honestly, 17/23 156 passing yards, 57 rushing yards, that's exactly what you want from your starting qb. Obviously you need to see tds, but there would be teams right now that would kill to have a starting qb play so consistent and mistake free. Field goals get treated like losses, but if you get in range and put up 18 or 15 points in field goals per game, you need just one td and suddenly you're a top 15, top 10 scoring offense. He played mistake free and put his team in a position to score points.

When did they score 6 field goals last year? Every game last year they failed to have any rhythm. They were running the ball in 3rd and long over and over again. Totally different, Kenny Pickett had time in Canada’s scheme, Justin nor Russ has had time in Arthur Smiths. Play safe and slowly open things up, no need to try pushing the limits on teams like broncos and falcons when Pittsburgh has the defense they do. Everyone wants Justin to be Patrick mahomes week one, Pittsburghs loyalty and patients is what makes the organization such a beautiful thing. If you don’t like it be a broncos fan a get a new QB or Coach every year.

      @@beastmode218
Partially agree. Pete Carroll is a great coach, and the LOB was legendary. You can't make a Russ argument without recognizing their contributions to the early success.
But by 2014, the LOB was pretty much dismantled. Seahawks haven't had a 'good' defense since then. And Russ was the primary reason why the Hawks had continued success. Winning seasons, playoff runs, similar to how the Cowboys have been recently. Good, not great enough to take it all the way.
My point was just that Russ has a historic track record of success.
Of 10 years in Seattle, he had 7 good seasons. 2 borderline MVP level seasons. And one mediocre season. And in Denver, one bad season, and one okay season.
Pairing Russ with the old formula... a HOF coach, a tough defense, an offense that's all about smash mouth runs, clever play action, and taking surprise shots down the field... that's his bread and butter. It's a fantastic fit for coach, scheme, and player. And Tomlin knows that when push comes to shove, Russ can deliver clutch 4th quarter comebacks, he can put the team on his back, he's proven it over and over.
Tomlin isn't much of a risk taker. Russ isn't a risky QB. He's gonna ride reliable success.
And I think Russ is going to be the Steelers QB for another 4-5 years. It's a GREAT FIT. He'll earn their respect by midseason.

First thing we need to do is get away from the mentality “our offense can’t lose us a game” and get back to “our offense needs to win us a game”. Be f****n hungry for a win. We know our defense will step up every time we need them too, and sure they can win us games. BUT THATS NOT WHAT A DEFENSE IS FOR. That’s what an offense is for. Brady, Big Ben, they weren’t going out there to “not lose a game” they were going to win. Yeah you might throw picks or might make mistakes but learn and move on from them. Stop this scared mentality bs.

I hope not it's not that I don't like Russ but I hope Justin continues and becomes the guy plays mentor gets a little bit of playing time here and there but Fields I think it's his job to lose right now as well as should and hopefully Jallen starts getting more touches and if Troy and Roman start playing like the players I think they are you can already see Zach and Peyton were great picks hopefully Troy and Jones workout and with Roman in the line up thats 3 good running backs 3 or 4 good tight ends one of them a top 10 guy a great young wide out and a good cast of recievers we still need a clear number two if Roman is that guy than our offense could be really good at the end of the year and if this defense has even an above average offense they could be real contenders
