    …how do you export .fbx out of Houdini maintaining the fbx groups? I only get one object after exporting.... group are gone in Maya.

      Just leaving this here as a solution that helped me. Maybe it's useful to someone: I used a ROP FBX Output node to export my objects and in there is a checkbox called "Build Hierarchy from Path Attribute". I checked that and as "path attribute" used "name". That worked for me and exported my objects in the same hierarchy they were in when I imported them.
