2015-2018 planetside is the most nostalgic for me. All of those old esamir bases, harassers with third seat repair, scatmaxes being totally ridiculous, the weird jankiness of vehicle physics and debris, the way the ui looked and the pre-killcam death screens all take me back so hard. It's been getting harder and harder for me to find a reason to keep playing this game now that all of my friends have moved on from it (especially now that helldivers is out) but I'm really gonna miss it when it's gone. It's such a one of a kind game.
One of my favorite times playing PS2 was NC holding TI alloys for like 3 hours, VS streaming over the rock bridge, TR completely commanding the field out the south side of the base. Waaay back before all the changes.
I kind of wish I was playing during that time. I played the beta test and for maybe 1-2 months when the game came out but quit due to performance issues and my friends getting bored and moving on to other games.
apparently my main account was created october 2017. And i guess i had some time when enough equally bad players like me were around before every encounter felt like facing a sweaty vet and things were more chaotic and fun, rather than medkit and c4 spamming tactical shooter gameplay with slicing every angle during every peek ever - only to get tripple domed while i /think/ i dump half a mag into someone. Turns out my infantry accuracy is between 10 and 44,1% even when ADS-ing with a 0,87 k/d. Only managed one auraxium ever - gun, tarc-5 - not armor. Got banned for shooting enemy turrets too many times that were not yet manned after some 2k hours. Eh. Farming objective support ribbons on lost continets post nukes was fine tho :O) I found hives to be fun, cause i'd go out solo and destroy many. I also liked teamplay basebuilding for orbitals or goofing around solo as light assault. Squadplay was too unfun for me, but ammo / repair sundy or ant driving as nice unless you got forcefully disconnected for "padding" resupplies - in an active armor collum. Making some bloke get your sundy for free while ya relog. And i miss the friends i had from construction and from harasser gunning - very exciting with rumble repair or tossing mines under a chaser from the rear seat. Aerial anomalies were cool too even if i was a horrible pilot and i miss so much fun on old esamir including biolabs and many small or medium outposts.
I 'member MAX charge and vehicle thermals lighting up infantry... But Nostalgia era was definitely the release of Hossin. My first directive was VS SMGs being sneaky on Hossin.
Essentially camping Crossroads Watchtower, way back before the T2 Striker original lock-on was removed, when it did more damage and you could absolutely wreck anything flying by, finishing up with watching a streaming sunrise from the landing platforms.
I remember so many people doing that hahaha, crazy times. There used to be so many more overpowered weapons and mechanics in the game even a few years ago, many people forget. The first 5~ years of the game were a lot crazier.
Just the time from 2013 to 2017ish was the time I enjoyed the most and wish back. Had an Outfit with many friends and you could just hop on in the evening and all the fights were fun. How I wish I had the pc I have right now in ps2s prime!
I actually made my own version of the Glados voicepack lol. I miss old Planetside. EDIT: For me there are two era's I'm nostalgic about. Beta and the first couple of years when I would play with an outfit. Could barely run the game at 20FPS but it was FUN. and then around 2015/16 when I decided to "git gud". New PC. New 144Hz monitor. Reading/watching guides on how to improve.
Very cool! I wish I didn't use it so much and had it turned down way lower, it's super annoying to listen to in retrospect lmao. I was still taking a bit of a break during those years and my PC sucked. I was getting like 30-40 FPS. :(
I played from late beta till about 1.5-2 years in. Back when mostly everyone still sucked. I was able to hold my own with infantry. Joined an outfit that was doing all sorts of wacky stuff like dropping to mountaintops near TR/NC fights and blowing everything up in renderrange with lancer squads. Also learned to fly back then, becoming one of the best pilots of the server at the time after a long struggle. I had waaay too much free time to waste back then. Returned about a year ago because I missed the flight model. Slowly getting better at infantry too by forcing myself to engage in IvI.
Daaamn, I remember those days. People would stack up on the plateaus near the south eastern warpgate on Indar and bombard whoever came out hahaha. Good and bad times (if you were stuck in the warpgate). I hope you've been enjoying your time back!
@ThankYouForComing the first day of rotating warpgates was hell. Every faction camped their own gate the moment it switched. But yes, I'm enjoying myself. Auraxed the mossie and slowly working to get the carbine directive
Amazing idea for a video, brings back a lot of memories... Also damn, I just can't understand how you can make yourself play with the invis flash, I would feel so shitty
My main goal on my ThankYouForComing character overall was to do EVERY Auraxium in the game which means every vehicle, too. A lot of people were abusing the new VS Flash weapons at the time that were incredibly overpowered (Starfall) so I didn't mind.
miss this game for me its not the same, also wtf is this new water map i hate it!!!! i miss the big big battles that would last like 2 or 3 days on 1 map was so fun but know i just suck so bad at this game VS stuff sucks!
Man seeing those old Esamir bases made me miss the pre wrel storm Esamir so bad :/ that's definitely my nostalgia period too
That was the worst time, the first new version of Esamir sucked. :( The Shattered Warpgate area was fun though!
@@ThankYouForComing so true! I'll always fondly remember the space carrot mission and the glorious chaos that came with it!

I enjoyed pre-killcam lol, although it was a lot more frustrating. I don't miss the vehicle debris and made a video with some old "highlights."

I have some good and bad memories from the TI Alloys days but that time period was one of my favorites in retrospect.
2013 to 2016 for me. I played so much and I was horrible. I still am but I was then too.

Old Hossin was wild. It used to run so bad on my first computer and everyone would complain about the fog.

I remember playing with a VS outfit on Emerald called Solid State Gaming and having a lot of fun for like 2-3 weeks back in 2015. Good times.

I don't think that's true but I'm sorry you feel that way
these players seems pretty noob
of course, they're playing PlanetSide 2
can't be filth without a max clip :D
I wish I had more of those crazy Scattercannon clips from back in the day. Seriously, what were they thinking?
