I think you are being needlessly uncharitable to local BJP, particularly in the context of Venkataraghavan Venkataraman's question.
As I have pointed out, DMK handles protest first by ignoring them, then by arresting protestors. Someone utterly bereft of a conscience can't be guilt-tripped.
Unless the central government takes a long hard look at the mindset that is being sowed in the State's citizenry through their education, and/or rectifies HRCE's provisions and their abuse, there is only so much effect local BJP can have through their outreach. This mindset is NOT receptive to facts and logic. BUT if they bring about court prosecution of scams (AGAIN, a Central government job), it will help. It helped in 2014 and 2016.
I only see Jayalalitha ji's technique of raining down defamation suits as some amount of relief.
As Anand Ranganathan points out, productive citizens -- he uses the example of farmers who would have wanted the farmers' bills passed (and I'm referring to the bulk of TN BJP supporters) -- do not have luxurious amounts of money and time to waste on law suits and jail time.
