What I like about both channels is that they're both musicians, so they actually teach me stuff about stuff I've listened to for decades. I agree that it would cool if they reached out, but maybe after they've both finished the discography.
I love the track, Mr. Moonlight! Never understood the hate for it. You're right - it's a bit more dramatic than usual for the Beatles because it's a cover. But John's singing...oh, man!! I love hearing him sing the hell out of any song. So much heart in his vocals.
@@CrystalMarieShannon I think that the Gothic Organ by played by Paul is what make this song great. Personnel According to Ian MacDonald,[11] except where noted: John Lennon - vocal, rhythm guitar Paul McCartney - harmony vocals, bass, Hammond organ George Harrison - harmony vocals, lead guitar, African drum Ringo Starr - conga
Mr. Moonlight is more of a crooning song of the time. It does sound like a Spanish drama. But IF you ever listen to Mexican crooner music from Fernando Fernandez or ranchra music Vicente Fernández the singing is a proclamation of feelings to the audience, mystical forces, god or anyone willing to listen.
I must have avoided the hate all these years, because I always thought "Mr. Moonlight" was one of their best covers with Lennon's amazing vocals. It always puts me back in time to when the Beatles were performing live in clubs. And they would choose B sides to cover, so they could put their stamp on them. It's them doing a tribute to Dr. Feelgood. Why would any Beatle fan be mad at that?
I'll Follow The Sun is one of my favorite Beatles tunes and way too underappreciated. I think McCartney's lyrics are just amazing in the way he conveys a sense of not belonging, leaving a a loved one behind and moving on. It's a song that will never leave me.
I completely agree with you!! I am absolutely in love with this song. It is so personal to me and I have the deepest connection to it - I explained my relationship to this song in the vid I talk about my journey with the Beatles! The first time I heard this song was back at the middle/later end of August. I was dropping my parents off at the airport and that was one of the last few times I ever got to see my dad before he passed and one of the last songs we listened to together.
@@CrystalMarieShannon Aww that makes it ever so meaningful. 😢 It is amazing the power of music. I think there is a small group of Beatles fans that enjoy this song, but those of us who do know how special it is. I wish you some happiness this Holiday season.
a freaking men!!!!! Paul wrote it as a young teen! It's a DIAMOND. it's just pure. The melody AND the lyrics are pure, as only a very young person could do. absolute genius.
@@loosilu Very mature for someone so young might I add. A great message about not burning your bridges and leaving a loved one behind because they are better off without you.
one fantastic, usually overlooked part of No Reply is the different chord used the 2nd time in the "I nearly died" sections. The first pair is A minor to E minor. The second pair is F major 7th to E minor and that one note difference gives it "Beatle texture".
"Baby's In Black" was a favorite of the Beatles themselves in live performance, as they kept it in their stage show between late 1964 and the end of their touring career in 1966. Few of their original songs remained on their live set list for that long.
The waltz idea was inspired by a song called “If You Got To Make A Fool Of Somebody” by James Ray. John and Paul thought it would be cool to do a song in 3/4 time which was rare at that time. They were always looking to do stuff that was different.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ Baby's In Black is my least favorite L&M composition from this album, unfortunately its about the only song from it that they used to perform in concert.
My neighbors had the Capitol equivalent of this album and I would go over and listen to it and be mesmerized by it, and go home heartsick that I had to leave it behind. Beatlemania was such an intense obsession for me as a child that it's impossible to adequately describe it. "The Beatles' Second Album" (another Capitol release) affected me the same way, as did, of course, all the various 45 rpm singles that were so precious to me when I was able to acquire them.
You know Charlie, I feel that whenever a song resolves on those chords I can’t help but feel that the artist is subconsciously being guided and inspired by The Beatles or perhaps it took the courage and curiosity of The Beatles to pave the way for others to venture out and feel confident enough to use a resolution that wouldn’t have been an obvious choice!
@@CrystalMarieShannon Absolutely ❤️ No doubt it was part of their musical genes from the music hall and show-tune styles of their youth. A really great modern example is a song called “The Lie in Me” by Jason Falkner; it just oozes Beatles influence in the chords and melodies. ❤️✌️
@@CrystalMarieShannon If this is the C major 6 chord at the end of No Reply being discussed then you should know I sat down with my guitar one day in my teens determined for 10 solid minutes just playing and rewinding that one chord on loop. I thought it was a major 6 too but it just didn't quite match up to what I was hearing. Suddenly I realised they had chucked an added 9 in there too. Now a C major 6 add 9 is a pretty jazzy chord and I knew then that The Beatles must have had really open ears and were able to absorb all kinds of influences and then recycle these ideas through their music in a way that made it all their own. Sorry to go all theory on you but it was a total revelation to my little 14 year old self.
Your newly discovered favorite of "What You're Doing" was SUCH a joy to watch! Who knew there'd be a song you didn't know from this album? But, yeah, Paul's vocals on that track are just jaw-droppingly good. Your Beatle reaction videos always make my week! Thank you, Crystal!
Thank you so much! I was so shocked when I heard that song come on and didn’t recognize it- definitely made me feel like I failed during my For Sale week!
"I Don't Want to Spoil The Party" is the song they played on the radio when John's death was announced. It always brings me back to that moment in time, even though it was 41 years ago. My son was born 3 years later, on December 8th. His middle name is Lennon. I always look forward to your reactions. I could watch them eight days a week.
I was 12, living in the Boston area,. From what I remember, I mostly heard Imagine on the radio. John's death affected my BFF at the time, and she showed me beatles records. I became a fan for life. Her favorite was Ringo then George, she hated Paul., oh the wonderful memories!
The dctor in the ER who called John's death said the mment after he vhe called it, the song All My Loving played on the sound system. Think about the first line. Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, tomorrow I'll miss you.
I love the whole album…this one always gives me that feel good Beatles vibe that I love so much. I love your reactions because it reminds me of when I first heard these. I can relate…I was born long after they had broken up so those of us look at it from a sort of outside point of view….therefore they mean something a bit different to us than those who lived it. My favorites are Every Little Thing, I’m A Loser, and I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party………Mr Moonlight??…I love it because John sings it so well. This album has a lot of good songs to play an acoustic guitar with, then again you can pretty much do that with every Beatles song
John and Paul LOVED playing Baby's in Black live. They shared a mic. When they were sharing a mic, it was magic. Because Paul is left handed, they looked like mirror images. Usually when guitar players are sharing a mic, it's awk. John and Paul got so close to each other you couldn't fit a credit card between them. From the audience they looked like one person. They were sharing looks, inside jokes. It was so wonderful to watch
Paul wrote I'll follow the sun when he was 15. Johns vocals on Mr. Moonlight are outstanding; so I like the song for that. Words of love is a Buddy Holly song. Buddy Holly was one of their great idols. Every little thing has been covered by the progressive rock band YES on their second album in 1969. After all, thank you again for your great great reaction! You have such a clear and true perception of the songs - I needed years for that. So congratulations!
Thank you for imparting your wisdom Peter! It makes me definitely feel like a total loser to hear Paul wrote I’ll Follow the Sun only at age 15. I am not sure I could write a song like that even when I turn 25! And I absolutely agree with you about the vocal on Mr. Moonlight. John is quite the talent, isn’t he?
@@CrystalMarieShannon You will find that we as Beatles fans are constantly learning something new, even those who have been listening to this music for decades. You’re most definitely NOT a loser. You get it. You don’t just hear music. You listen to it and every single note resonates within you. That’s what being a true fan is about.
@@CrystalMarieShannon But Paul's early version of "I'll Follow The Sun" did not have the beautifully heart-breaking "And now the time has come & so my love I must Go" part yet. He and John knocked that together especially for The Beatles For Sale album & only when that missing piece was in place did it sound like the classic we now know. There's an old demo of the early version floating around somewhere (was it Anthology?) and it is rough, ready, full of potential but certainly was not the gorgeous song we all know (Yet)
I have a bootleg of them singing I'll Follow the Sun in Hamburg. They hadn't worked out the opening phrase and sort of mumbled a bit instead, and the middle section was differently harmonised, but it was the same song.
This album's liner notes, written by Derek Taylor, contain a couple of sentences which are both prescient and bizarre. If I remember it correctly: "If a cigar smoking child picnicking on Saturn in the year 2000 asks what the Beatles were all about, just play them this record." Extraordinarily evocative and, planetary picnics aside, surprisingly accurate. This album was the first one to really prick my ears up, and is still a nostalgic favourite. Beatles for Sale is, in my opinion, the beginning of phase two of the Beatles' career.
still moring for your loss a mounth ago. but i do love your uploads as your putting so mutch soul in these albums. BTW MY fav song must be I feel fine.
Hi Crystal, just recently discovered your channel and really enjoy the videos I've seen and plan on seeing the rest now. Love the way you use your knowledge to break down the music in terms we non musicians can understand. So sorry for your recent loss
Hey Crystal, thank you for putting so much thought into your reactions, it really brings the Beatles back to life on a new level, have a great weekend!!
It is always a pleasure to be invited back onto your channel for another Beatles LP reaction, Crystal! You do such a great job of appreciating, understanding, breaking down and explaining the music that I feel much more intelligent every time I listen to you!! Great insights, as always! I think "Help" might be next, and I am already anticipating your reaction and comments!! Cheers,
This is the last of the John-dominated albums. Beatles For Sale sometimes gets a bad rap, but I think it's fantastic. The "Middle Beatles" era is about to begin. IMO, Help-Rubber Soul-Revolver is the peak. Great balance of John songs and Paul Songs. Plus George joins the fun.
Agreed. If I were to break the Beatles down by era, I'd say: Please Please Me to Beatles For Sale is their dance hall era. Help to Revolver is their expansion era, Sgt. Pepper's, Magical Mystery Tour, and Yellow Submarine is their psychedelic era, The White Album and Let it Be is their "unplugged" era, and Abbey Road is their encore.
I've always thought of For Sale as the beginning of the middle period, and that Revolver with its psychedelia has a markedly different sound from its predecessors. But there are many different ways of slicing the cake.
@@davidjordan2336 What's a real shame is that "I Want to Hold Your Hand / This Boy" and "I Feel Fine / She's A Woman" were not included on their respective albums. It takes away from their legacy. "We Can Work it Out / Day Tripper" and "Paperback Writer / Rain" aren't as egregious because those albums were packed with originals.
I just finished listening to this album, opened TH-cam and your review is here. Cool! What You’re Doing and No Reply have been my long time favourites on this album. I don’t mind Mr. Moonlight. I think it’s a really strong vocal by John. Rock and Roll Music too. John is great on that one. Thanks for doing these videos Crystal.
If I hadn't already fallen in love with John's vocals on the first three albums then Mr Monnlight would have been the song that on its own would have put me in the John camp. It is John at his very very best vocally for me anyway.
I remember being 15 and going to this party just to see this girl, but she wasn't there. I was down, went home and then by chance I took my parents Beatle For Sale Album and played it, when I heard "I don't Wanna Spoil the Party" and then along with how I felt about the girl "Every Little Thing" and my mood "I'll Follow the Sun", it was one of those truly sublime moments where I thought they were speaking directly to me, especially the timing and it being my "first listen". Needless to say, for at least a month, I would listen to the record over and over. I had the same experience with the Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album...though there was no crazy coincidence, I was just blown away by sounds I never heard before and became daily addicted to the album for at least a month.
I discovered your music reactions about 9 last night. I enjoyed them so much that I continued watching until 2am! So far, I heard the Beatles, Paul and George, and Pet Sounds. Great job😊
Thanks for another splendid video!! This seemed like an important transitional album for the group. They were very tired at this point, thus the flurry of their favorite covers by their favorite artists (for the last time on record). Meanwhile, John began to display his darker, more introspective side (which would soon flourish) while Paul remained sentimental and melodic. (I believe Paul wrote "I'll Follow the Sun" back when he was a pre-Beatles teen.) John was decidedly unhappy at this point in the group's career, and it began to show. His upcoming "Help!" track would make it even more blatant. Love your insight and presentation Crystal, as usual. And your red or maroon visual motif is absolutely fab.
The guitar sound is also very innovative as it was the Beatles' first attempt at using the volume/tone control to alter the sound of the guitar, giving it that sobbing, gasping effect that would be fully realized a few years later (by Eric Clapton) on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
They LOVED performing this song live! it's in 3/4 time (they called it waltz time), it's one of the very precious times Lennon/McCartney shared a microphone. Because Paul is left handed, they were able to share a microphone easily. They were so close you couldn't fit a credit car between them. From the seats they looked like one person. John and Paulsinging together is one of the most beautiful sounds ever.
My favorite song on this is “I’m A Loser”. Specifically, I like that the song is more autobiographical and introspective as many of the songs in this album are. It’s John letting his guard down and revealing that behind the facade the public sees is an unhappy, insecure man. This theme would get reinforced again in the song “Help!” This album also is when The Beatles were introduced to marijuana and, regardless of anyone’s opinions on drugs, it did have an effect on the way The Beatles wrote and played.
Crystal, Thank you for taking the time to take us all with you on this Beatle Journey. Wishing you all the best for Christmas and the New Year. Cheers, Chris Perry.
Just remembered that I received Beatles ‘65, which was the U.S. release of this album (with some song differences from the UK release) as a Christmas present in 1965 when I was 6 years old. Also got a record player.
@@steelers6titles I like it. It’s a very fun song on a mostly serious album and the four guys dug it. John especially enjoyed it and they wanted it to be a bit silly.
If you listen to the original Buddy Holly version of Words Of Love, you’ll then appreciate the homage the Beatles pay to him and how much they sound like him.
With an LP to get out for Christmas 1964, the group recorded several numbers from their live act in Hamburg: "Rock and Roll Music", "Words of Love", and the two Carl Perkins hits, "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" and "Honey Don't".
The covers are from their heroes, chuck, buddy, Carl, etc. The biggest of their heroes buddy, Everly bros, little Richard, and Roy. Tho they never covered the Everly bros or Roy, most likely out of respect. John and Paul were playing the parts with love
@@CrystalMarieShannon By a great band, at its beginning. They also did the Byrds' "I See You" on that record. Jon Anderson donates his time to School of Rock students, who get to perform onstage with him.
Johns vocal on Mr Moonlight is searing ,scathing and electrifying, think Hey Bulldog , he makes what is a cheesy song captivating with his vocal delivery.

My favorite part of this album, Crystal, are the first four words of the album. THIS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE. John nails it down. Could it be because the first time I heard this LP I was involved in a heavy make out session with a beautiful girl (we were teenagers in her parents living room) It was my first make out session. I was thrilled beyond belief. The very next day I went off to join the military. I can't imagine better music for that occasion. Love your great analysis, Miss Shannon! "Everybody's Trying to be My Baby" is a cover of a Carl Perkins original (rockabilly pioneer/Blue Suede Shoes) that was recorded with Carl in attendance. You can see George play it live with Carl 20+ years later on youtube - should be easy to find with a search.
Honey Don't and Everybody's Tryin' To Be My Baby are Carl Perkins songs and Ringo and George performed live show with Carl in 1985 in London ..The videos are very easy to find and the whole show is phenomenal

It is so fun following You When listen to all Beatles album. I really learn and Understand some songs Better! You are such a sweet and humble person Crystal
“Beatles For Sale” is considered the Beatles “country album”. Here we get the first sounds of folk influenced by Dylan. They recorded this album just a couple of months after recording “A Hard Day’s Night” and doing a world tour show they were pretty hard-pressed for new material which is why there are so many covers on this. They did a song called “Leave My Kitten Alone” during this time which almost wound up on the album, but got replaced by “Mr. Moonlight”. Crystal, I highly recommend checking out “Leave My Kitten Alone” on the “Anthology 1” album. It’s great.
Another stellar reaction! Nobody has reactions as heartfelt and emotionally satisfying as you! I look forward to your next reaction video almost as much as I look forward to my next breath! Thank you for allowing me to experience this journey with you! Peace & Love
That is such a crazy coincidence that you brought this up because to me, With the Beatles & Beatles for Sale go hand in hand! The same way A Hard Day’s Night pairs nicely with Help!
I simply love "Beatles For Sale ".. what can I say! Wow I lived Beatlemainia 1964 ~ This band was so dynamic and hypnotizing and so hip and new to world. The were a phenomena this planet. There is no musical extravaganza like the Fab Four. They're voices are beautiful, their style so dimensional. Every album is different from the previous and Revolver and beyond... Beatlemainia 🐞 🐞 🐞 🐞 is back!! Woe!!
One of the interesting things is how the Beatles made their cover of the Buddy Holly song 'Words of Love' sound so much like Buddy's original version. John's voice echoing Buddy's, and George's guitar mimicking Buddy's guitar.
I saw him perform Rock n Roll Music and even though he was outside at night as he played the piano with his elbow, he was sweaty They were having a great time performing.
Ringo was given covers to sing until Revolver's "Yellow Submarine", if I remember aright. His voice seemed made for old rockabilly. He later had a huge solo hit with his version of Johnny Burnette's "You're Sixteen".
Ringo wound up playing a variety of other percussion besides his drum set in this album. These included a timpani on "Every Little Thing" , an African drum on "Mr. Moonlight" , a chocalho (a shaker, but with metal jingles) on "Tell Me What You See" , and even flipping retractable latches on a packing case in time on "Words Of Love" .
Another album by the greatest and best band to ever exist. All the performances are in a class by themselves, the singing and harmonies are from another planet. Mr Moonlight features a Hammond organ solo that to my knowledge has never been done on a pop album up to that point. Help has very emotional songs, looking forward to that review.
Hey, Crystal, so heartwarming to know someone very young has found her 'old soul' in music. I suggest some happy music for you, anything by Swing Out Sister, anything by Bananarama, anything by Electric Light Orchestra. Thanks for your videos, great job!
I Don't Want to Spoil the Party - one of my longtime favorites, which for many years I believed was George's song. Even today knowing the writing credits it seems to scream George at me.

Hey Crystal, I was thinking more about what you said about being a loser. At times, I think we have all felt like that and I certainly have. I suspect you were joking when you said it and I truly appreciate anyone who has a self-deprecating sense of humor. It’s truly a pleasure watching you discover these songs for the first time and I think it’s like hearing these songs again for the first time for me and the others here. I gotta give love to "Baby's In Black"! It was a total "send up" of a Country-fied Rock song with a Pop heart! To me, they were kind of "haming it up" on this song. They were playing the Brats, the Rakes, the Troubadours, if you will. Plus, the topic is literally dark; "Baby's" boyfriend is DEAD. John wants to be with her, but she can't let go of a corpse. It's got a little macbre Morrissey-vibe to it! That is to say, this is a song I'm sure Morrissey relates too and was perhaps influenced by. Great drums on it and a great Bridge section! Thank you Ringo and Paul!
Crystal.....just letting you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and in my heart as we go into the holiday. Good luck every step of the way, sister. We'll see you on the other side.
Crystal, if I could I’d get you “The Beatles Recording Sessions” by Mark Lewisohn for Christmas. It’s an older book, but it’s one of the best and most-detailed. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family from your TH-cam family. ❤️🤗🎄
Its great to see the Mr Moonlight comments here. The critics got it wrong, the fans did not. It was not supposed to be super serious. Back in the 50 and early 60s there was a TON of schmaltzy / dramatic / funny off beat pop and rock tunes that were obscure hits (and misses) they were fun and very much a part of the whole thing
Their original recording contract called for 2 albums and 4 singles per year. By the time they got to the latter part of 1964 they didn't have time to write enough songs because of constant touring and making a movie. Hence all the cover versions from their Hamburg and Cavern days. Although it's not one of my favorite albums, there are still some great songs.
12:48 Even Paul McCartney knew it was a short song, in his concert he mentioned it every time he played it, but is such an amazing song Great video Crystal❤
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ That's kind of why I like it, really. it sounds like they're taking the piss and being melodramatic on purpose. Like "we dare you to take this seriously." But the music itself is so good it's hard to tell how much of it is their having a laugh and how much is serious. Listening to their BBC session recordings, they're constantly making each other laugh, or doing a deliberately cheesy version of a well-known song. Okay I'm ranting now but I just love how their humor is inextricable from their musical sense.
So fun watching you and Call me Caroline, two youngsters exploring The Beatles. You should join up watching Peter Jacksons new triple together.
I agree you and call me caroline need to hook up.
What I like about both channels is that they're both musicians, so they actually teach me stuff about stuff I've listened to for decades. I agree that it would cool if they reached out, but maybe after they've both finished the discography.

The flips from major to minor...... and that exquisite final chord on No Reply. Over 50 years later and I still can't get enough of it!
I love the track, Mr. Moonlight! Never understood the hate for it. You're right - it's a bit more dramatic than usual for the Beatles because it's a cover. But John's singing...oh, man!! I love hearing him sing the hell out of any song. So much heart in his vocals.
I agree with every single word you wrote! So much excitement and passion in John’s vocal presence.

John LOVED the song
I must have avoided the hate all these years, because I always thought "Mr. Moonlight" was one of their best covers with Lennon's amazing vocals. It always puts me back in time to when the Beatles were performing live in clubs. And they would choose B sides to cover, so they could put their stamp on them. It's them doing a tribute to Dr. Feelgood. Why would any Beatle fan be mad at that?
'What your doing' is fabulous along with 'Every little thing'. 2 classics. Love the Beatles. oh yes, love your interpretations too.

one fantastic, usually overlooked part of No Reply is the different chord used the 2nd time in the "I nearly died" sections. The first pair is A minor to E minor. The second pair is F major 7th to E minor and that one note difference gives it "Beatle texture".
That is an excellent observation! Thank you! Definitely explains that bite- it went from a 5th chord change to a 7th. Very different flavor/color!
Yes, Yes, YES! Brilliant observation from an obvious true fan!
Such an amazing song, so early on!
"Baby's In Black" was a favorite of the Beatles themselves in live performance, as they kept it in their stage show between late 1964 and the end of their touring career in 1966. Few of their original songs remained on their live set list for that long.
GREAT song.
The vocal intro to Mr Moonlight is sublime. The vocal control and power from John is captivating.
I’ve always got a laugh out of the genius sequencing in putting Mr. Moonlight after I’ll Follow the Sun. After all, what follows the sun? The moon!
Resolving a chord progression on a maj6 chord is SUCH a Beatles thing to me. Makes me think of them every time I hear it.
You have a very original and insightful take on a lot of these albums. Love seeing someone who truly appreciates good music
They also interpolated the words "All we are saying is give peace a chance" in the song "All Good People". Somebody in the group was a Beatles fan.
Thank you! I really appreciate you and just by your comment and observation, I can totally tell you are a true music lover as well!
You are anything but a "loser". You are a special, strong, talented young lady. Everyone watching agrees with me I'm sure
Indeed. Crystal is a beautiful person inside and out and she’s one of us-a true music fan.
100% agree!
Definitely a Lennon lyric: "I've had a drink or two and I don't care." That associates in my mind with the encounter with Bob Wooler.
I remember "Imagine" a lot at that time. Also "In My Life".
Peter...Yes' version of "Every Little Thing" is one of my all time favorite Beatle covers. Love Peter Banks' guitar playing.
I appreciate that 💛 Thank you
Crystal, you’re most definitely NOT a loser. You’re FAB. 😊
She is. And so is her cleavage, which I found distracting - but I'm not complaining !
Crystal's really rockin' the decolletage here! Thank you, Ma'am.
I agree. I feel they reached their musical apogee with Revolver/Rubber Soul.
@@shannonsmith6806 Paul took a huge step forwatd on the Help! album with The Night Before, I've Just Seen a Face, and Yesterday (3 classics).
The music as always is great but their singing is just off the chart spectacular. And the way they blend harmonies, just never gets old IMO.
Not a skip?! Baby's in Black is actually a great song. The harmonies alone in the chorus are magical!
The guitar sound is also very innovative as it was the Beatles' first attempt at using the volume/tone control to alter the sound of the guitar, giving it that sobbing, gasping effect that would be fully realized a few years later (by Eric Clapton) on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
Baby's in black is a dope song...!!! Iv always loved it... Totally underrated
Best thing is the John--Paul harmony. Lyrics get a B-/C+ on the Beatles scale.
I've always loved Mr. Moonlight, too.
I think John’s intro vocal on Mr Moonlight makes it a worthwhile listen on its own.
One of his best vocals.
It's pretty much the high point of the entire song. Not exactly the band's greatest cover.
That dress looks so good on you. I forgot about the beatles for a while...
I also say cha cha cha at the end of rock and roll music
I agree on Mr. Moonlight. It's a good song, I don't understand the hate it gets among Beatle fans. I enjoy your reviews.
According to Lewisohn in 1962 they would start shows with this, and John had to hit his note cold. The crowd loved it.
Thank you!!! I am grateful for you and for the fact that i’m not the only one- was started to think I was crazy!
I think people don't like Mr Moonlight because of the organ solo. Doesn't have a great sound.
@@rickandreola7144 True re. organ solo. It doesn't fit.
"Every Little Thing" was covered by Yes on its first album.
Great song choice !!!
@@CrystalMarieShannon By a great band, at its beginning. They also did the Byrds' "I See You" on that record. Jon Anderson donates his time to School of Rock students, who get to perform onstage with him.

Wow!! You are the beautiful person! I really appreciate you and your heart! ❤️
Johns vocal on Mr Moonlight is searing ,scathing and electrifying, think Hey Bulldog , he makes what is a cheesy song captivating with his vocal delivery.
I love this whole album but ‘What You’re Doing’ is my jam. One of my favorite Beatles songs.

That was a great performance. Gonna go watch it now, myself. :)

Honey Don't and Everybody's Tryin' To Be My Baby are Carl Perkins songs and Ringo and George performed live show with Carl in 1985 in London ..The videos are very easy to find and the whole show is phenomenal
"Every Little Thing" Es una GEMA! que maravilla de canción! y todo este disco es uno de mis favoritos. Recomiendo escuchar "Honey Dont" con audífonos, de verdad te sientes como si estuvieras rodeado/a por los beatles, mientras tocan para ti. Saludos Crystal!
The melancholy of much of the songs, and the title of the album, reflect the crush of fame they were feeling as the eye of the Beatlemania hurricane.
I love this reation even more than the others because you spoke so much spanish which is my first language. Iol when you said: "Fernando no me dejes te necesito!". That was so cool! Obviously your comments always on point, of course you are a musician just like me. I adore the Beatles and i adore you as well. You are my favorite! More spanish please.
It is so fun following You When listen to all Beatles album.

You are such a sweet and humble person Crystal
While No Reply and I'm The Loser were put in the back burner, Baby's In Black was in their concert songlist 1965-1966.
Really enjoyable watching and listening to you. Lovely
An honorable mention should go out to Ringo for such unorthodox drumming on "What You're Doing". The drums totally make that song!
Would love to see your reaction video on George's All Things Must Pass album.
Always preferred this album to the more popular 'With The Beatles.'
Woe!!
And I don't think we can underestimate how revolutionary it was to have all four of them sing lead.
Great to hear this music with another view point
One of the interesting things is how the Beatles made their cover of the Buddy Holly song 'Words of Love' sound so much like Buddy's original version. John's voice echoing Buddy's, and George's guitar mimicking Buddy's guitar.
Baby's in Black, yup. For years I was like, "Doesn't anybody dig these soaring harmonies, and that heavy waltz time groove?"
Nope, I was wrong. Ringo took the lead on the earlier What Goes On. He got a partial writing credit as well.
“Every Little Thing” was covered by my favourite band, progressive rock legends, Yes.
It’s a nice version.
Tell Me What You See's the next album...
I agree with You about Baby's In Black. Extraordinary harmonies.
Beatles for Sale and the American counterpart Beatles ‘65, are my favorite Beatles albums.
Great review Crystal! I love the way you treat all the Beatles songs equally; thank you :)
Put them away love
Another album by the greatest and best band to ever exist. All the performances are in a class by themselves, the singing and harmonies are from another planet. Mr Moonlight features a Hammond organ solo that to my knowledge has never been done on a pop album up to that point. Help has very emotional songs, looking forward to that review.
What You're Doing is an underrated gem, not very well known, so seeing you react to it in real time was a treat. Glad you enjoyed.
Hey, Crystal, so heartwarming to know someone very young has found her 'old soul' in music. I suggest some happy music for you, anything by Swing Out Sister, anything by Bananarama, anything by Electric Light Orchestra. Thanks for your videos, great job!

I love that guitar riff George plays to open the song.

I love the vocal line “and from above you sent us love” in Mr. Moonlight, even if the song gets hate, that bit is awesome.
Crystal, if I could I’d get you “The Beatles Recording Sessions” by Mark Lewisohn for Christmas. It’s an older book, but it’s one of the best and most-detailed. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your family from your TH-cam family. ❤️🤗🎄
Great book!
12:48 Even Paul McCartney knew it was a short song, in his concert he mentioned it every time he played it, but is such an amazing song
Great video Crystal❤
Mr. Moonlight is one of my faves, therefore those who don't like it are wrong wrong wrong!
I think it’s very similar in vein to “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”.
@@Sweetish_Jeff_ That's kind of why I like it, really. it sounds like they're taking the piss and being melodramatic on purpose. Like "we dare you to take this seriously."
But the music itself is so good it's hard to tell how much of it is their having a laugh and how much is serious.
Listening to their BBC session recordings, they're constantly making each other laugh, or doing a deliberately cheesy version of a well-known song.
Okay I'm ranting now but I just love how their humor is inextricable from their musical sense.
