    Hello I want to put a floating shoe storage in my garage. I have the same tool. Metal was detected where I want to put the shoe storage but it’s between my four nail holes. Should I still drill there? The storage is 20 inches and where I’m drilling is at the 1 inch and 20 inch mark. The metal was detected at the 10 inch mark...

      Do you think there might be a pipe in that location? You could carefully use a small screwdriver to test first, but a drill could puncture a copy pipe.

    I am having issues with this stud finder - more specifically with the AC detector mode; I have calibrated it to the instructions and your instructions. When moving most surfaces it is detecting electricity and just constantly beeps - even if I recalibrate it makes no difference. Even tested on a wooden hollow door and it does it all over. This doesn't right.... There are tiny pockets of spaces where it doesn't beep on wall but 95% of the wall beeps.

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Electrical locator can be a little Flaky - that was the situation with the old one I had (that was lost). I think it is best just to take it as a warning that there are electrical wires somewhere in the vicinity. Make sure you always use hammers and/or screw drivers with wood or plastic handles when doing work in a vicinity like that.

    • @YourOpinionMatta
      @YourOpinionMatta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear someone say to pay particular attention to the display rather than the beep(when the beeps are frantic)

    Were you ever able to find the center of a stud using the device?

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I was. It depends a lot on how many studs are groups together based on how I have used it. When two are separated by a 1 to 2" gaps, it can get confused.

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, it does a LOT of things, but I'm afraid it won't find the others. They are either buried somewhere deep in the layers of clutter I've moved around the house the last few months (which I will soon be adding to as you will see in my next video), or they have been lent out to others (with me either forgetting or not consulted with). Thanks for watching this video, it is one I don't expect a lot of interest int, however others I have thought that about have become the most videos I've created. So you never know :)

    • @PE4Doers
      @PE4Doers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am surprised you had trouble with it. I have had good results from it numerous times. One thing I had to get use to is not holding down the button the way other stud finders require that I do - that would continually reset the depth-sound measurement.
