    The title is a bit misleading, but it is mentioned in the video: Sri Thanu is the vegan beach for sure, but that leaves 95% of the island who eats meat 2-3 times per day, 7 days a week....Being vegan, or even vegetarian is not really understood by thai people, who puts fish sauce, shrimp paste or shredded pork everywhere unfortunately.
    There are a few vegetarian or vegan places across the island but they are sometimes hard to find.
    So if you are a conscious vegan, Sri Thanu is definitely the place to be, it is absolutely correct that you'll be very far away from the full mooners (idiots getting waisted all day long wearing fluo t-shirts), you'll just meet a few of them on the boat taking you to the island and that will be enough :)
    Ah, and just a little note, the first scene with the beautiful sunset on the stripe of sand is not in Sri Thanu, it's in Hin Kong, 5 minutes south (so it's really close, and there's a splendid vegan restaurant there as well, the "Ananda")

    I have been to Koh Phangan many times, But there were not many vegan restaurants then. I'm heading back in September for a few weeks, and staying in Srithanu, and I can't wait! I hope to meet lots of fellow vegans. If you have free time in September, Coe and join me!

    Tnx Ken, I'm at Thailand right now and I was just wondering for how many days I should visit Koh Phangan and where should I stay, seeing all those lovely vegan options on the island really helped me make a better choice.

      Hello! I would recommend no less than 4 days in Koh Phangan. I would recommend looking up places on the west coast of the island near where these restaurants are on HappyCow. www.happycow.net/asia/thailand/koh_phangan/ Be sure to rend a bicycle or scooter to get around!

    Sri Thanu district is an island? What kind of title is that? And with what might be less than 1% of all restaurant I doubt this will ever happen.

    Although "vegan island" is somewhat misleading, it does spark the imagination. I'd like an island where the Law of Love prevails and hence is not only vegan, but also cooperative, non-coercive, clothing optional, polyamory, psychedelic, etc. A place where the great ideal of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" was allowed and actually practiced.

    • @jdstep97
      @jdstep97 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cozplay Exactly. I was misled, too, by the label of "vegan island". I agree with your other comments.

    I wish Indian cities where animal slaughter and meat are officially banned by government go Vegan too..then it will truly be a Vegan paradise. Because if it is not officially banned to slaughter animals, it cannot be called a Vegan city, town, island, etc. Anyone can do anything there..its just a preference or option built over time.

    Please hire an exciting vegan spokesperson to make vegan a positive image. Get a wireless microphone which you do not need to hold "old school style". Seriously?!!! You are the reason vegans have a negative image. If you are going to do voice overs -- great. But please do not appear on camera old school style. Get some 2018 recording gear. I just cringe as I was on Red Carpets interviewing "A-Listers" 10 years ago with more sophisticated recording and interview techniques than this. I am cringing. -- URBAN TECH SAVVY FILM INDUSTRY VEGAN

      Hello. I was not paid to make this video. I had some inexpensive equipment, and I brought it with me to Thailand, and decided to make a little video. I felt there was a story to be told, and I did my best to tell the story. That video was over 3 years ago, and since, we invested in a camera with an audio in and a wireless microphone. Here is a more recent video of London VegFest: th-cam.com/video/2l4G5D-QgB8/w-d-xo.html HappyCow is not a large corporation. The money we make from app sales goes directly back into app development. We are not a media company, but a company to help people more easily find vegan food. You are coming from the film industry. I don't think I am a model, or great looking, or a great spokesperson for the vegan cause, but I do my best to convey a story. Based on the other comments and the fact that others have referred to this video in their own videos as the reason they went to Koh Phangan, I feel I accomplished what I set out to accomplish.
