to. I have only ever found a tall variant of a shirt once and I fucking loved it. While I dont expect you to adjust your inventory because I want to purchase a shirt at some point in time, If there was a way to keep the option open, I will happily purchase one as some point in time in the near or "not-quite-near-but-not-really-far-enough-away-to-call-it-the-far" future. If you want your weather vane to work well, especially over a long period of time, then there are a few things you need to consider. Firstly, it needs the arrow to face into the wind, so the arrow point should have a very small surface area which could be affected by the wind. It also means that the tail end “feather” shall have a much larger surface area. The weather vane needs to be balanced so that it hangs freely, so that it is not inclined to bind on the vertical shaft. The pointed end of the weather vane should be shorter than the tail end, but to enable this pointed end to balance the long tail end, the arrow point needs to be made of much heavier material which can balance the weight of the tail end. Secondly, if you want the weather vane arrow to always point into the wind, then there needs to be the smallest possible amount of friction between the weather vane and the vertical shaft on which it is mounted. This is important because a slight breeze may not provide much energy to point the vane in the correct direction. It must be understood that the weather vane will be exposed to all sorts of inclement weather, so the bearing must be totally weather resistant to be able to withstand dust, rust, and water which may settle on the surfaces of the vane and its vertical support. The problem is that the weather vane is likely to be mounted high above the ground, in a position where it is not easily serviceable, and cannot be lubricated easily. In other words you want to support the weather vane with a good bearing which is unaffected by harsh weather conditions. A very effective way of achieving all of these requirements is to use a single ball bearing as follows. Fasten the weather vane arrow near the bottom of a tube which is about half as long as the arrow. The top of that tube should have a completely weatherproof cap which can accommodate a single ball bearing which is about the same diameter as the vertical shaft. This shaft should have a small detent in its top end, in which the ball bearing may rest, and the weather vane should be slipped onto the shaft. If the ball bearing is well lubricated with graphite grease when it is assembled, it should function well for a very long time. Even though most kinds of grease can dry out over time, the graphite will provide a long term low-friction environment, and because of the length of that tube it is unlikely that moisture will get close to the ball bearing. If you want to make it look “pretty”, then some sort of decoration could be fastened to the top of the weatherproof cap of the weather vane. Just make sure that the top of the decoration is not higher than the level of the ball bearing.
A wind vain has to have one side with a higher wind resistance then the other so it will point towards the wind, that is why you see a lot with animals ect on the tail end.

You may be able to get an adapter pigtail for the power connector so you can use your torches on either welder.

the pointer of the arrow should be a lot further from the pivot point of the arrow so the pointer will show the direction of the wind
