How astrophotography can be used for dark sky conservation?
I share some stories of being out under the dark sky with you folks.
I'm talking about traveling to a remote rural area in the middle of the desert in Iran in Yazd.
A town in which local people used to use dark sky, stars, and constellations to water pomegranate gardens, navigate when shepherds go away with flocks, and people used stars to define agriculture seasons, find the exact time at night and when to be ready for praying.
they have lots of myths and poems about stars, especially Canopus, and its effect on fruits becoming ripe.
There is a cohesive and intertwined connection between pomegranates and people's lifestyles.
I traveled to Ardakan in the middle of Iran on the edge of the desert where freshwater is hard to reach.
People use man-made underground gravity-based water systems called "Qanat" for daily use and gardens.
Water and consequently the garden and their fruits have a holy position for them and they believe Pomegranate is a fruit of heaven.

In addition, they have countless folklore myths, stories and poetry, and songs about it and about the connection between the growing phase of the pomegranate and the night sky as well!
