Just finished some great diving around KohTao...no whale sharks but I did have one hell of a night dive with Erik over at big blue....saw four Barracuda kills and many other great things....great parties and great diving!!!! and the videographers are amazing from that area!!!!
I'm hoping to spend 3 or 4 weeks on Koh Tao from late-April to late-May and will definitely want to experience THIS...!! Fantastic footage and editing/music.
@Tir1962 Cool I'm glad you enjoyed our island, it's a really cool place with a nice Island atmosphere, this video was shot while diving with Coral Grand Divers
@LinusLarsson88 there is some wreck sites in the Area, most of which are out of the limits of recreational diving, there is a few small boats (fishing boats and one small catamaran) which are shallow but would not really count. Recently a Technical Diving Boat called the Trident was sunk close to Shark Island which was organized by Jamie Mcleod, Master Divers, SSI Thailand and financial contributions from Many Dive shops and local businesses on the Island, she lies at bottom 35ms.
@ Suzitacat, there's two seasons April-May and then October-November, but they do turn up a lot during the year especially around full moon. And please do look us up if you get here next year:)
@samuisfireworkshop one of the dives included this video is white rock and yes on that day there were a lot of people in the water as the dive site is very close to the island, but the funny thing about whale sharks is when people pester, chase or touch them they swim away and don't stay around. Koh Tao is lucky to be one of the places were young come especially around the full moon when the island is busy, sometimes these young fish like to interact with divers and enjoy the bubbles.
The best time to see Whale sharks around Koh Tao is in May and later in the year around October/November but they do turn up randomly all through the year.
Wow, amazing video, how far off the coast were you diving, was there in August 2009 in the same area and didnt see anything as amazing as this, am off to Thailand in november, this time planning dive trip off coast of koh chang, bye.
@LinusLarsson88 it very special to see these beautiful creatures and there's is always a chance, but in my experience around the fullmoon is the best possibility, good luck though and if you are looking for somewhere to dive this was filmed while diving with Coral Grand Divers on Sairee Beach.
Great Video. what was it shot on? lights ? filter? Incidentally in Mexico they do not allow divers in the water with the Whale Sharks and only two snorkelers at a time with their guide. Think maybe in the future these guys might also look at limiting the number of divers allowed at a time. Not judging, just saying : )
I'm a PADI diver and I'd love to dive with this shark... Looks like this shark is on a dive tour or something, if so whats his/her name ? You are so blessed....
@gearbow thanks, it was shot with Filter and adjusting Manual White Balance, I wouldn't use lights on a Whale Shark. And fair comment about the amount of divers, but in Mexico people are paying for the experience to snorkel with Whale sharks and its pretty much guaranteed they will see them, where these clips are taken from dive sites that people were just diving and the Sharks just turned up by pure luck.
yes but here as with most things there are no regulations, just money wins evert time,no matter who/what suffers.normal countries have strict regulations for good reasons/
@samuisfireworkshop if the poor animal didnt like it it would swim away, think about it its not on a leash and has the entire body of water to hide in...
that looks amazing, with all the bubbles and the remoras around them

great music, great edit, great animal !
The best time of year for Whale sharks is May, but they do turn up right throughout the year, usually around the full moon.
I think it is amazing to dive with such beautiful creature. However, seriously, dont u think you guys were a bit too closed and too crowded ??
awesome video ! looking forward seeing this giant animal in 2 months :)
@LinusLarsson88 Also this video was shot while diving with Coral Grand Divers located on Sairee Beach.
