    He hasn’t changed, and neither has his stories and voice. He’s straight up. Doesn’t pretend to be something he’s not. Love that about him!!

    I listened to Styx since the late 70's, "Pieces of Eight" and "Come Sail Away" are on my TH-cam channel, piano 🎹 version. Great respect for Dennis and the group. I will soon record,"On Dessert Moon", Dennis's solo hit. Thanks for allowing me to share this.

    Wow just going through you page and you have some incredible stuff!! Used to watch New Music every Sunday back in the early 80’s. Would always look forward to it. I remember Christopher Ward had his Friday and Saturday night over night video show on City Tv back in 83/84 before Much Music.

    if dennis did not take them to court for control over the name of the band styx there probably would be a reunion tour.

    • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242
      @classicarcadeamusementpark4242 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unlikely. They made the decision to live their lives on the road and make the band a non-stop touring machine that comes around so many times, your almost sick of seeing the band. It was more exciting when the band was playing bigger shows as the headliner, and more special when they did come around....and with their best line-up.
      Dennis had every right to resist wanting to live his life on the road. A reasonable touring schedule was fine with him. What the band wanted to do was not reasonable of him, and only the select few want that kind of life style living in hotels sitting around for hours, and always on the tour bus never ending.

    • @larslevinberget9558
      @larslevinberget9558 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@classicarcadeamusementpark4242 And why Dennis, and not the other guys? He actually developed an allergy against LED-lights that have now replaced the Edison bulbs, so he couldn't go on as wearing specs are not effective enough. I suffer some of the same, blurred vision for days or weeks. Just like Jon Anderson couldn't tour with YES anymore, as the oil-based smoke machines ruined his voice :/ Bill Bruford and Steve Howe were relentless, and didn't care for Anderson and Squires health unfortunately :(

    • @classicarcadeamusementpark4242
      @classicarcadeamusementpark4242 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@larslevinberget9558 The band didn't give Dennis proper time to recover and diagnose his problem. You'd think after all they went through together, and all the fame & fortune they he brought you'd think they could have waited longer.
      Yes was a similar situation. Jon Anderson ended up in a coma because of the smoke machines, and the band didn't wait for him. Bill Bruford had exited the band immediately following the Yes Reunion tour in 1991 which I attended. He had nothing to do with the band continuing without Anderson. It was likely Squire & Howe that made that decision to tour without Anderson.
      Because these bands made the decisions to leave out key members of their band that important lead vocalists & song writers in the bands, I have generally only attended their shows when I got free tickets, or my friends dragged me and tickets were cheap anyway. I consider them both a "Tribute Band+". Seeing a tribute band of your favorite bands is still fun, but not the same. The "+" is an added bonus, but both of these bands were way more appealing when Deyoung & Anderson were part of them. They basically lost me as a customer. Casual fans who don't even know who's in the band care less about that. And if I'm paying good money to attend a concert, you can bet I know who all the members are in the bands. Apparently, there are a lot of people unlike me that go to concerts.

    His ego destroyed Styx

    • @waltersimmons946
      @waltersimmons946 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Not true at all. Deyoungs songs 🎵 were Styx ' biggest hits and I'm not talking about BABE .Tommy Shaws only top 10 hit to this day 👉 TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS . Styx was a progressive rock band in the early years but that style didn't produce hits. Back in the 70s if a band didn't produce hit singles the record label would eventually drop you. Dennis improved as a songwriter that's why the band got hits, sold albums and had sold out concerts .The band as a whole all contributed to the success to be fair. If it wasn't for the GRAND ILLUSION album and COME SAIL AWAY. .Styx would've never become headliners. Ego had nothing to do with it. It was the drive to succeed.

      @@MrRealpainter According to Chuck Panozzo in his book J.Y and Tommy also had "EGOS" which honestly has been more easy to see since Deyoung has been OUT of the band. The problem wasn't really the albums . The problem was J.Y and Tommy wanted to tour more and Deyoung didn't want to be on the road as much after BRAVE NEW WORLD came out. Plus Deyoung still has problems with "LIGHT SENSITIVITY " to this day. Since Deyoung has done tours with "THE MUSIC OF STYX" yep, his band , to say he was against touring is also a lie. Shaw and Young wanted power themselves. Problem is neither one can write or create hits like Deyoung back in the day or even now. But hey? I do like the album "THE MISSION" . It's not really STYX but more like a "TOMMY SHAW AND FRIENDS" album. J.Y should've sung more on that album.

      @MrRealpainter No , I don't think so. No one can control what comes into their lives, especially by outside forces. You should know better. Keep living . You'll "whine" about something sooner or later. Life is that unpredictable .
