Bax I have one Akai Am -U210 Amp a mate found a local tip is was no go due to STK 463 being Us it had taken both fuse plus a couple safety resistors, After replacing the STK 463 and other items came up with full power, As you said is excellent amp I use in the workshop and Baz you remarks it is made Japan,I think owner would be very pleased with your repair,Ian
So it was the fuse, and the balance is working now. How clever. Because it is Christmas time, everything is costly now, you get a hot meat pie (Traditional Aussie brand) from the servo and a small can of Coca Cola. Enjoy. And Merry Christmas to you and family. Cheers
I notice that you did not test the phono input which contains a RIAA compensation circuit plus phono amplifiers which could be noisy or even dead . Also did you check that the loudness switch did anything? Just my thoughts as I have had phono preamps go noisy and some transistor units dead ones.
