I’ve just noticed and wrote that too! I’ve never noticed it before now. It’s probably because I’m watching this scene on my phone instead of a large television!?!?! But it did make me chuckle when I did notice it. It’s just an instant reaction anyone would do if they lose something and someone else finds it and ask’s “who lost” whatever they lost in the first place. It would be more funny it wasn’t in the script because it’s such a small detail that could easily be over looked and Matt/the 11th Doctor just automatically put his hand up to say “yes me” and they left it in!
John Hurt, who has never played the Doctor before, is absolutely perfect here. He acts so much like the earlier versions of the Doctor. He cracks a few jokes but is still serious, perfect classic Dr energy

I just love John Hurt's acting in this. The BBC has a history of mistreating Northern actors, especially if they wont drop their accent like Tennent did. Eccleston refused to cover his accent so they dropped him. What I loved most about this episode was how the three doctors acted as if War Doctor is the Dad, and Ten and Eleven are the kids, while Eleven is the cute baby, of course. The only thing that could have make this even greater would have been Nine as the oldest brother :D
Actually, the War Doctor originally wasn’t going to happen. Steven Moffat went to Christopher Eccleston and asked him to come back, but Eccleston decided to decline even though he considered it. The War Doctor was created to circumvent that. He basically took Nine’s role in the story.
My theory for “timey-whimy” is that the Gallifreyan concept of time does not translate to English and “timey-whimy” is as close as the Doctor can get to explaining it.
Idk why, but I love it when the War Doctor says “why are you pointing your screwdrivers like that? They’re scientific instruments, not water pistols.” 😂
I love their different reactions to seeing the War Doctor, with Ten being horrified and Eleven being shocked. The passage of time's effect on their demeanors is remarkable.
That continues throughout the episode. 10 is furious when 11 says he has no idea how many children were on Galleyfray that day. Of course he was lying, he did count but that was enough to set 10 off
A nice little romp of whimsical weirdness instead of fire blood and death for once. He has his dour moments when he's reminded of the circumstances of the why in his meeting these two, but he's clearly enjoying himself... if also somewhat put-off by some of the quirks of his older selves. But that's kind of a constant among any meeting between Doctors.
In all seriousness, that actually can be true sometimes. When three Doctors were figuring out how to disable the force field on Rassilon's Tomb in the Death Zone on Gallifrey, the 2nd Doctor was confused by the phrase, "To lose is to win, and he who wins shall lose." and at the end of the events of "The Five Doctors", the *1st* Doctor is the one who realizes what that phrase meant. Not the 5th Doctor, not the 4th Doctor, not the 2nd Doctor and not even the 3rd Doctor! The 1st Doctor! Now *that* is amazing! And an example of the earliest version of The Doctor being the cleverest one.
the later or earlier a regeneration is doesn't make a difference in intelligence or being wise. sure the docotor has more experience as he lives but the personality of the individual doctor changes. being young like 10 and 11 also comes with a sort if naivety in a way.

I like to think that was on 11th's mind when he was regenerating. He saw him and 10 admire the War Doctor's more grown-up demeanor. So 11 thought he'd give being old a shot again. And like 11, he overcompensated as usual. :D
Within 10 seconds the war doctor somehow manages to figure out its afternoon after jumping through a time fissure into a forest with no obvious shadows and without looking up at the sky. I guess timelords can feel time.
Time is actually revealed to be one of the Timelord’s senses in the audios (much akin to touch, taste and smells). It made it all the more traumatic when the eighth doctor once ended up in a universe where the concept of time did not exist.
You know How you can tell the war doctor is still the doctor. He surrounded by soldiers threatening to kill him and all he can focus on is how young and juvenile he’s going to be in the future

Apart from the upmost hilarity of this scene the thing I love the most here is that sibtle nod and eyebrow rise from Tenth Doctor when War Doctor's asks "Even that one?" while pointing at the Eleventh Doctor. Like he is saying "Yeah. I'm shocked too!"

Seeing The Doctor(s) pointing their sonics like that at the medieval soldiers... this really begs one to theorize that this probably is the origin of why the fables and stories of depicting Wizards owning magic wands. The Wizards and wands are modeled after The Doctor and his Sonic Screwdriver + the pointing before making "magic" things to happen. But that's just a theory.

I think the War Doctor is just happy to be away from all the fire and death of the war and to be standing in a lovely forest.

Within 10 seconds the war doctor somehow manages to figure out its afternoon after jumping through a time fissure into a forest with no obvious shadows and without looking up at the sky. I guess timelords can feel time.
they can smell it actually. there are couple episodes where the doctor puts the tardis on random and comes out, takes a sniff and say what year it is
Time is actually revealed to be one of the Timelord’s senses in the audios (much akin to touch, taste and smells). It made it all the more traumatic when the eighth doctor once ended up in a universe where the concept of time did not exist.

You know How you can tell the war doctor is still the doctor. He surrounded by soldiers threatening to kill him and all he can focus on is how young and juvenile he’s going to be in the future

I was going to say it would have to happen between The Shakespeare Code and Blink, which would be hard with Martha being supposedly a more constant companion, but he could have forgotten.

No this is definitely towards the end after Donna and he was travelling alonr again coz this adventure with him and Queen Elizabeth happened during season 4 just before the last few episodes coz he mentioned it during his visit to the Ood planet where they informed him about Wilfred.

I loved John Hurt. It's so sad that he died, I would have loved to see more of his war doctor.
Apart from the upmost hilarity of this scene the thing I love the most here is that sibtle nod and eyebrow rise from Tenth Doctor when War Doctor's asks "Even that one?" while pointing at the Eleventh Doctor. Like he is saying "Yeah. I'm shocked too!"
This is always the best part of any Multiple Doctor specials, the way they play off each other is always hilarious

@Aya Jadayel: John Hurts version is called The War Doctor, but one of the incarnations [ I think Capaldi's not sure] said that he didn't call himself the Doctor in that incarnation so he is just known as The War Doctor and comes after McGann's film version [ Pity Paul didn't get a series] and before Eccleston I think [ number would probably be 8.5 Doctor ].

Seeing The Doctor(s) pointing their sonics like that at the medieval soldiers... this really begs one to theorize that this probably is the origin of why the fables and stories of depicting Wizards owning magic wands. The Wizards and wands are modeled after The Doctor and his Sonic Screwdriver + the pointing before making "magic" things to happen.
But that's just a theory.
It says a lot the way 10 and 11 point their sonics at the war doctor, like they know all the stuff he’s done and they don’t trust him.
