In high school there was a class I had like this called Practical Living
at my college it’s called Student Development (SDV)
At my uni it's called adjustment to university life (ATUL), but it's not as helpful as it should be. Or maybe that's because I took it during the pandemic and no classes made sense during that time, lol.

I miss Angelica too, the religious delusions and transphobia are really depressing. I love maya to get me ready to listen to relaxing asmr , and I also love asmr Ryan! Raven and his divorce roleplay is an all time favorite
Actually talked to my advisor today about switching labs, and he recommended I take an 8 am lab. all I could think was “Kris would know better than this”

I switched majors to one with only two professors. Classes were very set, there were no options for other times/days so our schedules were bumped way up the priority list. I sat down with my advisor and planned out three years of classes, never had to worry about registering since my stuff was done for me automatically.

I take classes starting at like. 9:30am. I wake up a few hours earlier but I need time to wake up and get ready, my advisor is also a sweetheart, so helpful. I’m glad she helped me figure out classes that aren’t at the crack of dawn or at like 4pm (cause I like being home by then)

Update: History through the Farts could also be super fun to make a syllabus for. I took an undergrad class on the history of trash including toilets and sewage. It was amazing, tho it was in spring 2020 so we never got to go on our field trip to a wastewater treatment plant 😂

Man, I loved my advisor in college (he was a phd, licensed counselor & marriage/family therapist, also one of my professors, and so great!)....but I would have LOVED to also have an advisor like this for the more practical aspects like in this video... Those damn gen ed science classes at/before 8 a.m. my freshman year (the only times available) were the only things that kept me from graduating with honors. I rarely made it to the biology class, and my phys sci. course...I think I attended maybe twice the whole semester and just showed up for big tests and turned in the assignments that were on the syllabus. I still passed but those C's really ruined my entire 4-year GPA.

Mine was nice but I was a perfectionist so I literally knew more about the majors and classes required/currently on offer so I just stopped going after two visits
American college sounds so complicated in comparison to UK university / college. Here you just sign up to a course and get given the modules you’ve got to do.
I don’t know if you intended this sort of reaction, but I’ve been having just the worst few months, and the way this character was funny yet comforting and encouraging got to me. May or may not have cried partway through. Definitely needed this going into a new semester ❤

back when I was studying fire science and paramedicine at my community college, I was told we had one of the best programs in the country and shown the state of the art facilities that very few other schools had for training. Well I went for academic advising in a big meeting room and my advisor knew nothing about fire science. So they asked the entire room of advisors and none of them could help. I never had a good time with any of the advisors I saw at that community college lol

This felt so nice because like in the UK a lot of education places are all repetitive courses the same each year you never get to figure stuff out which might accommodate your needs or goals and it's hugely draining when you can't relate your future goals to what you're learning.
