Great tips. #8 is, at least in my opinion, is the most important tip. Comfort goes a long way to ensuring a positive experience and getting a good night's rest is essential. Of course, I like a fat doobie after a long day on the trail. Always helps me sleep great! 😁
All great tips Dave! Recouping is key. Especially on a multi day trip. Being able to sit with your back supported is amazing. I don’t take a chair when I have a hammock because I can sit in it like a chair. But so with a tent on most trips. I never used to take camp clothes in warmer months but I changed that up a year or so ago. Weight was worth it. I also started to bring camp shoes again this year.
@@backpackingadventures4813 I'm jealous of your shoes and am seriously considering getting a pair 👍 for the weight they're full featured 🙌 Chair is a must for me! But I can see how the hammock can double, great feature. Regulating body temp is huge!
All good tips. Use that hand sanitizer after you collect and filter water. First hand experience that Giardia can be transmitted from unclean hands too. lol.
After the Whitney hike I ended up crashing out in the driver's seat of my car lol. My feet ended up swollen with my legs hanging down. Slept great though. Since I've gone through a flashlight/headlamp/lantern rabbit hole, I recommend a nice warm camp light. Adds some coziness. I picked up a Ledlenser ML4 Warm for backpacking. Really small but bright and uses a 14500 lithium battery. Also picked up a Sofirn BLF LT1 for car camping. Love it. Built like a tank and lasted all week.
Nice one Rod! I have the Fire Maple Orange Lantern and will consider bringing that one for more ambience at camp. Esp places like JTree or other fire ban areas 🤙
I don't think a thermacell is a good idea for any nature lovers. It is harmful for the bugs (that's why it works). And we need the good bugs that are out there. It's better to use headnets and cover up with clothes.

Gummies definitely help with sleep and I guess they would be considered "ultralight".
Nahhh.. gummies have too much water weight! 😢
Great tips Dave.
Thanks John! 😁
