For me it was achievable but definitely a challenge. Blisters were out in force by day 3. And my kit was probably heavier than ideal. Bit of a crazy start though as I couldn't set off from Dufton until tea time on 'day' 1 which was a (beautifully scenic) slog over to Holwick. Then I was up at the crack of dawn to do the next stretch to Barnard Castle on day 2. So that was a bit like squeezing 2 days into one which probably knacked me a bit for the remainder. Anyway, life story aside, it's about 100 miles. That's an average of 20 miles a day. If you're starting upstream and heading out to the coast it's hilly at first then gradually less undulating until pretty much flat once you get to Gainford really.
Great video Ron! I daresay I know this route as well as anyone but it's the first time I've watched it end to end. Loved it!
Great - thanks! Your sectional walk report of the Teesdale Way was a big help. Here it is for others: durhamcow.com/teesdale-way/
How did you find the walk spread over 5 days?
