I am troubled that neither of these men are politicians. The world needs brilliant leaders not so much brilliant financiers and writers. (I am very impressed with the ideas in this podcast.)
The "Swedish model" only works because Scandinavia has unspoken social contract. They agree not to commit crimes, to protect others etc. That's why all these politicians saying "we should follow Scandinavian model of socialism" don't get it that it's not even socialism in these countries. They are capitalist, however, they agree to respect the way of Scandinavian life because it keeps everything at peace... To be fair, that will no longer be the case with the amount of migrants they have taken in from the Middle East but it had a good run.
Thank you Naval and Matt. An interesting aspect to consider is that although almost everyone in for example the west has access to material wealth beyond that of ancient kings, there is a large degree of mental illnessess in materially wealthy societies. Improving our GDP is great but maybe we need to focus on improving our mental health and spirituality, too. A good dose of meditation and yoga could help us out. This would be interesting to hear you elaborate more on. Also, maybe you have read it Naval but Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged is a very interesting book showing how the wealth of everyone is ruined when the state and it’s bureaucrats inhibit people’s freedom to innovate and do business. Always a pleasure to take part of your content. Stay Based
I think it's important to give respect to the conversation, not for specifics, but the intent. I may disagree with Mr. Ridley about population control, but the spirit of the conversation is that we have a bright future if we can continue innovate. Bees do cooperate across genetic boundaries, btw. Drone bees congregate and will mate with other queens not from their hive, the way I understand it.
Unsure if you read this but would like to let you know that I have used quotes from you in a book I wrote called "Small collection of big quotes". It contains quotes from 21 different people. For example, quotes by Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus, Lao Tzu, Rumi, and also some more recent people such as Mark Twain and Jim Rohn. I have also dedicated a whole chapter to you with some of your quotes. Wanted to let you know, and if you don't want to be part of it, let me know and I will remove the chapter on you. Thank you! Best regards, Emil Forssell
Hey naval when are you planning for a Q&A. I really needed some guidance on my career. Have done my BTech in computer science and MBA in IT/Ops and marketing from top schools in India. Losing out on a great job offer due to covid. What next?
@@owaisfarooqui6485 I have heard him speak briefly about it. But I do not hold him to what he has said in the past. I feel that between the past and now a lot has changed. I do thank you for your shearing of insight.
Naval - I respect so much of what you say, your belief in the Covid-19 narrative though makes me feel depressed. Do you actually believe this blatantly obvious theatre that's been playing in front of us for the past 19 months?
I'm so thankful that I was able to find and hear Naval's podcasts, I hope more people find this content its truly enlightening.
Fantastic work Naval thank you for creating this unmatched content

Naval’s content is really underrated in the world, but super enlightening for those who find it. Will he be completing his podcast on peace?

I was waiting for this. Picked up Matt’s book and I’m looking forward to reading it.

Naval, what a treasure of a man you are!

Well said.
Scandinavia got wealthy through capitalism and is now destroying the wealth.
Absolutely. Culture matters
Thank you Naval and Matt.

Love the perspective that innovation/tech creates jobs/wealth and make our lives better, rather than the notion that tech/AI will take jobs away.
I'm going to read Matt's books now.

Thanks Naval 🤘
This had 666 likes and I felt like I had to step in. 😤
Everything Naval says is like truthbomb after truthbomb. Really enlightened/actualized. Seems very similar to Steve Jobs.
Wow, amazing.

Nothing will stop Google Apple and Facebook from owning Crypto then...
Thank you
As of today sweden is hardly a success in handling COVID. It's endearing to hear Naval & Matt Ridley get something wrong on ocassion.
HELLO
What do you think about this Twitter thread on the Sweden data? twitter.com/RaoulGMI/status/1277045896082083840?s=19
How’s innovation work in the face of a centrally planned financial and cultural reset?
Great convo on innovation, really enjoyed.
Terrible take on covid from today’s perspective. Sweden is worse hit than any of its neighbours.
What a smart thief, and why so many bots here?
Naval you are the shit.
