Its my pleasure to show you the Berlin Blitz 1943 BBC VR experience available for free on steam, its a gripping experience that only VR could give along side the crew of the Lancaster bomber F For Freddie.
Berlin Blitz1943 is a recreation of a bombing run with full live narration of the recording made by the BBC on that very flight as it was happening.

That experience was so thought provoking. The nerves of steel needed to make that broadcast when the next sec could be there last .its an experience. What sight When they come up to Berlin with the huge red fireball engulfing it in flames ,war is terrible.

This was one of my first VR experiences back when I got my first set, and it is still one of my all-time favorites. It gave new context to things I've been reading about for decades. Reading about flak is educational. It's information. Watching it through the canopy, though, feeling like there was a piece of tinfoil between me and a hundred explosions... that gave me a new understanding of what it was that they, and so many others, went through.

This was overwhelmingly beautiful. There are very few left alive that can truly understand what war was like before the modern age. I believe that WW2 was one of the last truly old style wars. Something so very real about it in a sense that it undeniably happened if that makes sense. I feel like war today has been and I don't mean to offend it's good in many ways but less horrifying overall, not obviously for the men and women on the ground experiencing it first hand. But as a whole the thought of war doesn't have the weight of terror that I believe it had for people like my grandfather who served in WW2.
Either way I really liked this video! Not enough can be said about how brave or crazy maybe a bit of both the crew of the bombers had to be knowing they had a 50-50 chance of making it home every time they took off.

Right!? I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the BBCs ethics but this is a beautiful thing they have done.
I agree with you on what your saying aswell I think WW2 was the last analogue war if that makes sense? My respect to your grandfather, I bet he has experience beyond what most people nowadays will ever have.
So much destruction happens now from someone sat in a chair with of all things an XBOX controller I'm there hands (drones) of course as you say it dosnt take away from the brave men and women with boots on the ground in the last war or future engagements.
I'm glad it dosnt have the terror inducing effect as it used to but I do put this to you was it more terrifying then because war was breaking out on our home soil aswell? Well not so much yours but definitely mine.
It's like all I do is agree with you Lina :P but I agree words can't explain the brave of everyone there and those journalists must be crazy or brave or both for doing that but thanks to them we can have this first hand record of the events.
You should give it a go :)

Apparently this plane crashed during an airshow during its goodbye fly-by. It hit a flagpole at the airfield and the crash killed both the crew on board, but not the ones mentioned in this video. 😪

Actually the F for Freddie that crashed was another airplane, a mosquito airplane. But F for Freddie Lancaster also met a tragic end, it disappeared over the mediterranean after the end of the war: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avro_Lancaster_PA278_disappearance
