TSURINOYA Dark Wolf Ultra 12+1 ball bearing upgrade!!!

- Hello everyone, in this video I will show you how to upgrade the worm gear shaft bushings on your Tsurinoya Dark Wolf Ultra to bearings. While this mod does not improve casting distance it did make the reel feel smoother and have less resistance when spinning the handle. This mod will increase the bearing count to 12+1 which is usually found on very high end reels. The sizes and links for the bearings I used are linked below.

Hey is that normal that so many Gear wheels are plastic? Is that on a expensive reel like a steez same?
Hey Lee! To be honest with you, I am not sure if the Steez has polymer gears but many reels do including the Shimano Aldebaran bfs. I don’t believe these gears really experience much stress and being lightweight is advantageous. So, I don’t think there is much need to be worried about the materials being made out of polymer as opposed to metal. Cheers my friend!
For the levelwind drive gears it's very common. All they have to do is make the worm gear turn.

Hello. How's the spool bearings size?
Hello, they are 3x8x4. I have another video with a list of mods I have done to this reel. I have a link to aliexpress for the micro ceramic bearings I bought there. A friend of mine did say there is a cheaper seller though for around $10 per bearing.
What knob and reel handle are those?
Hey there! That handle and knobs are from a Daiwa Tatula haha. I figured I’d try swapping it out and it felt pretty good but I’ve since swapped the stock handle back and it suits the reel better imho. Cheers!
Which part of the bearing side part do u add in?
Hi there! You can add a bearing to both the worm gear side of the worm shaft and also the sideplate side of the worm shaft.

@@izwan6783 hey there! Adding bearings to the worm shaft doesn’t increase casting distance as these reels all have disengaging line guides. However, I will say the “smoothness” of the reel increased considerably after performing the upgrade. If you don’t mind tinkering with your reel, purchasing a couple of bearings and have the time I think it’s a fun project to do. Just be sure to keep track of all of your parts as your tear your reel down. Cheers!
