On the English and language barrier. Bomfunk MC's was a Finnish group, but the rapper B.O. Dubb, a.k.a. Raymond Ebanks, although Finnish, was born in London, and his father had a Jamaican and English background. His mother is from Finland.
There's a lot of drum-n-bass influence in this track, but also with breakdance in mind. It was produced by JS16, a Finnish guy known mainly for electronic dance music. You can find solo tracks by him and compare. He was also part of the dj/producer duo Dallas Superstars.

A classic theme of parallel time / universe and controlling it, the band members representing guys who can travel between them. The boys gets this controller, plays with it and finally is taken back to the moment where it all begun, instigated by the band member time traveller who gave the controller in the beginning.

This would've been recommended not really as a track to hold up to todays standards in term of rap music or breakbeat production. But rather to show the lead arpeggiated melody with those awesome old-skool garage/dnb-like breaks, stabs and fills typically heard in the UK scene. The coming together of the elements in this track epitomises the scene despite being produced by Finnish guys. I always got chills from listening to as it struck me as one of a kind and rarely played after the year 2000, and well I guess that most people like me get shivers when we listen to it and wonder if this is purely just the nostalgia. I don't think those listening to it the first time in 2021 will feel the same way towards it somehow.

I miss boomboxes; we were so obnoxious.
As for the clip, the child is the dj as a kid, and the other guy is the other guy from the band. they time travel to give him a little device, you'll notice them watching him throughout as adults. then they take it all back. they put him on the path. through his "dream".

love the video but you should have done the Cobus drum cover version. Nothing like that guy freestyling live drums to this.....

@@klr3218 No, you just don't like it. That doesn't make it bad. Millions of people adore this song and see it as a masterpiece of D&B Hip Hop fusion. The bars are cold, the samples are incredible and the drums are pretty good. The video is also one of the best of it's era.
