Very helpful! Got me out of a bind! . Only way you could make this faster would be to drink two triple-shot latte's before recording instead of just one! Thanks!
Hi Jeremy, I have 4 Switches of Cisco SG550XG-24F Stacked together, I lost the password, if I need to preform the password recovery, can I do it on the master only and that will get the job done or do I need to disconnect them all and preform on each switch? Thank you in advance, any info would greatly be appreciated.
Hello professor, Could you me out? I'm trying to do a lab on the cisco 2800 router. When I send the break sequence (I tried in putty and also Tera Term) I blows right by and does a normal boot It asks for a password, and "no dice" on any access anymore. Thanks for your time
Jeremy, i recently lost password to a Cisco WAVE 274 - WAN Optimizer Engine. Though the registers in a cisco router and the ones in the WAN Optimizer are different, Is the password recovery mechanism same? Changing and switching of conf-regs and then switching them back again? Also, aren't console and telnet/ssh passwords different altogether? I mean even if I lost my telnet password, would't console just allow me to enter into the device with the default password that came out of the box? Just thinking.

For my home lab, I bought a used 2800 series router running version 15.1. The console port was locked down, prompting for a username. I changed the register to ignore the startup config, copied it over to running config and was able to bypass/reset the enable secret, as well as line vty 0 4 and 5 15. However, when attempting to negate the security on Line con 0, I failed miserably. Does anyone know the syntax to undo the username/password prompts for the console port? This router has AAA and more modules (including voice) than I need for my home lab. I know how to lock down a console port for a router to pass an audit, but negating it is not as simple as it was to reset the other passwords. I've found tons of info on how to factory default, and do password recovery but none specific to line con 0 on this router. I don't want to have to throw it off my balcony. Yes I can use telnet/ssh, but I'm studying for an exam and would really like to be able to get past this point and actually USE the console port. Any suggestions or advice is welcomed with gratitude.

Does this mean that anyone who can access the router physically or remotely ... can actually reset the passwords on that router ??
Physical access is total access
nice, but this open my mind, that Cisco is not safe. we can bypas it using console cable
