As the story goes, a reporter asked Eddie Van Halen what it's like to be the greatest guitar player in the world. Eddie replied, "I have no idea. You'll have to ask Roy Clark.". I hope they story is true.
I'm 61 years old this year and I remember hearing about that back in the day. It's true. That's both a testament to Roy Clark and also to Eddie's honesty.
@@charlesalexander2492 Actually, Jimmy said Rory Gallagher, although there are also some folks that say it was Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top. There is also a time when he did say Roy Clark. Of course, when you take in account that Jimmy Hendrix didn’t really care about trying to compete he was more interested in the love of the music and playing the instruments so he actually may have said all of them at some point in time. on one TV show he was reporter to his said when ask how he felt about being the greatest guitar player, he said well, the greatest in the seat anyways. Trying to downplay himself. But all the greats always name somebody else even Jimmy.
My step-father died in 1997. He loved Roy Clark. He told me "you'll never play the guitar like Roy Clark"! 50 years later he proved to be correct. Rip Roy.
Love Roy Clark and like him I have fond memories of my grandfather and his friends getting together on the front porch every Saturday night and playing bluegrass music I miss those times.
My grandfather introduced me to country music at a really young age. I'm grateful he did. He passed away when I was 11 years old. I will never stop listening to real country music.
I remember the song being "in rotation" when I was a Kid... but for assorted reasons I hit a stretch where I hadn't heard it for like 5-10 years... then one day I caught it on a "classics" station... that fake-out intro Got me... I recognized everything about it as Roy... but having not heard it in so long I'd forgotten that it Opened so serious and then pivoted,,,
I told Roy Clark I know a man that can tear you up on that guitar at golf tournament in Tulsa he said weres he at I wanna meet him I told Roy you can't he just died a week ago. My unncle delbert melted guitar picks he was so fast 😢😢😢😢😢
After going back and forth in a toxic relationship this song really resonates for me when I say the very best thing my EX did for me was to walk out of my life for the last time.
Roy,was a down to earth man parked beside his bus at the KW shop in Tulsa Oklahoma did know who's bus it was till I took my key in the shop and the shop Forman asked where I parked my truck say beside that big bus

He would have been correct. Roy Clark will never be matched. Absolutely the greatest of all time. ❤

Grew up listening to Roy on my Dad's 8 track player. My "The Lightning Fingers Of Roy Clark" vinyl is one of my most treasured possessions.
My grandpa used to say this all the time and I'm today years old when I found out it was a song ..... 30 years later
Roy, you are missed. Yet you live on.
The story of my life! The only regret is that she came back after 17 blissfully quiet years.

So you went straight from never watching TV straight to your cellphone wanting to watch free entertainment.
How old are you?
