    Your tip at 2:28 of closing one eye to prevent the dominant eye problem is worth the whole video, IMHO. Thanks for that and a good video. I have learned something from every video on the Sharpmaker that I have watched. Sal recommends using the Sharpmaker below waist level so you are looking down on it and I have found that helps to train me on how to keep the blade perpendicular to the table. Still learning and think reprofiling on a cheap bench stone is more practical to make sure the bevel is under 40 degrees quickly. Thumbs up.

    another question - was wondering if you ever used the WS Knife and Tool sharpener and if so what you thought of it? I have both now and started sharpening on that first, now I am practicing on the sharpmaker.

    can you explain why you use the edge vs the flat side? nice video

    • @cobra165j
      @cobra165j  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Josh,
      From my experience and what I saw on the video for Sal the invented of the Sharp maker. The flat side is a lower grit / rougher stone and the flat side is a higher grit / finer stone. In theory there are 2 stone types but when you use the corners it's like 4 grits

    • @user-px6qp4rm1x
      @user-px6qp4rm1x 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its recommended 4 step process. Meaning, you utilize both edge and flat side of a rod (2 types of rods+ 2 sharpening surface per rod= 4 step process).
      But on a serrated knives, its recommended to use only the 3rd step of the process (the edge side surface of a ceramic rod, and not its flat side).

      The answer is not a simple yes or no. I would say if the knife has a inclusive edge ( total edge angle ) of 38° or under yes the sharpmaker would work using the 40° side. If you have an edge over 40 no don't get it. If you live I. The is send me the knife I will sharpen it for you if you like for free.

      Hello Tad
      I picked up this Rolex submariner 16610 pre ceramic bezel style 10 years ago before kids a wife and a mortgage. At the time it was $4500 not $7000 like today. The clasp is different in current models I believe and I don't know about the AR coding.
      As for the knife it's a cheap one I just needed one to show how to use the sharp-maker. I do have more expensive knives on some other videos I have put up.
      Thanks for the compliment on the video I have been meaning to redo it as on this one I rushed though it. As a result the knife slips off the stones quite a few times this can round the tip.

    You were using too much pressure and looking rushed the entire video. You also hand held the strop and are constantly changing angles between it and the blade. I wont mention the tip round off its been beat to death. Not a great tutorial lol
