Beau, you should get yourself a wheeled wagon that you pull, take it to your halfway mark and lock it to a tree. Your wagon would have food & water supplies, etc.. then you can put your finds and gear in the wagon and roll it back to the truck. Look at your wheeled wagon as base camp. Lol.
I metal detect to but i dig old bottles for a living and i have to say that bottle is so beautiful it has amazing color to... Awesome find keep it up and keep the videos coming !!!!

8:31 Is a "cant hook" used for rolling logs. Most of the thumb part is busted off and the clevis is rusted so it wont pivot.

At 8:07, the conical shaped item appears to be a vintage "Peavey Head". A four-foot long pole, usually Ash, Hickory or White Oak wood, was fitted down into the head, or spike, and was used by loggers for moving and manipulating logs. The Peavey came after the "Cant Hook", which was basically the same, except that the Peavey has a pointy end, and a Cant Hook has a blunt end. Your item has been fashioned into a point at the bottom end, therefore, I would say it's a Peavey. There would have been a hook at the end of a lever, attached to the side, but it appears to have been broken away. Very nice find. Please post photos after you restore it. Ha Ha. Great video! Thanks.

I told you, if you need some one to hold your stuff and hand you what you need like your metal detector, pin pointer, shovel or pick, I would be glad to help. One thing, if we see a bear, I can't promise I won't scream like a girl. Other then that I'm good. :)

Just a thought and I know it's on the late side, but when you find something heavy like that, is it possible to tie it to a section of fallen tree and float it out? Some situations I'm sure it would work, some not. All rests on if you can find a viable piece of tree. Lol.

8:10 that looks like a tobacco plant setter or planting horn. Real common around my parts of North Carolina. That could fetch some money.
Sausage packer? Lever would be in the right place, but that should be curved, not straight.
***** It's a cant dog or Peavey.A handle 2-3 feet long fit into the wide part with a curved hook that hooks a log. The small open end had an iron pointed piece that grabbed the log as well allowing a person to roll a large log

On a bummer side of things, but as a Marine I can't help but think of the battles that have left these relics. The downer side is the men who lost their lives as well. Don't mistake this for a hit, just a thought I hope we never forget when a spent round or busted shell is found, just what the "real" cost was. Good job sir, keep it up. Semper Fi

The bronx new york has a dump just off the TROGS NECK bridge in about 20 feet of water from when new york was new. we had some one bring us out at night to scuba dive for lobster . we would bring back the bottles to him. the bottles had round bottoms. the floor was loaded with them.
If you had a bag that could be sealed air tight, then you could insert heavy items to float back to the car.
usually when I watch your fun far-out most enjoyable videos I don't need to wear my hearing aids, but this and a couple of recent ones the audio volume just isn't enough and need to wear the aids which depress me, don't like the feeling of ear plugs or my hearing is getting worse....I haven't been able to hear birds in over fifteen years without the aids , that I Don't like and thanks for allowing me to post this comment ps If you ever go to war remember to put in ear plugs before you try to stay alive dodging bullets & shells. I didn't 1969-70
Like that bottle. Cannonball is cool too. Maybe make up a float bag for heavy finds like that. I found some nice mid 19th century bottles up here in MA when we excavated on our property.

Excellent hunt, great video that had us ROLLING in laughter with the cows and the last couple minutes!!! You sounded like my 7 year old grandson after 20 minutes hunting. Did you forget the ax head? Oh well, still there for next time! GL & HH in 2015!!

Nice area Beau love that bottle but he rusty trap was cool being a fur trapper that is one nice looking river and the cannon ball was great find wish I could hunt down there get me some civil war relics HH&GL an God Bless
